About the Author

Jennifer Bernard is a graduate of Harvard and a former news promo producer. The child of academics, she confounded her family by preferring romance novels to . . . well, any other books. She left big city life for true love in Alaska, where she now lives with her husband and stepdaughters. She's no stranger to book success, as she also writes erotic novels under a naughty secret name not to be mentioned at family gatherings.

Sorry, this book didn't do it for me... Sadie and Caleb were both very immature and even though they had baggage and seemed to grow up at the end of the story it just didn't make it for me... I could too easily put this book down, and the manager of the Catfish BB team could not exist in the real world... The plot just didn't seem real to me and who could take the Save the Slugs promotion seriously???

I liked the fireman series books but I'm 12 pages in and of course I'm disappointed that the main female character is described as too young and of course the as a waif. I really like the humor this author puts into her characters and so far am impressed with the male character. I hate that I spent $3 on this book. I wish that the synopsis was clearer on the characters. I'm going to try and read through to see if I can stomach it.

I became a Jennifer Bernard fan the moment I met Melissa and Brody in The Fireman Who Loved me. Her Bachelor Fireman were smoking hot with hearts of gold. It didn’t hurt that Ms. Bernard could write well, either. When she moved away from the fireman and to the Kirby Catfish minor league baseball team I was a willing follower. I was not disappointed. Caleb and Sadie are as much fun as Melissa and Brody were. The Catfish are also smoking hot with hearts of gold. They also have a wonderful sense of humor. The are some interesting side stories going on that I can’t wait to see play out: the major and Crash being first on that list. My only complaint is that the Catfish are a minor league club. That means our guys get called up to the Bigs only to leave Kirby behind. This means less chance of future visits to see how things are going. I’m eagerly awaiting the next book and more adventures with the Catfish.

I had received this as an ARC of this book from Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review. I love Jennifer's writing style and was happy to start the newest series this time involving America's favorite past time, baseball. Welcome to Texas where everything is bigger including the trouble. Caleb Hart is playing for the Kilby Catfish and meets Sadie Merritt who has a petition to get the Catfish out of town. Sparks fly and they have some runs in but it is a wonderful book and the chemistry between the two is great and I can't wait for the next installment coming out in December.

I received an ARC of this book from Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review. I've been a fan if Jennifer Bernard ever since her Bachelor Firemen series first came out. I was sad when that series ended, but intrigued by what this new series would be like. I love her style of writing, and I was very happy to see that style carried over into this new series. It is set around the minor league baseball team the Kilby Catfish. I loved Caleb and Sadie's story from the moment they first ran into each other as she was trying to deliver a petition to kick the Catfish out of town and he's doing his best yo recover from his baseball slump. I've been to quite a few minor league baseball games and the descriptions of everything brought me back to being in that stadium. I look forward to many more stories set within this baseball team and all of the players on the team.

A Fun, Sexy Romance! Sadie Merritt has lived all her life in Kilby, Texas. When she broke up with her ex, a member of the town's prominent family, he got nasty and made her life miserable. She got lucky when the Mayor hired her and gave her a chance, now it's up to her to help the Kilby Catfish change their image before they are run out of town. Caleb Hart is a star pitcher for the minor league team. A phenom, his first trip to the majors ended in disaster, so he is in Kilby trying to figure things out, and waiting for his chance to prove he belongs in the majors. When Sadie and Caleb are paired up to work together to improve the image of the Catfish, sparks start to fly. Can they work together to save a team whose hard-partying image is about to get them driven out of town? Sadie and Caleb are both strong characters with a sense of family loyalty and trust issues. After what Sadie has been through with her ex in such a small town, it is no wonder. Caleb has his own issues, after taking over parenting for his younger siblings when his father went to jail. He is not only trying to keep his career on track for them, but also protect them from their father while keeping an eye on him when he is paroled. These two share a fun, sexy romance while learning to trust each other and let them help carry the burdens. The story is well-written and humorous, with fun secondary characters. The story progressed well, and it was nice to see that each character had their own flaws and was accepted for them. I enjoyed the romance mixed with my favorite sport, baseball!

