Luke Archer is the youngest of the brothers, and I have highly anticipated reading his story in this exciting series. And the heat was high between Luke and Bella. The high school lovers reunited were on fire, their chemistry was great, and the connection immediate even after all the years they had been apart. There was a third party, Ed, that was in the picture at the beginning, but then suddenly he wasn't an issue. I would have liked to see that resolved before Luke and Bella moved forward. I loved how Granny got some screen time as well and we got to know more about her past and the wild days of her youth. The suspense was intense, the topic popular and very much part of today's politics. And that's where the story fell for me, the political opinions that were repeated several times. They had a debate on the matter and constantly brought the immigration issues up and it felt unnecessary. It didn't add to the plot, yet took away much from the enjoyment of the story. Everyone reading the book knows that a homeland security officer will enforce the law, his personal opinions and mostly how he came forward with his opinion was unattractive. How he talked about the people crossing the border not being humans would have made me walk away from him and fast. Also, there were some statements of green card holders that I would like to fact check. Immigration is a sensitive subject matter in today's world and in my opinion the author took a risk to bring it up as it was. But when it was assumed that "the whole world was watching" when Texas college American football was on national television in the USA, I realized that 'the world' where the characters were operating in was rather limited and small. The romance between Bella and Luke was enticing and sexy. I liked how the past didn't bring too much angst into their relationship. I also appreciated that Judge humbled himself and apologized for his actions in the past. It was a great, happy ending for the family and the series. Towards the end of the book, it was more about action instead of building up the case, and that made the pages fly and bring intensity and interest into the tale. I really wish the author didn't have the need to bring their political opinions into their work so dominantly, taking away so much of the enjoyment of the tale. ~ Two Spoons

Another Chance is the third and final book in Kathy Clark’s Austin Heroes series which centers around three brothers in law enforcement and their pot-smoking grandma. The family is based in Austin, Texas and there is a common theme where each brother finds love while he is in the middle of an investigation. Another Chance has an interesting storyline because it actually does a great job of wrapping the series up in a nice bow and gives us some background about grandma that I wasn’t expecting but very much appreciated. The hero in this story is Homeland Security agent Luke Archer. Although he is based in Washington, DC, he ends up back home in Austin as he is tracking a terrorist cell that likely crossed the Texas/Mexico border in order to get into the United States. As if that wasn’t complicated enough, he runs into his high school sweetheart, Isabella “Bella” Shaw. They were supposed to have had a fairytale life but something happened that prevented that. The problem is that there is a little confusion as to what exactly that was. Luke and Bella are clearly still attracted to each other so the fun is just beginning. As they work things out, they have no trouble showing how compatible they still are in the bedroom. The real problems arise as they begin to unravel the mystery of their breakup because it ends up involving important people from both of their families. I can’t reveal any more than that because it’s an essential part of this storyline. Luckily, the action doesn’t stop there. Both Luke and Bella end up knee deep in trying to stop a terrorist attack at a popular Austin venue. I really enjoyed Another Chance. As with the other two books, there is a lot that is taught about love, loss, family, and forgiveness. Kathy Clark does a good job of making everything seem realistic and not forced. I liked how Bella and Luke find their way back to each other as well as the injection of another love story that you will have to read to understand. I just may have to read some other books in Kathy Clark’s catalog. **Received a copy from the publisher, Loveswept, and reviewed the book voluntarily.**

I haven't read the previous books in this series by Kathy Clark, but will do so after reading this one. This is Luke and Bella's story. Luke is the baby in the family of 4, his brothers all alpha males are in law enforcement in form or another. The boys parents died when they were young and they were raised by "grammy" I loved her. Grammy is the 70 year old flower child who still smokes a little weed for medicinal purposes and loves all 4 of her boys. Luke and Bella have history. Friends since elementary school, blossomed into love in high school and they made plans for the future. A future that never comes to pass and each assuming the worst about each other they haven't seen or spoken to each other in 14 years. Luke now works for Homeland Security in DC, Bella is a successful attorney and a Senator, living in Austin where they book takes place. Luke is there because his job brought him there and Bella still owns the family ranch which abuts the Mexican border. Along with illegals, they have noticed an increase in middle eastern illegals and have very good reason to believe they are part of a terrorist cell. Bella and Luke run into each other by accident initially after a warehouse raid occurs near her home and he's guarding the perimeter. But he knows he's going to have to talk to her because he wants to set up surveillance cameras on the ranch. These two hedge around each other initially until they finally talk about what happened between them and whose hand played the role in keeping them apart. The story takes off as they try to track down these men, add to that the relationship unfolding between Bella and Luke. What a great story this is. I liked the plot, I loved both MC's. They were two people you could relate to. Two people who were duped, and despite their anger didn't let it interfere with their relationship. His brothers and Grammy added a lot to the story and a wonderful story and revelation about Grammy and her past comes to light. This book is a must read, I'm adding Ms Clark to my reading list!! **arc from NetGalley and Entangled** in exchange for an honest review.

