Andrea de Cesaris was a Formula 1 driver who debuted with two "guest races" with Alfa Romeo during the 1980 season. He got his first ride with McLaren before Niki Lauda returned to racing and took his job, alongside teammate John Watson of Great Britain. Andrea was the son of a well established Philip Morris. Marlboro funded de Cesaris career nicely over the years. Andrea evolved from a driver with a reputation for wrecking machinery to a mid pack racer of considerable skill.
