You know, when I saw the title of this book, my first thought was "another sappy romance," which really are okay, but not worthy of five stars. However, Then Blooms Love surprised me. Yes--it's still a romance, but definitely NOT sappy. Five stars! Emme (Short, sort of, for Mary Elaine) has a big talent for flower arrangements and design, so of course she owns a flower shop. The only place she doesn't want to deliver to is to the Davenport Plantation, the home of her first love, Clifton Davenport, who dumped her to go overseas to study. Also the home of his mother, the manipulative woman who decided Mary Elaine, step daughter of the town drunkard, was not good enough for her son. So, of course, when a renown event planner offers her the chance to design and provide floral arrangements for a very large event at the Plantation, of course she refuses. And then has to backtrack because her van needs a payment, like yesterday, or else. And she's not about to accept help from her mother and her now-recovering alcoholic husband. Maybe Emme can remain anonymous and hide behind her assistant. She doesn't want to be seen by any of her ex-fiance's family. Especially Clifton, who is announcing his engagement to a South American magnate's daughter. Oh, what tangled webs we weave .... I received a free copy of this book from the author, but my opinions are still my own.

For the past four years plantation owner-manager, Clifton Davenport, could have been a father to the child that Emme Matthews is raising. For the past four years Clifton could have had his first love, Emme, by his side for encouragement and to brainstorm marketing ideas with—not to mention romance and laughter. The couple has been married for four years. Only they didn’t know it. Nope. They’ve not even had contact with each other since their broken engagement. Unbeknownst to the Davenports, Emme, the owner of The Flower Cottage, has been hired to do the floral arrangements for a special dinner at the Davenport Plantation—a dinner where Clifton announces his engagement to Brazilian heiress, Renata Mendes. Emme is shocked. Even more shocked when Renata’s uncle reports that Clifton is already married. I won’t describe Emme’s reaction when she finds out she is the other woman. This romantic comedy is a must read. The tension on each page will keep you reading until the happily ever after.
