After lies and betrayal almost destroyed us, Dean and I fought our way back to each other. But now another battle threatens our fragile reconciliation.

Though Dean's protectiveness of me is more powerful than ever, he can't escape his seething jealousy over what I did with another man. And I can't forget his lie, especially when a West family crisis forces us back to his hometown, where I'm confronted by the woman who loved my husband before me.

I'd thought we were safe again in the warm, loving haven of our marriage.

I was wrong.

Their arguments and trials were so realistic. It was refreshing to read about a couple that actually argued and loved ina realistic way that i could defintely relate to. Fantastic writing, strong characters... so well done.

TRUST. FEAR. RESPECT. Real problems beautifully and heart breakingly dealt with, while making you feel like truelove exists. "How did you feel when you did get to know Liv? When you reached the end of the maze, as it were?" .."I didn't want to leave." -Dean Nina has done it again! No sophomore slump here! Halfway through this book I realized that I had to take everything that I thought this book would be, and throw it out the window. EVERY. SINGLE. THING. The storyline was great and lent to the characters' growth and development. That is what makes these books stand out for me. The reason that the characters feel so real, is that actions and reactions are measured so well. It takes an insightful writer to combine it all together to have a greater meaning as a whole. The results feel kismet, and no matter if they break your heart at times, you can acknowledge it is for the greater good. Interwoven like Dean's little string designs, it all comes together create the big picture. In this book Dean's family make an entrance, and open up so much insight into what makes Dean tick. Dean's family dynamic is something else, and a whole other story of it's own. You'll find Liv in this book is standing tall and has committed herself to be strong for her husband in his time of family stress. Dean's has had her back, and she's going to return the favor, no matter how uncomfortable it may be for her. I have to say that I love how confident Liv is about Dean's love for her. Running into Dean's highly successful ex , doesn't make her question Dean's love for her, just maybe her own confidence in how the rest of the world views her. Some of the situations that she is put into, she behaves like a class act. Liv's maturity and confidence, in her and Dean as a couple, really shine in this book. Expect to see some of the old fears resurface about trust, respect, and fear. As a reader, I just know they belong together and can work it out. It is a combination of all their history, good and bad. Reading this book it breaks my heart a little when Liv gets frustrated with Dean. Can Liv be who she wants to be as an individual, while being in a relationship with Dean? Can Dean make changes to accommodate what Liv needs, and still feel needed in her life? I feel sympathy for Dean who is scared to lose to Liv and doesn't know how to "fix" things and give her what she needs. They are both so scared, and damn, haven't we all at one point or another? "He taught me about love, trust, passion, and forgiveness. About Hope."- Liv But god, when they are good, are they good. I'm just going to say it. They are dorks. Ridiculously cute and in love dorks. And I like that. Dean has moments of giving her a hard time and teasing her. It's cute and real. Liv embarrasses him about the "locker room incident" and shamelessly makes fun of this cute artwork on love notes that he leaves for her. This story has a TON of heart and emotion. You'll get more of Dean's POV in this book, which I'm always game for. LIV'S MANIFESTO. I **heart** this big time. The manifesto is funny and heartbreaking at the same time. I won't spoil it for you, but look forward to enjoying every entry she makes. I said it in my last review, and I will double down on it, THESE TWO ARE MY FAVORITE BOOK COUPLE. I have an empty box of tissues to prove it. I will be crushed when this crazy, beautiful ride is over. I can dream there could be a fourth book, right??? The third in this series is set for a summer of 2013 release, and god I can't wait to see where the story goes next.

Allure is the second novel of Nina Lane's Spiral of Bliss series and let me tell you it is worth every word. This book begins immediately after the last one ends and Dean and Liv are still working through their problems. While the previous problems still come up, this book touches more on the past in each of their lives than the last one. I love the little things that both of them are doing to try and reconnect. Just as they are getting back on track a tragedy occurs and they head to Dean's family home to deal with things. Meanwhile there allegations are made and Dean is forced to go back to their home leaving Liv by herself and tragedy strikes again. They are left dealing with the issues that have been left to them and even though their unyielding love for each other shines through time after time, I just don't know what the out come will be. Which is my only regret in reading this book because I don't want to wait until later this year for Awaken to come out I want to read it now! I can't wait to see how Dean and Liv's love comes through!!

