Analyses Of A Slave Mentality: Mental and Physical Bondage
Since movies, documentaries and television continue to open some wounds and create controversy, how do we move forward? Even though some of the material can be educational, it can also be disparaging. So again, some of the questions asked are... Did slavery truly have an effect on the African-American, or is used as a crutch in times of convenience? How big a role did the slave owners and the government have in creating a negative mentality? When did self-hate start and when does it end, if ever? Consequently, the slave mentality; generally thought to belong to those of color, crosses ethnic lines, and people of all backgrounds. Thinking that people should fit a category or stereotype is narrow-minded. The thought that nothing is wrong can be malignant. The mentality that society does not have to change according to civil and human rights, is detrimental to our country. Having some leaders that condone negative behavior towards others, breeds violence from within our own borders, all the while they want to build a border wall.