Great start to a new series from this author. Set around a minor league ball club in small town Kilby it has a great bunch of characters that I am sure will be reoccurring in upcoming books. Caleb and Sadie have a fun, sweet, and oh so sexy chemistry between them and you can definitely feel it throughout the story. While parts of the story are a bit outrageous and silly at times, overall it's a very good read. I definitely recommend it.

Jennifer Bernard hit’s a home run in her new book All Of Me. Pitcher Caleb Hart needs to prove himself with the Kilby Catfish in order to get to the major leagues. He seems to be doing ok until sometimes during the game everything goes south. Now is manager wants him to help salvage the teams rowdy reputation with the town. Caleb needs to work with the mayor’s assistant Sadie Merritt in order for the townsfolk’s to drop the petition to kick the team out of town. Sadie Merritt is lucky to have a job working for the major. Her former boyfriend dragged her name through the mud all over town. Sadie can not afford to get involved with the bad boy Caleb Hart. But there is something about Caleb that makes her heart no longer listen to her brain. Spending so much time together thinking up ways to improve the Catfish’s rep has an effect on both Sadie and Caleb. Learning about what makes each other tick adds a deeper insight to both their past. When Sadie’s past comes back to affect Caleb’s future, will Caleb run at the first sign of trouble? All Of Me is the start of a new series, A Love Between The Bases Novel. All Of Me is a great start and an awesome book to boot. It really coveys the ins and out of the minor league world as well as the struggles we all have in overcoming our past. Caleb and Sadie spark off each other from the first page. Their interactions are funny as they are sexy. Jennifer Bernard has outdone herself in this book.

Leave it to Jennifer to top her sexy firemen with even sexier baseball players. Sadie Merritt has survived a huge scandal involving her ex, barely. She has one friend left in town, and her job in the mayor’s office that she knows she’s way overqualified for but is just glad to have, and hopes to hang on to it. She has a mother constantly telling her she can do better and that men are nothing but trouble. To say her trust in men or anyone, much less herself is waning is an understatement. Running into a deliciously sexy playboy baseball player while running an errand for the mayor is not something she planned for or quite knows what to do with, and she certainly has no intention of falling into a man trap again. But he is very sexy... Trying to salvage his career as a pitcher, Caleb Hart joins the minor league team, the Kilby Catfish. Having messed up his big chance in the major leagues, he’s determined to prove to everyone, but most importantly to himself, that he has what it takes to be the best. After a terrible first day, he literally runs into a sexy Sadie in the tunnels below when she comes to meet with the team's coach. A PR project throws them together, and Caleb has difficulty keeping his mind on the game on the field even as his strategy leans towards games with Sadie as he begins his pursuit of her. But can he win her... After falling in love with Jennifer Bernard’s sexy Bachelor Firemen of San Gabriel, I was ready to give her baseball series a try but also a little wary that she might not be able to give this series the same small town romantic feel that we always felt with the firefighters. There was a camaraderie between the men/women of the San Gabriel station that was an important part of the series. Well, Jennifer has definitely created the same feel in her Love Between the Bases series. It’s off to a good start with ALL OF ME. We get that small town feel, steamy romance, and a cast of characters we can hope to see reappearing often in stories to come. The base emotion of ALL OF ME is trust. Caleb and Sadie both carry trust issues, and not just in others but in themselves. I enjoyed the chase that Sadie put Caleb through to win her over. I loved the way Jennifer dealt with the long distance aspect of their budding relationship also. It’s very appropriate in today’s world since so many relationships must endure distance but with technology, the world becomes a much smaller place. The phone conversations and resulting heat, which exploded with so much steam when they came together, was natural, and realistic. When secrets, mistrust, and misunderstandings along with Sadie’s ex and Caleb’s father start to interfere, things fall apart quickly but as it should, love prevails. I highly recommend reading ALL OF ME, the first book in the Love Between the Bases series by Jennifer Bernard. It might not be her absolute best—there were times I wanted the trust to come faster—but then every team needs a warm up time, and I suspect as this team comes together as a family, this series is going to heat up and become the champs we know they can be. ***eARC provided by publisher via Edelweiss in exchange for an honest and unscripted review.