On average I read five or more books per week. That being said....this is by far one of my favorite series. Each book is over 600 pages....and you won't skip a word. Part 3 is due out this if your one of those people who hate the partial don't have long to wait. Pick the books won't regret it.

I'm just gonna dive right in and confess to you all that I committed the numero uno cardinal sin of reading book series with this book. I read this book before reading Arouse (Spiral of Bliss, #1). *cringe* I know, I know, it's unforgivable. But there was absolutely no way that I would have had time to read Arouse and still be able to finish Allure on time for my review deadline. And, y'all, I MOURN the fact that I had to read these out of order. This book broke my heart then glued it all back together again. I am absolutely in love with Dean West, and am now Nina Lane's #1 fan. (Yeah, I said it, lol). I'm a little bit intimidated with how to even begin this review, because this book has left me so raw, and was so honest and beautiful, and described every facet of a real relationship in heartbreaking detail, that I'm afraid I'll do it injustice. Dean and Liv's relationship is one of the strongest and truest I've read about in a long time. The most comparable literary couple I can think of is Jamie and Claire from Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series. They became so real to me that I cried when they cried, laughed when they laughed, and held my breath when things were uncertain. And they loved each other. Man, did they ever. Desire uncoils in my blood as I look into his eyes. He is imprinted in my bones, my soul. He has marked me in ways more permanent than time. I can't imagine a situation that would pull Dean and Liv apart because their love seemed so strong and unflinching in this book. Yeah, I know that it has been tested, but we are allowed to watch it grow and soar in Allure. "You were wrong." I blinked back a fresh wave of tears. "When you said I didn't expect anything from you, you were wrong. And I lied...when I said I didn't want you to fix me...oh, God, Dean. I think I knew you were the only person in the world who could." I can't wait to read Arouse to see what leads up to their separation, but I'm also a little scared, because I know if it was bad enough to pull these two apart, it's going to devastate me. I love that Nina Lane created two strong, capable characters that just leapt off of the page. They are both flawed and haunted by things that have happened to them in the past - but together they are perfection. They complete each other, and allow the other to heal and evolve into the person they are meant to be. "I spent so much energy trying to deal with what happened...trying to forget. To stop blaming myself. And then when I first met you, I was trying to figure out who I wanted to be. Who I could be...You showed me so much of that. So much more than I even knew existed. You showed me how to be free, and what it feels like to be safe and wanted and loved. You showed me how to love. How to stop being afraid. How to fight for what I want. Especially when what I wanted most was you." And I'll be damned if Dean West is not just the perfect man. He is every inch the strong, dominating, Alpha-male, but at the same time he is the most romantic, sexy, make-you-fall-in-love-forever, even-better-because-he's-flawed, man. And he proves it time and time again. The way he loves Liv is awe inspiring. It makes you long for a man like this. It makes you yearn for...more. "Feel that?" he asked. "You're the first woman who's ever made my heart beat like that. You're the first woman I've ever wanted to spend all my time with, the only one who could convince me to start a new life. You're the first woman who's ever made me genuinely happy. Who makes me glad to be alive, who makes me burn hotter than fire. You're the first woman who's ever made me afraid." I stared at him. "Afraid?" "Afraid of how good this is. Afraid it won't last." He pushed a lock of hair off my forehead. "Scared to death of losing you." I can't say enough how much I loved this book. Liv and Dean are characters that I'm going to carry around with me for a long time. They are special - they are unique. And I can't wait to read the next chapter in their story. Our relationship, our love, cannot and will never be perfect. It will, however, always belong only to us in all its flawed, intense beauty. Perfect in its very imperfection.

More Liv and Dean, love this married couple! Minor spoilers alert!!! You never know if sequels with ongoing storylines will have the same magic as the first book. Luckily, everything that I loved about this married couple in Arouse was back again in their 2nd novel – the wonderful flashback scenes, crazy good sex and their lovely emotional connection. I gushed loads on GoodReads while reading Allure. It is definitely now another one of my favorite novels of the year. Liv and Dean had to spend some time apart, but they eventually decided that they were ready to move on from their recent disconnect. They easily sink back into the beauty and rhythm of their togetherness.  ‘This is easy. If we could fix everything by pleasuring each other, we’d already be back in a place where there are no doubts, no mistrust. No fear. But as good as sex has always been between us we both know it’s not enough. I don’t know what will be enough.’ Liv A health crisis in Dean’s family triggered their return to his family home in California where they are forced to deal with his dysfunctional family dynamic. The loss that Liv and Dean experienced seemed to highlight their need to heal individually before they could as a couple. Dean also had to come to terms with his perceived failures. Additionally, Liv had to reconnect to the strong person she was before she met Dean. I was extremely invested in how these two repaired the damage to their relationship and rediscovered their allure.  ‘I picture myself at seventy-three, thinking back to all the sexy things Dean and I have done over the years. Remember that time in the coat closet during a holiday party…?’ Liv That coat closet scene was definitely a hot scene worthy of future nostalgic reflection. There were plenty of additional ones as well. The kitchen scene, the desk scene, the back seat of the car and their “first” discussion were just a few of my favorite sexy scenes. I could really picture this couple going the distance and growing old together, so I was Team Let’s Fix It all the way. In fact, I was so caught up in their story again that I was surprised to reach the end even already knowing that their story would have to continue in Awaken (book 3).

