2.75 stars Seth is determined to make a new life with his two kids once he returns home after being away for 11 years. He never forgot the boy he fell in love with and when Jared comes back into his life, all his feelings, doubts and hurt come back full force. Jared lost his best friend eleven years ago and when he almost lost him two years ago he vowed to make Seth his once and for all. Now that he's come back to his life Jared is not missing his chance to be with Seth. Is the bond they forged as boys strong enough to hold up to the betrayals and the lies? Or will they never get the chance at all to make a life together? I enjoyed this story, but there were some things that fell flat for me. Both Seth and Jared were interesting characters to get to know, but their story was full of misunderstandings, assumptions and betrayal. I could understand where each was coming from, but their coming together didn't feel believable to me. Yes, there was a connection and chemistry, but they never were together as a couple when they were younger and eleven years had gone where they were apart from each other. It is because of this that I can't easily believe that they would get involved in a relationship immediately after finding each other. Add to that one sex scenes that felt out of place and some events that added nothing to the story and my disappointment kept growing. Although Jess Buffett's writing was emotional and entertaining, with an interesting conflict and a happily ever after, I just can't help but feel that Jared and Seth's story needed more. I believe that they needed more time to get to know each other, to make amends and to get used to being together, especially when they have two kids to think of. I do believe they are right for each other and that their love is genuine, I just think that it would help the believability factor if the story was longer and it spanned more than a few weeks. All in all, Always Been You is a sweet, romantic story of second chances and new beginnings. I received this title from the publisher through Manic Readers in exchange of my honest opinion.
Wow! Amazing story line and characters. Lots of depth to both Seth and Jared. The story sucked me in from the first page until the last. There's a bit of intrigue but it isn't the main focus. Fixing the past and building a future are the real motivations for the two of them. I would love to see this made into a series with stories for Tyler and Skye. Adult read