Fall in love with baseball all over again and with the Kilby Catfish! This minor league team is all about fun - sometimes too much for the Church Ladies. That's how Caleb and Sadie meet - she's on a mission for the mayor, to calm the Catfish down or get rid of them. It's lust at first sight for Caleb, but he has his sister and brothers to provide for, so falling for a local girl isn't on his agenda - he's got to get back to the Bigs (Major League). Sadie has demons of her own, not trusting men since her rotten ex spread vicious rumors - and a video - of her. Sometimes Fate doesn't care what you want or what you're afraid of as these two are thrown together, forming first a friendship, then more. They figure out that love is more important than small minds and even baseball!

I have enjoyed all of the Jenny Bernard books I've read to date but was interested to see how this new storyline would develop. As is to be expected, Jenny did not disappoint and now I can't wait for the next of the Catfish players to be revealed! The characters were great and fun to get to know and the pace kept moving along. I heartily recommend it as a great summer read!

All of Me is Jennifer Bernard’s first book in her Love Between the Bases series. I enjoyed reading about Caleb and Sadie. I liked the pace at how Ms. Bernard developed their relationship. I look forward to reading more about the various players that were introduced in the story. I’d like to disclose that I received a copy of the All of Me in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Great start to a new series!  I happen to love baseball, so I had high hopes and I was not disappointed. There is plenty of baseball drama to go with the romance drama so that it didn't feel like the hero happened to be a baseball player. Caleb and Sadie make a cute couple and they had pretty good chemistry. Their relationship progresses at a believable pace as they start out by having lots of phone conversations before they finally give into their attraction. There are plenty of characters introduced including Sadie's friend Donna and Caleb's team members as well as the team owner.  I can already see a couple of pairings for future books, can't wait to see what's in store for this team! Overall a fun and sexy contemporary romance. 4.5 stars ARC via Edelweis

Bernard's New Series Brings the Heat Jennifer Bernard is one of my favorite contemporary authors and when I heard that she was writing a new series I knew right away that I had to read it. The 'Love Between the Bases' series follows the Kilby Catfish, a minor league baseball team with a rowdy streak and a bit of a bad reputation with the proper matrons of the small, Texas town. In All of Me, we meet Sadie Merritt, the sassy but scarred assistant to the Mayor of Kilby, who knows all too well how much power the wrong kind of reputation can wield. Her assignment to issue the petition to 'Can the Catfish' and reform the team's image gets interesting when the mouth-watering pitcher, Caleb Hart, gets thrown in her path. Keeping things professional is far from easy when Sadie and Caleb can't seem to keep their hands off each other.  Both Caleb and Sadie have a whole mess of baggage and neither of them has the best track record with trusting the right people. Sadie's reputation and privacy was completely destroyed by her sadistic ex-boyfriend, who secretly photographed and videotaped her and then shared it online, bullying and slut-shaming her. Caleb carries the weight of his father's crimes on his shoulders along with the responsibility for raising and caring for his three siblings. They definitely both have things they need to work through, but they find a safe harbor in each other where those burdens seem to be quite a bit lighter. I loved their flirtatious attitude toward one another and although the physical attraction was there from the moment they met, I really enjoyed that their relationship really started to grow through their phone calls during his away games.  As in all of Jennifer Bernard's previous novels, there's a great sense of passion and humor throughout the couple's interactions. I really appreciate that they can get super hot-and-heavy one moment and crack jokes and tease each other the next. Their love feels genuine and well-rounded which allows you to connect all the more with the characters. All of Me just reads like a Jennifer Bernard novel, and I mean that as a compliment. There's such a great sense of camaraderie and friendship between the males in her stories. They're never perfect, but they're always interesting, determined, multi-faceted men who you'd want on your side in a bar fight. Bernard has such a way with writing secondary characters that you get so pulled in by their humor and heart that you can't wait to read their own story. As much as I absolutely loved Caleb and Sadie together, Donna and Mike just made the story that much better for me. I'm so intrigued by the possibilities of what Donna's secret could be and I love her feisty, no-holds-barred attitude, which obviously hides a soft, gooey center, If she and Mike don't end up together I'm going to be extremely upset. Hell, if their book isn't the next one in the series and I have to wait over a year for it I'll be upset.  I have never been a fan of baseball, or really been all that attracted to baseball players, but if someone is capable of making me a convert, it's Jennifer Bernard. All of Me is a sweet, funny, sexy introduction to a series that promises to be all that and more. If you're a fan of her 'Bachelor Firemen' series I think 'Love Between the Bases' will more than live up to your expectations. Who's ready to catch themselves a Catfish? I know I am.  Disclaimer: I received this book free in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts and opinions shared are my own.