After reading Arouse I immediately dove into reading Allure, which seamlessly picks up where the first book ended. Once again, Nina Lane doesn’t disappoint, taking the reader on a passionate and emotionally heartfelt journey through the continuing trials and tribulations of married couple, Dean and Olivia “Liv” West as they try to put their marriage back on track.  “We’ll talk tomorrow, Liv. Right now I want you naked against me. I want to wake up cold because you’ve hogged all the blankets. I want to feel your leg between mine, your hair in my face, your arm flung across my chest. I want to find myself on the edge of the bed in the morning because you’ve sprawled all over the mattress. I want to sleep with you.” After secrets, lies and betrayal almost destroyed their marriage, Dean and Liv are determined fix their mistakes. Just as things seem to be heading in the right direction a crisis forces Dean to return home to his feuding family, dredging up guilt over his painful past. Dean wants to shield and protect Liv from his family, his past, and anything that may cause her pain. But Liv, determined to be more independent and an equal partner in their marriage, insists on accompanying Dean home to California.  “I’d never wanted to prove myself to anyone the way I did Liv. I liked her too much. Liked the way I didn’t feel cold inside when I was with her, the way I didn’t think about anything except her. I liked that she was a mystery. I liked the way she looked at me, as if she knew I would protect her. That I could. Until … I couldn’t.” Dean and Liv have battled obstacles before, but bitter family conflicts and a devastating loss now endanger their fragile intimacy. And when Dean’s career is suddenly threatened, he and Liv must struggle with events that could damage them in ways they never imagined.  “You’re the first woman who’s ever made my heart beat like that. You’re the first woman I’ve ever wanted to spend all my time with, the only one who could convince me to start a new life. You’re the first woman who’s ever made me genuinely happy. Who makes me glad to be alive, who makes me burn hotter than fire. You’re the first woman who’s ever made me afraid. Afraid of how good this is. Afraid it won’t last … Scared to death of losing you … Because you’re the first woman I’ve never wanted to let go.” Allure is a wonderfully written, emotionally charged story about reconciliation and learning to deal with and let go of the past. The story is realistic, and the character growth is so well developed that you become lost in their journey. Told in both Olivia and Dean’s POV, the reader is given a deeper understanding of each characters psyche. You feel their heartache, their frustration, their passion, and their love and commitment to each other as they rebuild their marriage and fight to maintain their happily ever after. Personally, I just love this couple. They’re meant to be together. If you’re a fan of steamy adult contemporary romance, then this is a book you won’t want to miss! Allure is a sensual, reflective story about the resilience of true love. A highly recommended read. And I can’t wait to read what’s in store for Dean and Olivia in Awaken, the third and final book in the Spiral of Bliss trilogy!