Another great story in the final book of Ms Clark's series titled, Austin Heroes which centered around three brothers. I have loved the previous stories, and this one did not disappoint me. On the contrary, I was sad to have the series end. The author creates likable, imperfect characters that you come to love. Add realistic plots, hunky heroes and strong heroines and you know it will be a book you'll enjoy. In this story we have Bella, a lawyer, and Luke, a Homeland Security Agent . They were HS sweethearts and due to misunderstandings and external intervention, were torn apart. They meet again, 14 years later, when Luke returns to Austin to work on a case in which they need access to Bella's family ranch. Will they be able to overcome previous hurts, and external threats, so they can get a second chance at love? Pick up the book and find out. It will be more than worth your time. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book for Netgalley. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

Bella and Luke were high school sweethearts. Luke went to Florida college and Bella stayed in Austin. She became a successful lawyer and state senator. Luke is with Homeland Security   where he tracks terrorist coming in with illegals. Bella's ranch is being used to sneak the illegals through. Luke and his team wants to set up cameras around her ranch to keep an eye out for terrorists. Bella goes out to her ranch and is kidnapped by terrorist who are planning a airborne attack with deadly gas. Luke rushes to find her before they kill her and millions of others. A pot smoking Grammy. Terrorists. Old hurt feelings. A father who made the same mistake as his father. A second chance at love. Some really hot sex. *RECEIVED A COPY FROM NETGALLEY*

I so enjoyed this book and finally getting to know Luke. He is the youngest Archer brother and an analyst at Department of Homeland Security. He has big shoes to fill with his older brothers Justin, a Texas Ranger, and Nick, a decorated DEA agent, but he holds his own in this third installment of the series. He is back in Austin and hunting terrorists who are coming over the border with illegal aliens from Mexico. He runs into Bella Shaw, his high school love, and the chemistry is still burning bright even after so many years and misunderstanding that broke them up. We also get a glimpse into Grammy's past and find out more about her and she gets an HEA too! There are lots of twists and turns and sexy, hot, makeup time. This story could be pulled right of the headlines of today and the added romance was beautifully told. This book is the third in the series but definitely could be read as a standalone without missing anything. I highly recommend this book along with the first two books in this series. **Received a copy of this from the publisher via NetGalley**

Not having read the first two books in the Austin Heroes series, I wasn't sure how I'd feel about coming in at the end of the series with this story. Sometimes it's difficult to try to catch up with the storylines and past characters, but this author did a remarkable job with the backstory and keeping the characters alive through their appearances here. Luke comes from a family of Alpha males all in law enforcement, all with alarmingly fun senses of humor...there were several laugh out loud moments...what do you do when your marijuana smoking grandmother lights up in front of a drug detection K9 whose partnered with a DEA of the grandsons...the poor animal was definitely confused. Luke shows that you can go home again, even after fourteen years away, he came back to a love once lost, but now reawakened. Bella and Luke's quick wit and hilarious banter was enthralling. They definitely were perfect for each other...the author's descriptive writing...especially during the high schools years...clearly brought out the emotion in the love lost between Luke and Bella. There was plenty of angst filled moments of young love, first for Gammy and Paul (the judge) in the 60's during the Summer of Love in San Francisco, the second for Luke and Bella, during their high school years, but tied together through the judge, Bella's father, ran parallel to each other through parental interference, well meaning, though misguided. There was plenty of suspense because of the terrorist premise of the story, but at the same time there were several heart tearing twists and turns that drove the romantic aspect. The story flowed seamlessly from beginning to end...grabbing your emotions from the first page. The emotional investment created by the characters will stay with me long after I finished the last page. I'm glad I was introduced to the Archer family, even if it was late in the game. This book was provided by the Publisher and Netgalley, I am voluntarily providing for my honest review.

Loved this book! I think Luke is my favorite Archer. He works for Homeland Security but still feels the pressure of following in the shadow of his older brothers. With a Texas Ranger and a DEA agent to follow, those are pretty big shadows. Luke is hot on the heels of terrorists getting across our borders through Mexico and he is part of the task force working to shut them down. When he returns to Austin he is reunited with his high school girlfriend, Bella Shaw, since it is her land that is being used for the crossing. The spark between them is still as bright as ever and when the truth about what happened in the past comes to light they know that they need to explore what is between them once again. But how will this affect the investigation and how far will Luke have to go to keep Bella safe?? Definitely a book for the must read list. I highly recommend it.

Kathy Clark has done it again with her Austin Heroes! This is the third in this series but they can be read as stand alone leisure time enjoyment. Luke Archer works for Homeland Security behind a desk in Washington DC. He has emerged and traveled to Austin in hopes of stopping terrorists. This temporary assignment has led to a chance meeting with a love he lost fourteen years ago. Bella Shaw and Luke are made an interesting pair by Clark. Lots of Love, Betrayal, and action follow these two. Also a hoot in this installment we again meet the Archer granny, what a character!! Author and publisher via Netgalley have allowed me to read this for an honest review.