Playing for the Kilby Catfish is hotshot pitcher Caleb Hart's last chance to salvage his career after a major league meltdown. But the day of his opener with the minor league team, Caleb strikes out with the gorgeous woman who is delivering a petition to run the unruly Catfish out of town. Now, to stay in the lineup, Caleb will need to score big with the feisty brunette he can't keep out of his thoughts. After the nasty lies Sadie Merritt's rich ex-boyfriend spread about her all over town, she's lucky to have a job at all. She can't afford to screw it up by falling for the player who is supposed to be helping her change the image of the fun-loving Catfish. But that's easier said than done when Caleb's voice alone is enough to make her pulse race. And when he surprises her with a mind-blowing kiss, she knows there's no turning back.  Review: This first book in the new series from Jennifer Bernard is a Grand Slam! I loved the whole Bachelor Fireman series, but this might be my most favorite so far. This is the perfect time of the year for A book centered around a baseball team.  The team by the way reminds me of the team from Major League, where you have this mismatched group of men and they are fun to read about.  But this story focuses on Caleb who is trying to work his way back up the the major leagues after striking out his first time out.  I liked Caleb, he is a stand-up guy, he tries to take the world on his shoulders, especially where his family is concerned.  He did make me mad when he rushed to judgement about Sadie because of his trust issues.  Poor Sadie, she certainly has gotten the crap end of a lot of deals.  But Sadie is a survivor and is doing her best to get by in a town where she is the pariah.  I loved Sadie and Caleb together, they bring out the best in each other and are super sexy together.  Actually I loved the whole cast of characters and cannot wait to read each of their stories.  The book is a great blend of fun, sexy and drama.  Of course this being the first in a series you are not missing anything other than reading a great book! 4.5 Stars

"All of Me" is written by Jennifer Bernard, and it is the first book in her Love Between the Bases series. It features Kilby Catfish pitcher Caleb Hart and Sadie Merritt. First off, as an avid sports fan, mixing romance and sports is always a favorite of mine. One thing that I enjoyed about this book was that Caleb is a professional baseball pitcher, who used to be in the major league but was sent down to the minor league to improve his pitching. It's a little different for me because most of the baseball romance stories I've read just dealt with the hero being in the major league. So Caleb has something to prove -- can he be the baseball player he once was? And how will his past effect him both professionally and personally? Sadie Merritt is the mayor's assistant. She was given a second chance to redeem herself in her hometown of Kilby. Unfortunately, because her ex-boyfriend's family plays a significant role in Kilby, he destroyed her reputation by spreading lies. Sadie enjoys watching baseball, and even though she doesn't agree with the petition that some of the people in Kilby have started to remove the Kilby Catfish out of town, she had to deliver it to the team. And that is where all the fun begins. Caleb and Sadie first meet when she had to deliver said petition. There was an instant connection, but they are hesitant, at first, to do anything about it. But because they have to work together to improve the Kilby Catfish reputation around town and to convince the townspeople that the team should stay, how can they deny that chemistry? I really enjoyed "All of Me"! Caleb and Sadie are both strong and passionate characters. They learned each other's pasts and supported each other. It made their relationship stronger. Cannot wait for the next book in this series! Jennifer did a wonderful job!

