I thoroughly enjoyed this series. The artwork is great, and the two story lines that split up the 3 volumes keep you from tiring of one or the other. I think what made it so fascinating was the transition through the different eras of American history. The gunslinging west, the (still) West of Vegas in the 30's, and finally WWII and big cities. It gives a much wider perspective of these vampires, and the story only benefits from this. I would highly recommend American Vampire!

I feel like this is a very powerful series. While I love the expanse of time it has travled in just 3 volumes, it saddens me to think that given a couple more it may hit present day and then cease. This series in general has given vampires back their bite as well as looked at them in an all new, terrifying light. Of all the volumes thus far, having now established a firm background, and grand set, we know what to expect from the characters but are so wanting to see how they manage as escalating situation arise. I was much delighted by how the story played out, and without giving anything away, was sad to see some of my favorite characters go. (Although I have a sneaking suspicion we have not seen the end of some)This volume was an expansion on the premise of the previous ones, giving all the insight you wanted and hadn't gotten, and definitly some that you never even thought of before. To my very welcome suprise, it would apear this series has actually split into multiple, and this volume collects them here. Now you can follow each storyline as they unfold instead of waiting for one to give way to the other. Volume 4 is much anticipated!

The first one is so good as a classic cult movie. The second one is OK still interesting. The third one... the worst of these series so far...

Third in the xcellent American Vampire series. This volume has two stories based in World War II - one in the Pacific, one in Nazi Germany. I think is the best of the series so far.
