Ahmed is a little boy who spends his days with his family doing things he enjoys like going to the park and swimming in the ocean. Although he seems to be a typical two year old, mama has concerns that he may not be hearing. So off they go to the doctor and eventually to the audiologist who diagnoses a hearing loss. Fit with hearing aids, Ahmed is now able to enjoy the sounds of life. And So Ahmed Hears was written to increase public awareness about childhood hearing loss and to help alleviate some of the stigma associated with it.

About the Author

Author Dawn Doig, M.Sc., M.Ed, Aud(C), is the author of And So Ahmed Hears, a children's picture book which was published by Widex Canada as a humanitarian project in order to improve public awareness of childhood hearing loss. After a 23 year career as a certified Canadian audiologist working in four different countries, Dawn made a career change into teaching seven years ago and is currently employed as an ELL Coordinator at the American School of Yaounde in Yaounde, Cameroon, Africa. Dawn is also published the book What a Bath, a picture book that was written and illustrated for her young son. She self-published a baking cookbook, Just Frickin' Bake It, in Saudi Arabia in 2013. Dawn is happily married and has raised two children. She currently resides in Cameroon with her hubby and two very rambunctious but adoring female kitties. She gets her inspiration for her children's books from her family, the children she has had the pleasure of working with, and her feline friends. Dawn loves to travel and find inspiration for new books across the globe. Baking is a favourite, stress-relieving pastime. She loves to travel and recent escapades have included zip-lining through the rainforest in Thailand, hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, and mountain-biking down Death Road in Bolivia.
