(This book was previously published with a different cover.)

All he ever fought for...
Miles McAlister had been dreaming of representing his hometown of Chances Inlet, North Carolina in national politics since he was ten years old. So when his mother fractures a hip, Miles seizes the day and moves home to manage her upscale B&B while rolling out his campaign for Congress at the same time. But his carefully orchestrated life begins to unravel quickly. He discovers the path to political stardom isn't as easy to navigate as he thought. Especially when people working both for him and opposing him attempt to turn him against the very ideals he's trying to uphold. Making matters worse is the inn's stubborn, mysterious, and distractingly beautiful cook. Miles doesn't trust her, but he can't seem to get rid of her. Or keep his hands off of her. He's loved and lost before, so falling for Lori Buchman is not part of his plan.
All she ever feared...
Lori just wants to do her job and be left alone until she can safely move on. The last thing she needs is to get involved with her boss's Dudley Do Right son. Miles proves to be too sexy to ignore, however. Their heated fling elicits feelings deeper than either anticipated. But everything about Lori is a lie. She's harboring a secret that'll destroy Miles's career, and when the truth gets out it's going to shock Chances Inlet to its core, forcing Miles to make the hardest decision of his life.

This review was written by Marie for a guest review post on Ever After Book Reviews blog: 5 Stars I am in love with this book. It’s an emotionally charged, extremely well written romance that brings together an ambitious politician and a woman running from a past that she’s ashamed of. It’s smart, beautiful, and so perfectly romantic. And while both Miles and Lori come with baggage and an aversion for trust, they overcome their obstacles and discover that what they really wanted in life was each other. Ms. Solheim has a wonderful series going here, and I am extremely excited to see what she has in store for us next! ***I read and reviewed a paperback copy of the book gifted to the blog in exchange for an honest review. All conclusions reached are my own***

All They Ever Wanted is a compelling book about Miles McAlister, an aspiring politician, and Lori Buchman, the mysterious young woman who is a cook at the McAlister family's B and B. Miles, who is still nursing a broken heart, is also trying to keep his image as a squeaky-clean politician. Although Miles is attracted to Lori, he's worried that whatever secret she is hiding could harm his campaign. Lori can't deny the sparks that fly between them but is also harboring secrets from her past, and unwilling to let them hurt Miles and his family. The electricity between the two characters feels so real, as they struggle against their growing attraction, even as they each make the hardest decisions of their lives. A great love story that is also full of intrigue, suspicions, and secrets. This book is the second book in the Second Chances series. I didn't read the first book, but the author does an excellent job providing the back story from its prequel, Back to Before. The author caught the reader up on the characters and stories from the first book without slowing down the pace of the book. I hope that there will be another book in this series! I love books about second chances!

My Rating: 4.5 Favorite Quotes: “He looked up to find that Tanya’s wide smile had a nasty edge to it. Miles resisted the urge to cross his legs and shield the family jewels.” “Bernice was the queen bee of Chance’s Inlet’s gossip hive. Any information told to or overheard by the woman was spread around town with more efficiency than an Amber Alert.” “I just want to be with you for however many moments we can carve out together.” “Just when she’d given up on men, along came her very own Dudley-Do-Right with his justice-for-all character.” “Coy just arrived and he looks like he just flunked out of hell week in his fraternity.” My Review: Abundant with low country texture, this richly detailed story was lush with observant descriptions of life’s small and large annoyances, as well as the foibles of human nature and small town living. Two people intent on avoiding any and all romantic relationships were – of course – inexplicably and passionately drawn to each other. There were many secondary characters to keep straight in this large and active group, but it was well worth the effort. The characters were likable and I was deeply intrigued by the secrets Lori was loath to reveal about herself. I enjoyed the levity, writing style, and humorous banter between characters as much as I was drawn in by the ongoing mystery and storyline.

Tracy Solheim returns to Chances Inlet in her latest novel that has you wanting to laugh and cry through out the book. Miles created his life plan as a 10 year old, with being a senator as the pinnacle of career choice. He is worked is whole life and his campaign is off to great start. Lori is the cook/maid for Miles's mom's B&B. Lori is full of secrets that Miles is dying to figure out. Solheim will have the reader guessing what the secrets are until the very end. If you have read her other novels is a great chance to see Gavin/Ginger and Will/Julianna again too.

