A kilt meets dress modern love story.

If you like good guy geek heroes who look hot in kilts, strong, intelligent heroines, and poignant romance, then you’ll love Almost Jamie, the first book in Gina Robinson’s light, fun contemporary romance Jet City Kilt Series.

Half American, half English physician Blair Edwards has always wanted her Jamie, the Sinclair, the dashing Highland laird of the wildly popular TV series, Jamie. Unfortunately, it's so hard to find a man like him in the modern world. When the stars of Jamie come to Seattle's Jet City Comicon, Blair dresses up as Jamie's Elinor in a vibrant red gown, hoping to get a seat in their popular presentation and a good view of the handsome, charming star of the show. She doesn't expect to be called on to use her medical skills to treat an injured cosplayer who looks almost like…Jamie. And sets her wounded heart racing.

Cosplayer, geek, app designer, and cyber security expert Austin MacDougall has been styled by his matchmaker to look like the actor who plays Jamie. He's been trying to win the prize for best amateur cosplayer for years. Against the advice of his friends, he goes to Jet City Comicon in a kilt as Jamie, the striking redheaded Highlander. When he's injured during a mock battle with a vicious cosplaying orc, his friends get him help from a beautiful doctor in a stunning red dress.

Has Austin met his Elinor? The adventure is just beginning…

So pissed! Really the word pissed is too mild for it. I thought I had discovered another a new author I would love. I will read a new author and then buy new books in their series. That is how I discovered Bella Andre; Lora Leigh; etc. Then I get this book. Free but no reviews. I fall in love with the author. Discover the book is a cliffhanger; this book is good I will buy the next in the series. Then I discover there are 3 more in the series at 5 a piece. A pure greedy suthor. Yes a suthor . An author who tries to steal your money. Another one to add to my list.

No reviews available before I read it or I would've dumped it without reading it. Loved the story, but I won't be forced into paying 5 dollars a book to get an ending to the story!

Thanks for the 1 review it safe me from reading this I was excited to read this book when I read the review I absolutely hate Cliffhangers when they want you to buy more books to finish the story

We hate cliffhangers!! Should have read the reviews. We, my husband and I, both this read "book" together and were excited by the excellent writing, the intriguing characters, the plot only to be let down once again. Shame on Gina Robinson! To complete Blair and Austin's story it's necessary to buy three more 150 pages books for a total of $15.00. That is outrageously expensive for so little. Why can't more authors be upfront and honest? Do they think so little of readers? Shame on them. There many complete stories, even if there are other episodes involving the same people, that don't string us along. Beware because there are also "books" about Dylan, Jeremy and Cam. Will they also be serialized into four? I agree with the reviewer who said they'd buy others if this one was complete, but won't.

So, this one popped up in one of the daily emails I get about free e-books, and with my recent falling in love with and obsession over Outlander, I knew immediately I needed to read it. And so when I downloaded it, it was only a few days before I gave in to my temptation to read it. It was a quick, hard to put down read. Although it was a bit frustrating to get so close to the end only to realize it was going to have a cliffhanger! Now I must buy the next one. So good job by this author! She got me hooked with a free book so I will now buy her others. I've discovered quite a few of my new favorite indie authors this way. Authors that I will now buy their books, all of them, often having to buy the physical copies because I know how much I will love them and want to reread them. One thing about this book that grabbed me was that I had been thinking when I was attending my own local Comic-Con how much I wished there would be people there from Outlander. And in this story, the stars from the book's version of Outlander are at Comic-Con. I mean if Sam Heughan was anywhere near me, I'd probably faint, but I still want it to happen some day! To be in a room listening to him talk in his Scottish accent, I'd be just sighing constantly, and probably pretty worked up as well. Another thing in the story that I liked, I wish that there was a dating service like the one Austin works with. I'd join. Also, when he mentions that guys will hide their insecurities by acting indifferent, well, not just guys. I do that as well. If I act that way, then the person I like won't know if they've hurt my feelings, right? Anyway, this was a good one. I highly recommend it, the reason it didn't get the full 5 stars is because of the cliffhanger only.

A ginger haired cosplaying geek in a kilt … now that's what I'm talking about! "Almost Jamie" is a sweet first installment in Gina Robinson's The Jet City Kilt series. This series focuses on tech coder Austin MacDougall and physician Blair Edwards. These two characters are romantics believing in true love and soul mates. Austin and Blair are brought together by fate and tied together because of their choices of Comic Con costuming. Austin resembles the star of a period Highlander TV show while Blair's a longtime fan of the books and show. Blair dresses as the shows Heroine while Austin as the kilt wearing warrior. They get a lot of attention from the TV shows stars, fans, and media. This leads to them to temporarily pretend to be romantically involved. Blair's recently broke-up with a longtime boyfriend while Austin's on the hunt for the perfect woman to love. Gina Robinson is a new to me author. I tried her out because I'm a sucker for cosplaying geek Heroes and Comic Con. This first installment to the Jet City Kilt series has me hooked on this sweet series. "Almost Jaime" isn't a stand alone book but part of a multi-book serial focusing on Blair and Austin. Gina Robinson has stacked the deck against this duo with nemeses, ex-boyfriends, a fickle fan base, and unhealthy relatives. "Almost Jamie" features secondary characters who appeared in the Billionaire Matchmaker series. You can see there's lots backstory between the characters but not enough to make you feel lost. I'm definitely hooked and I'm looking forward to see what's coming next. Next up "Almost Elinor". This is the story of Austin McDougall and quarter Scot’s American coder and a sweet, half English American doctor called Blair. Austin is proud of his heritage and dresses as Jamie, a character from a popular historical series. He meets Blair by accident when he hurts his hand. Blair is dressed as Elinor, his love interest on the show. He’s captivated by her from the instant he sees her and things quickly spiral as people think they are the real fictional characters. But after meeting his long time hero Stan Lee and being invited to go on a local TV program to promote the ‘Jamie’ show they start to feel like this is real. The story continues with Almost Elinor out soon.

Almost Jamie is book 1 in The Jet City Kilt Series I found it intriguing that a group of guys write a dating app and then got assistance in sprucing themselves up on their looks, the way they dress and how to interact with women. Geeky guys turn HOT! Blair is a doctor who recently ended a long term relationship. She is attending Comic-Con and fate brings her into contact with Austin when he is injured and she treats his injury. The guys invite her join them on their adventures for the day. I loved following along on their day. I felt like I was there making my way threw crowds right along with them. Will Austin get over his shyness and Blair open herself up so these two have a chance for a future together? I'm rooting for them! Can't wait for Book 2! I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I really liked the book! I am a Outlander fan and this book had some connection to that in a way. Great story, I’ll have to read Almost Elinor now.