I really loved this first book in the 'Love Between Bases' series. The relationship between Caleb and Sadie felt real, and the players from the Kilby Catfish baseball team were fun. I'm eagerly looking forward to reading the next book in the series!

I was interested in reading All of Me because I love baseball - America's pasttime. This story brings in an interesting twist to a romantic happily-ever-after because Sadie is recovering from a scandal out of her control, and Caleb is hiding from a scandal, lurking in the shadows. I really enjoyed reading the baseball aspects of the story. The tussles that the team can't seem to help but get involved with brought a comedic facet to the story. The author also creates a group of characters that you hate - that you love to hate - the Wades. The Wades believe they "own" the town yet their own hubris becomes their downfall as Sadie, and the Mayor, and the Kilby Catfish together are able to bring them down, much to my delight. The characters were generally likable and the foundation has been laid for future books highlighting other residents of Kilby, TX. I struggled with the writing style. The author enhances the primary aspects of her sentences by sprinkling in numerous superlatives, metaphors, and similes to provide emphasis to certain points.  Those writing techniques can be effective when used strategically and judiciously, but for this author, it seems to be a "go to" writing style and it became quickly overused. Some examples of this style include, "I could touch you until the end of time", "Because I want it more than life itself...", "chasing every thought to kingdom come", "had just screwed their brains out", "blown off the top of his head", "like the most beautiful flower in the world," "it could have been a house landing on him," and "like two survivors of a natural disaster".  Those cliches, similes, metaphors, and superlatives are all contained within about a 10 page span in the book, which in my definition qualifies as overused. There are long stretches of the book that flow well with a good balance of dialog, prose, and appropriate writing enhancements, but other parts which felt bursting with these cliches, it made it difficult to focus on the story. All of Me is a sweet love story where, in typical fashion, the hero needs to be smacked upside the head to realize what he's got, or lost. I cheered for Sadie as she took back her strength and power, and know there are good stories lurking in the future for the supporting cast of characters from Kilby. A light, enjoyable read. Disclosure: I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Jennifer Bernard is the first author I reviewed when I started this blog last year. I fell in love with her Bachelor Firemen series and have read all of them multiple times. I wasn’t surprised when her newest release, ALL OF ME, started hitting homeruns and scoring big right from the start. Set in Texas and centering on the minor league baseball team, the Kilby Catfish, ALL OF ME features a cast of lovable but wild baseball players, strong-willed independent women, and quirky supporting characters, all guaranteed to make you smile. The romance is strong and the plot is very believable: hometown girl jilts her rich boyfriend who proceeds to make her life a living hell until a handsome ball player comes to her rescue. Jennifer Bernard tackles the serious issue of Internet bullying with a calm ferocity, using the issue to paint a vivid portrait of her heroine and her slimy ex-fiancé and their past and present dealings, and our hero's issues on the field and at home, all to create a tangled line of conflict that drives the story well. Supporting characters are fun and well-drawn with some hilarious scenes. There are hints of future books in the series with the introduction of other players and characters that entice us but don’t take over a scene. The story stays centered on Sadie and Caleb. ALL OF ME is loads of fun and Jennifer Bernard’s best yet. A great beach read this summer or anytime and you won’t have to like baseball to love it.
