Sometimes, you spend years mending the damage that someone else has caused you. You put in the work and piece by piece, you manage to put yourself back together, until you're a shadow of the person you used to know. Then suddenly, just when you feel yourself becoming YOU, they try and come back, because they finally realized that you were everything they could have asked for. If only they had taken the time to listen.