I really loved this book! The main characters, the secondary characters, the interactions... I laughed and I teared up. I loved the sibling and family interactions. Miles is literally a good guy, trying hard to remain that same guy in politics. He set his goals when he was 10 and has no plans to compromise them, even with the unexpected things that have come up. One thing he never planned on happening again was falling in love, especially not with someone who is so obviously hiding something like Lori is. Despite the secrets and her determination to not become involved, she finds herself becoming part of life in Chances Inlet. I was so wrapped up in the story, I didn't want to put it down. The storyline was interesting, the romance, the secrets, and the mystery at the B&B. Chances Inlet has a history of second chances, so it was fun to watch Miles and Lori fight against theirs. This is a great read, whether you have read Tracy Solheim in the past or if this is the first of hers you have read.

All They Ever Wanted is very well written. The setting is a cozy inn in NC and the characters are very well developed. Miles is a campaigning politician and Lori is temporary help at the inn who is hiding a shady past. Their worlds collide when the matriarch is recovering from a hit-and-run accident and the family rallies to help run the inn. Miles and Lori both know that they shouldn't let the sparks between them ignite, but alas it turns out that it is too hard to resist. There are some really well thought out twists and turns in this book that makes it hard to put down. I highly recommend reading this book as well as Tracy Solheim's other novels.

I was so excited to read another story set in Chances Inlet, and did not disappoint me. Loved Miles and Lori's romance. Miles has his future all planned out in politics and finding love was not one of them at this time. Loved how Lori called him Mr. Dudley Do Right. Lori does have a secret, that she has been hiding from everyone, that need to be taken care of. This is a fun story, plenty of romance in small town. Love the quirky residents and Miles's family are a hoot. I highly recommend this story, along with the first book in the series but can be read as a stand alone. I received this book from netgalley for an honest review.

All They Ever Wanted by Tracy Solheim is the 2nd book in her Second Chances series. In All They Ever Wanted, Miles McAlister is our hero, and we had already met him in the first book of this, as he was Gavin’s (previous hero) brother. Miles is the politician in the family, have planned since he was a child to become the President one day. Now that Miles is older, he still plans on his political career, running for congressman in his hometown in Chances Inlet, North Carolina. Miles is well respected, and has the support of the governor politically, he is also the almost perfect good guy. He is in the middle of his campaign, when his mother gets hurt. Miles puts his campaign in the hands of his associates, while he goes home to help run his mother’s B & B. Lori is our heroine, she works in the B & B, as the cook and baker, not to mention being Mrs. McAlister’s right hand. We know that Lori is in hiding, living in Chances Inlet for a short time, and only planning to stay until Mile’s mom is back on her feet. What or who is Lori running from? This is a mystery throughout most of the book, which answers will be found closer to the end. Early on, Miles who rarely deviates from his overall plan, finds himself becoming very attracted to Lori. Miles had fiancée years before, who had died in an accident, and he swore he would never get seriously involved; concentrating solely on his political career. We know what happens to best laid plans. However, Miles did come across as arrogant at times, which kind of annoyed me. Though he was interested in Lori, he gave her a hard time. He knew she was running from something, and was determined to find out what it was. When various items in the B & B became missing, Miles automatically thought of Lori being the culprit. He also put some pressure to seduce Lori, who also felt the attraction but did not want to become involved, since she was leaving soon. The political scene in town becomes a major topic as a popular local resident decides to oppose Miles. Miles team, which includes the Governor’s daughter play major roles in this story. We also get to spend time with the McAlister family, which includes Gavin and Ginger (the couple in the first book). In the last 1/3 of the book, as the political pressure builds, the romance between Miles and Lori heats up. Just when Lori realizes she needs to leave fast, all hell breaks loose. Miles becomes his original negative self, which fortunately is short termed, and everyone will work together to try to discover the truth about Lori, and how to help her. Will Miles accept Lori about her past? Will Lori be able to prove her innocence? Will Miles political career survive the scandal? Tracy Solheim has written another wonderful story in her Second Chances series. I enjoyed this story, and have come to like most of the characters in Chances Inlet. If you are looking for romance, a little bit of mystery, good characters, with a wonderful small town atmosphere, then you should give this series a try.

