We borrowed this from the library and it was an instant fave. My almost 4 yr old daughter loves it & has added it to her xmas list (Santa already has it hidden in the closet). It's well written, although some things I had to explain to her at her age, but she understood once we talked about it & she wants to borrow it all the time now. It's a nice simple story that reminds me of making pies & other things with my grandmother. :)

I gave this book five stars because the illustrations are wonderful and children can relate to the importance of family from this book. You could discuss safety in the kitchen, manners, obedience, measuring in order to bake acurately, and telling time. Almost everyone can relate to going to a relatives house at some point or another. I can remember baking cookies with my grandmother and making many mistakes. I know that my cookies may not have tasted all that great, but I would not have taken anything for the quality time spend with her. Family time is very important in a child's life, and we can instill that by letting them read this book.
