Ancient Monuments of the United States is a brief survey of the remains of Native American Fortifications, Places of Worship, Sepulchral Mounds and other remains of the civilization that occupied the Eastern Seaboard and Mississippi Valley prior to European Colonization. Written in the mid 19th century by Ephraim George Squier, a leading archeologist of the time, this brief survey covers some artifacts that are no longer extant.
