Reviewed by Liz Konkel for Readers' Favorite All Dragon’s Eve by Casse NaRome is the eighth book in the Saint’s Grove series. Ana inherited her grandma’s shop a year ago, but she still hasn’t found herself. She enjoys making jewelry, but something still feels like it is missing. Ka-Riu is tasked with finding the Hearth Stones that will break the curse on his people. Fate intervenes when a lunar eclipse and planets aligning allow for Ka-Riu to travel into Saint’s Grove. Ana isn’t one to trust strangers, but when Ka-Riu turns up at her store, looking for her late grandma, she feels an instant connection to him. Ana has handled a lot in this town, but Ka-Riu’s revelations that he’s a dragon, his crazy cousin who attacked her is also a dragon, and she happens to be the last Benten goddess set her on a path she never knew she had. Ancient dragons discover the modern world in this installment of the Saint’s Grove series. Often paranormal romances are regarded as either highly paranormal or heavy with the romantic. All Dragon’s Eve does have romance, and it does have dragons and magic, but it reads more like a romantic comedy. There’s a lot of humor that drives the characters. Ana introduces these centuries’ old dragons to video games and even gets the future king semi-addicted to them. Ana has a sarcastic nature, but she’s also headstrong and witty. Ka-Riu can be a bit rash and pouty, but he’s also goodnatured and loyal. They have a fun back and forth that reminds me of screwball comedies where the banter drives the humor. Ka-Riu’s siblings break dragon stereotypes. Fuku has a dark side, but normally acts like a tame grizzly bear who's blunt and typically well-meaning. Ri-Riu has a scary side with his casual ‘threats’ to eat Ana and the fact that, as future king, he’s the head of the family. Kin-Riu is delightful, strong, and wholeheartedly enjoys working in Ana’s store. Even if you haven’t read the Saint’s Grove series, All Dragon’s Eve is easy to follow, fast paced, and humorous. A true romantic comedy with a modern take on dragons that every romantic at heart will enjoy!
This was an entertaining read about fantasy and the paranormal. The characters have strong connections and the story line keeps you enthralled throughout. This is one of the books in a multi author series set in the fictional town of Saint's Grove, Virginia. I found it to be quite an interesting read and will definitely read more. I voluntarily read this book, all opinions expressed are my own.
3.5 stars-ALL DRAGON’S EVE is part of the multi-authored SAINT’S GROVE paranormal/fantasy, time travel series focusing on the town of Saint’s Grove, Virginia in the aftermath of a total lunar eclipse, and the alignment of the planets, that will open a portal to the otherworld releasing all mythical beings for an epic battle of Good versus Evil. This is jewelry store owner Ana Benten, and dragon shifter Ka-Riu’s story line. All books in the Saints Grove series can be read as stand alone stories without any difficulty. It is not necessary to read the series in order. The number assigned to each installment is simply the order in which they were released. Told from dual first person perspectives (Ana and Ka-Riu) ALL DRAGON’S EVE follows Ka-Riu as he and his family pass through the lunar eclipse portal to Saint’s Grove, Virginia in the hopes of locating the Clan Stones. For three hundred years the dragons of Inventurea Prism have been cursed; their dragons dormant, and to release their dragons Ka-Riu returns to Saint’s Grove in search of the mystical Hearth Stone aka Clan Stones that are said to carry the power of the dragon. Enter jeweler and ‘goddess’ Ana Benten-a woman unaware of her connections to the dragons but a connection that is triggered with the lunar eclipse. The relationship between Ka-Riu and Ana is one of immediate attraction and insta-lust. Ka-Riu is the youngest of his clan and knows that Ana’s rightful place in the dragon community is beside the future king-a position that is not in his future. Ana is a woman trying to find herself; lost and wandering for a place to call home, and the lunar eclipse has forged a path for our story line heroine. The $ex scenes are implied and fade to black. ALL DRAGON’S EVE is an entertaining story line that is a bit of a departure from the other Saint’s Grove installments wherein the ‘dragons’ are able to travel back and forth through the portal throughout the story, and there is no interplay with any of the other happenings in Saint’s Grove. There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including all of Ka-Riu’s extended family of siblings and dragons that make for some fun and humorous moments. We are introduced to Ana’s best friend Paola who finds herself a prisoner of a man hoping to keep Ana for himself. Once again, I had a few issues with this story including some problems with cohesion, grammar and spelling; and an inordinate amount of, what I can only describe as, ‘filler’ that, at times, bogged down the flow of the story. The premise is lighthearted; the characters are affectionate and charming; the romance is a quick jump to happily ever after.
This book hit the fantasy/paranormal spot! I absolutely love dragons! I truly enjoyed this book and wished it could continue further. I love the diversity of the characters. This book is hilarious, thought provoking, and down-right magical. I appreciate the 'coming into one's self' story line. I identify with some of Ana's life struggles. Feeling like an outsider, not sure what your life purpose is supposed to be about, etc. Hopefully, I will find mine as well. It's not that deep, people. It just made me say, "Hmm".