Miles had his future mapped out from the time he was ten years old. However, he has to make tough decisions when his carefully made plans start to take a different path. He is juggling many things - trying to get elected to Congress, helping run his mother's bed and breakfast, trying to uncover Lori's secrets, and trying to solve a mystery at the bed & breakfast. Lori is only in Chances Inlet temporarily and wants to stay under the radar until she can move on. She has a hidden past and doesn't want to hurt Miles's chance to get elected to Congress. I love that there was a mystery at the bed & breakfast to solve as well as some shocking secrets about Lori's past to be discovered. I really like the town of Chances Inlet and look forward to reading more books in this series. ** I received a copy in exchange for an honest review. **

It's not too often I read a book and want to shout out "Woo Hoo!" and throw a fist-pump in the air, but I had a few of those moments with this book. Right from the beginning, Lori and Miles are not big fans of each other. Lori is trying to fly under the radar just long enough until she can leave. Miles is in the middle of a huge political campaign, that has him in the spotlight. They are on completely different ends of the spectrum, but that doesn't stop the sparks from flying between them. What wonderful sparks they were too! Tracy Solheim did a magnificent job peeling back the layers of these characters. There were secrets, emotions, scandals, surprises, and such fierce loyalty. The strong connections between this group of friends and family created some very highly complicated situations, with some very creative solutions and even sacrifices. When I finished this book, I took a minute to soak it in, because I loved Lori and Miles' story so much. For them, Point A and Point B were practically worlds apart, but every little detail of the journey was wonderful. I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

All They Ever Wanted is the second book in the Second Chances series. Miles McAlister is a aspiring congressman hoping to represent his hometown of Chances Inlet, NC. When his mother has a accident that leaves her needing help, she asks him to help out with her Bed & Breakfast, so he moves back home and starts his campaign at the same but it's gonna be the B&B's cook named Lori that will change everything for Miles! Lori has only been at the Bed & Breakfast for a short while due to her being on the run but when Miles moves in, she tries even harder to keep who she really is from him. As things start to heat up between Lori & Miles, items start to disappear from the B&B and nothing is going right until one night when all that Lori has been hiding from everybody will come out. With Lori's secret about who she truly is and a thief that nobody saw coming, will leave Miles & Lori glad for second chances! I really loved this book and I'm not much for reading books out of order but this book was writing in a way that you could easily see what happened before and made it so easy to get into! As with Tracy's books, you come to love the characters in them and I had the thief figured out kinda halfway through but it was still kinda cute how they were discovered! I'm definitely gonna have to go back and read the first book in this series so everything can make more sense at what happened from the 1st to 2nd book and of course to be all caught up so when the third book comes out, I will know everything about this wonderful family! Thank You to Tracy Solheim for writing this fantastic book and for making me want to stay up late at night just to finish this book in two days just to see what is gonna happen with Miles & Lori! I received this book from the Author in exchange for a honest review.

All They Ever Wanted by Tracy Solheim is the second book in her Second Chances series. Miles McAllister had planned out his life by the time he was ten. He is in the middle of his campaign to become a congressman when his mother is hurt in a hit and run accident. He returns home to run his mothers B & B while she is healing only to find the cook/maid Lori Hunt running things. Miles finds himself attracted to her, but Lori does not fit into his neat and tidy list. He knows she is hiding something and he wants to know what it is since his family has been hurt enough. Lori Hunt is living a life of lies. She is on the run from something that happened in her past. She unexpectedly finds herself falling in love with this small town and the people in it. Lori knows she shouldn’t have a relationship with Miles, although she doesn’t think their having some fun together would be a problem. It isn’t a problem until things start missing from the B & B and her past comes calling. I enjoyed the suspense of why Lori was on the run and how it would come out. I was completely surprised on what it was and let's just say there is always more than meets the eye. I highly recommend this book to all readers. The characters were well written and complex. The plot was riveting and kept my attention to the very end.

She told everyone that her name was Lori Hunt and she thought was the perfect job by working at the Bed & Breakfast in Chances Inlet, North Carolina. No one knew who she was and she wanted to keep it that way, so she kept herself in the background and quiet. Lori is trying to save money so she can leave and get to a place where she feels safe. She just never expected to fall in love with not only the town itself but the people in it. It does not help when the boss’s son shows up it throws her for a loop, because he a hottie, he is a suspicious hottie. Miles McAlister had his life mapped out, it happened at a young age. He was going to be elected into Congress, get married and then be elected as President. It all seemed to be going well and he was starting up a great campaign when there was a hiccup, his mom being hurt in an accident so needing someone to run the Bed & Breakfast. Little did Miles realize that while you can have this perfect plan, it does not mean it will happen at all, especially when there is a woman thrown into the mix, a woman who seems to have secrets. When things go missing from the B&B, Miles blames Lori and Lori thinks Miles is trying to set her up. They realize they need to work together in order to solve the mystery. Hopefully it can be done before Lori’s hidden past comes to full light and changes everything forever. This book is available as an eBook or in actual paperback (yes they do still have those lol). Definitely add it to your to be read list!
