It has been over a decade since I last read Anne's diary. Anne's life is not easily forgotten though. I've been planning a reread for years but there's always so many other books to get to and it's always put on the back burner. It doesn't help that my mass paperback copy is so old I'm afraid it might fall apart. I'm officially in love with the idea of doing 'rereads' of classics with graphic novels from here on out. I sincerely hope Anne's story reaches newer generations thanks to this new adaptation. It is such an important part of history; a history that we don't want to forget and have repeated. The illustrations are wonderful. The artist has depicted Anne so well, with so many different moods and emotions. He really brought her to life on the page. As for Anne's diary, I think it speaks for itself. It's the true record of a young Jewish girl, hidden away with her family during the World War II and the Holocaust. Young readers will find it easy to relate to Anne, with her humor and wit, as well as her growth as a person. I'm glad to have revisited Anne's life in such a vivid and colorful way and plan on rereading the original once I buy a newer copy!

The graphic adaptation of the diary of Anne Frank was done beautifully. The illustrator did an excellent job to capture the spirits, the despair, the anxiety, the daily struggles and the deep soul of young Anne. The text were drawn from the actual diary. As per the notes by the illustrator, this graphic adaptation was not an easy task. Imagine summarizing the entire diary using illustrations and staying true to Anne's thoughts required efforts, and the illustrator nailed it just right. I would, however, suggest to read the actual diary first before reading the graphic adaption. A great purchase and I can see myself reading this graphic novel again and again later.