Allure, A Spiral of Bliss Novel (Book Two), Nina Lane. Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews So, book one ended on a crazy cliff-hanger, and book two picks straight up from there. Liv and Dean are happy, have found some peace after their recent problems and are looking to their future with happy plans. There's always a fly in the ointement though isn't there, and Liz and Dean are in for more upheaval. Dean gets news of his family which means they need to visit. He's worried about Liv travelling so far after the problems his ex had with miscarraiges, but Liv reminds him their doctor says everything is fine. So a good chunk of this book is taken up with family issues, and there's stress from both the people and the circumstances put upon the couple once again. Add in some problems back at the university and it's a read packed full of drama again. I didn't think Nina could top the first book but this one does. Once again there's some hot and sensual sex scenes – well love scenes really, Dean and Liv don't do just sex, but lots more. Its erotic even when its just phone sex, and when the two are together the scenes are explosive. I love the variety Nina puts in this part of the story. So many novels just have page after page of straight sex, thinking its quantity and a few dirty words that make it erotic, well, for me thats boring, and sometimes less is more. Nina manages to get a perfect balance of sex and story, with Dean and Liv both being incredibly inventive when it comes to love scenes.... There's some great issues and dramas in this part, with Dean still managing to be overprotective and hold things back from Liv. That hurts her when it comes out, as these things always do...he has the right motives but what he does is wrong, and he needs to learn to let Liv deal, and accpet she's strong and confident enough now to do so. Another read to pull at the heartstrings :-) A huge tragedy that almost puts them right back into their former difficulties. Just as they solve one set of problems and look to be getting on an even keel another bombshell drops.....not quite the cliffhanger of last time but a strong indicator of the main feature of the final book. Stars: Five, a great read, lots of solid story and drama to go with the hot and spicy sex. Definitely a keeper. ARC supplied by Literati Author Services

I love, love, love this series!!! There is just something so magical about the love between Liv and Dean. The depth of feeling between them practically seeps from the pages, it's so strong. It's also real, and that's what I love most. Liv and Dean love each other beyond reason, but they also have real problems. Dean wants to protect Liv from the world and always keep her safe; however that's not always possible and that's where the reality of their relationship comes in. It's difficult and heartbreaking to experience their struggles, but watching how they come together and love one another in spite all that's happening put my heart right back together again.

Not since Christian and Ana has there been another couple so fascinating to me, another couple that I have fallen truly, madly and deeply in love with. I’m not sure what it is about Dean and Liv. Maybe it’s how intense and passionate they are about each other. Maybe it’s how Dean calls Liv beauty and she calls him Professor. “So what are we, then?” I asked. “When someone asks who I am, what am I supposed to say?” “You say, ‘Hi, I’m Liv, Dean’s very hot and sexy lady.’” I couldn’t smother a giggle. “Seriously.” “Paramour?” “No.” “Cuddle bunny?” “God, no.” “Valentine? Sweetheart? Girlfriend?” “Girlfriend.” I rested my forehead against his chest. “I guess.” “Not the best word, but it’ll do in public.” He kissed my temple. “In private, you can just be my beauty.” Maybe it’s because Dean is Liv’s white knight and she’s his safe haven. “The allure, huh?” “I’ve learned a few things about castle architecture over the years.” Liv wraps one arm around my waist. “The allure is a passage behind the parapet of a castle wall. Great for defense when the enemy is approaching. You know you’re safe on the allure.” She tucks her head beneath my chin, twining her hand with mine. “Like we’re safe with each other.” “No doubt about it, beauty.” I press my face against her sweet-smelling hair. “You’ll always be my allure.” Maybe it’s Liv’s strength and courage. Maybe it’s their witty banter and seductive rendezvous'. Dean opened the glove compartment and took out a package of condoms. “You keep condoms in there?” I asked. “It is called the glove compartment,” he replied with a wink.” Or maybe it’s everything about them together as one beautiful package. Sure, they have much to work through. Sure they have marital difficulties like every other married couple. Sure, they have secrets and painful pasts. But somehow, someway, they manage to work through it, never giving up on themselves or each other. People seem to give up too easily these days. We get married and when there’s a problem, we get divorced. Please don’t get me wrong, sometimes there’s just no other option and I completely understand that. In no way am I judging nor do I want to offend anyone. I myself am a product of divorced parents. But when the statistics tell us that 50% of marriages end in divorce, doesn’t it just seem a little bit too easy to give up? And Dean and Liv don’t give up on each other. Silence falls, pulsing with the truth of what I’ve learned and what Dean has yet to acknowledge. Our relationship, our love, cannot and will never be perfect. It will, however, always belong only to us in all its flawed, intense beauty. Perfect in its very imperfection. I guess that’s why I admire them so. Nina Lane tells a phenomenal story from both Dean and Liv’s point of view so we are privy to both sides. I silently cursed out Dean; yelled at Liv; and told off Helen, Paige and Joanna. Helen’s gaze flickers to Liv. “I’m Helen Morgan. Dean and I were once married.” “I’m Olivia West,” Liv replies. “Dean and I are married.” The possessive tone in her voice does me some good. I laughed and cried with the Professor and Beauty. My heart broke for them. I saw Archer for more than he appeared to be. If none of this makes sense to you it’s because you need to read this book. The character development was tangible and the storyline spectacular. This tale is poetry in motion. After reading Arouse, Professor Dean West made it to the top of my favorite BBF list for 2013. After finishing Allure, he’s most definitely sharing the top spot with my #1 main man. The Professor is such a dreamy beautiful hunk of man! I can hear his voice when reading his dialogue, that deep seductive wave of sound; I can visualize his swagger, the way he saunters ever so slowly towards Liv; I can practically taste the way he kisses her, um yeah, I better stop now. Nina Lane is truly gifted when it comes to detailing sensual romance. She is tantalizingly talented, expertly crafting the aura to enhance the reading experience. And the ending, well, no spoilers here, but I absolutely did not see that coming. When an author can astonish me like that, wow, just wow! I was quite shocked. And honestly, I had no idea there was going to be a third book. What a pleasant happy surprise for me! I’m more than thrilled to read further about my new favorite couple in Awaken debuting summer 2013 (which can't come fast enough). Rock on, Nina Lane, rock on!

