The lovely Angelique Graham knows her strengths - and patience is not one of them. So, instead of waiting nine months to wed her beloved Simon, as per her overprotective parents' edict, Angelique decides to use Simon's cousin, the dashing Lord Faring - rake of all rakes - just back from war, to throw her parents into a panic.

After all, what parent in their right mind would want their daughter to be courted by the notorious Lord Faring?

Though Angelique has plotted and planned every move...it seems love has a different plan. When the game playing gets serious...will Angelique be able to resist the charms of Lord Faring? And once she discovers the man underneath the legend, will she even want to?

Fans of the traditional Regency will delight in this classic!

Editorial Reviews

Reviews - Library Journal
"Traditional, lighthearted, and predictable, this country Regency features several standards of the subgenre, including an engaging, hoydenish heroine, a reformed rake hero, a heroic rescue, and an aborted trip to Gretna Green."
Magazine - Romantic Times

Meet the Author

A lifelong lover of books, Suzanne Enoch has been writing them since she learned to read. She is the author of two well-received Avon Regencies, The Black Duke's Prize and Angel's Devil, and five Avon Romances: Lady Rogue, Stolen Kisses, By Love Undone, Taming Rafe and Reforming a Rake. Born and raised in Southern California, Suzanne lives a few scant miles from Disneyland with her collection of Star Wars action figures and a Cairn terrier named Katie (after the heroine of her first Regency). She's still looking for her own hero, and hopes he will be handsome, titled, and just a little wicked. Meanwhile, she's currently at work inventing him in her next historical romance.

I have never read anything by this author. I was pleasantly surprised. This book had a wonderful storyline. I finished the book in a day. It had no sex scene which is a plus for teens.

I enjoyed the story of Angel and James. Although the story was brief - coming in at less than 200 pages - I thought Ms. Enoch perfectly captured their relationship. I admit the subplot with Angel's fiance and best friend falling in love seemed a tad rushed and uber convienient, I bought it hook, line, and sinker. I also enjoyed the wit and biting exchanges that flew between Angel and James. My one complaint is a lack of an epilogue to show where this couple ended up. Overall, a quick and enjoyable romp.

Overall, this is a pretty cute story. It's a short and pretty enjoyable, but I was glad it didn't cost much. I liked the characters but there seemed to be an underlying weakness that didn't quite fit. I was expecting a little more defiance from the lead characters, and a lot more passion. There wasn't a single sex scene and very little kissing. While sex scenes aren't mandatory in a romance novel, they are expected, to a degree. I have to agree with another reviewer that this felt more appropriate for teenage readers. I would probably recommend this book to someone looking for a light read, along with a warning it might not meet expectations. Suzanne Enoch is still one of my preferred readers, but I'm hoping to come across more of her novels that have a hint more scandalous behavior. A little too innocent for my tastes but worth the read.

Clever banter between Angel and Devil. I enjoyed her young brother and sister and the pets, also.

Was not impressed. Its like the author needed to end it in 5 pages or less. Super chessey. There are better books.
