“Now I know that every single day, the best and the worst, only lasts for twenty-four hours.”
—Tricia Lott Williford, And Life Comes Back
When your life falls apart—through a death, a lost relationship, a diagnosis—you want more than anything to know that your pain has a purpose. And that beyond your pain, a new day awaits.
Tricia Lott Williford discovered this in a few tragic hours when her thirty-five-year-old husband died unexpectedly. In And Life Comes Back, she writes with soaring prose about her tender, brave journey as a widow with two young boys in the agonizing days and months that followed his death.
And Life Comes Back documents the tenacity of love, the exquisite transience of each moment, and the laughter that comes even in loss. This traveler’s guide to finding new life after setbacks offers no easy answers or glib spiritual maxims but instead draws you into your own story and the hope that waits for you even now.

When I first got this book, I was really hesitant to read it. I don't like heart wrenching, devastating stories. This book was all that but so much more. This book is for anyone who wants a great story of God's grace and love, and his brilliant, loving way he takes care of us. It is for one who has lost a loved one to death or divorce and the sheer raw pain that goes with it. It was a captivating read! I knew what was coming, I wanted to put the book down but at the same time I couldn't. Tricia's grief exudes out of the pages. She takes me there in that moment her life changes forever and I feel and am able to empathize deeply. I want to scream with her, "No, Please God No!!" I do love how Tricia doesn't idealize her marriage which is so easy to do after a death or divorce. Yes she and her husband were best friends, lovers, partners and loved each other like crazy but she also doesn't hold back on the problems and issues--their not so great moments at marriage. Tricia's deep faith is what got her through the worst chapters of her life. Although tragic, this is a beautiful story, and I can't wait to read her next book and find out the next chapter in Tricia and her young son's lives...I have a feeling even more beauty is to come from this deep woman of faith. God heals and never leaves us--Tricia is proof. Waterbrook Publishing provided me with a complimentary copy of this book for an honest review.
I gave this book 5 stars because it was well written, easy to read and it kept me engaged. The writing took me through a wide range of emotions. The author helped me to understand the depth of her grief without giving me every devastating detail. I didn't want the book to end because I want to know the rest of the story, the family's continued journey to happiness and healing. I'm hoping that will be in the next book...
I've been reading Tricia's blog since just a few weeks after her husband passed away. As a faithful reader and true fan of hers, I was almost worried to read the book. What if it didn't live up to the expectations I had for her and her first book? What if I felt like I had already read this before, as most of her story is right there on the blog. Nope. I didn't need to worry about any of those things. This book is spectacular. I made myself put it down several times, just so I could savor it longer. Whether or not you've experienced profound loss in your life, this book is a must read. It made me laugh, cry (yes, the ugly cry), and everything in between. Such. A. Good. Book. Can't wait to read what she has in store for us next!
Tricia Lott Williford uses her own heartbreaking story to witness to us all about God's healing grace. The book depicts her life with her loving husband and two small sons, chronicles his tragic death, and carries the reader to the depths of her ensuing depression. Through it all it is evident that Tricia was willing to trust in the Lord, place herself and her children in His care, make sense of their new life through scripture, and write it all down to share with her readers. This book is one woman's beautifully written testimony of her journey to deep sadness and back to hope for a new tomorrow. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has walked the road of grief, to those just embarking on the journey, and to anyone who wishes to be inspired by one woman's beautiful rise from tragic ashes. My new favorite author. I can't wait to see what she has for us next!