If you have not read AROUSE yet, this review may contain spoilers from the first book, so I suggest grabbing a copy of AROUSE first. ALLURE picks up right where AROUSE left off. Dean and Liv's problems from AROUSE are nowhere near solved yet, but they are moving forward, and I was thrilled they were ready to start working through things. Unfortunately for them, the pregnancy is only a small part of the trials they must face. I loved ALLURE much more than the first book, AROUSE. For some reason I was able to connect on a much deeper level with Dean and Liv this time around. I still felt the same frustrations with them, but my hang-ups with the previous novel were put to sleep. Plus, Nina Lane has a beautiful way of weaving her sentences together. And her streaming between past and present flowed so well. I loved the flashes to past and present. And I loved the alternating between Olivia and Dean's POVs. The way the author revealed certain things felt very natural and unforced, and I love that we keep getting new tid-bits from Dean and Liv's pasts, though the people they deal with in the present are far from enjoyable (hence their trials). I felt thoroughly engulfed in Dean and Liv's lives, and vested in their future. Being married for 16 years myself, I can fully appreciate the ups and downs of marriage, and I truly appreciate the way Nina Lane dives right into the joys and struggles of young marriage. I have no idea how the entire series will end, but I will say up front I'll be devastated if they don't make it as a couple. I am a strong believer in fighting for your marriage, so I feel completely invested in Dean and Liv, and am rooting for them all the way. (Ah, feels good to get that off my chest.) During one flashback, Liv makes an observation that I thought was so key to whatever problems Dean and Liv faced, past or present. And getting past this is such a powerful part to releasing the full potential of their relationship and future. I think this also speaks volumes for many people and couples, and is a great insight by the author into relationships, and the harm that can be done internally by couples. Even though the chemistry and heat between Dean and Liv is undeniable, sexual attraction is not enough to hold a relationship together. "As powerful as our attraction was, it was becoming fraught with a strange undercurrent of secrecy and evasiveness." The way Nina Lane delves into the past and present of Dean and Liv's relationship, how they handle the internal and external obstacles to their paths, also holds so true to many people. I think that is part of the power of this series. And despite what Dean and Liv should have learned from the mistakes made in AROUSE, here they are making the same mistakes again. Not fully giving of themselves. They think that they are, but they are not. And not only are they dealing with marital issues, but personal issues as well, which then bleed into their marriage. These struggles are true and relatable for so many people. I found myself loving Dean and Liv and the beautiful things they would say to each other and the lovely way they would describe the other. They have an amazing chemistry and connection, and truly feel like they were made for each other. Then I would feel frustrated that they were being so blind to the problems they were causing, rather than solving. But I will say that I really appreciate where Nina Lane left Liv and Dean at the end of the novel. Not that things were completely solved, but there is great hope for the future and their personal and mutual journey, but also much work to be done. The series is called Spiral of Bliss, and it makes me wonder if this is supposed to describe the up and down spiral to Dean and Liv's relationship. One moment they are spinning into mutual love and adoration, and the next moment they are spinning down a path of mistrust and misguidance. Well, I am caught up in their spiral and I will definitely be eager for the next book, AWAKEN!

Characters are great, there is a good story line, some nice steamy sex scenes, and the author is a good writer. The only problem is the end leaves you hanging and book 3 isn't due until the end of the year
