Overview

After months of hard work, Emma is ready to launch her new cosmetics line. To celebrate, she's treating herself to a spa week at Camp Firefly Falls. One problem: when she arrives, she learns she signed up for something very different--Scout Wars, a heated battle between former Girl and Boy Scouts. Instead of seaweed wraps and mud baths, Emma's looking at a week of merit badges and cookouts. She considers dropping out...until the infuriating leader of the boys' group suggests she's too much of a city girl to hack it.

Max's life is pretty great. He's the co-owner of a local business and is becoming a respected member of the community. It may even be time to find a sweet local girl to share that life. Emma isn't sweet or local, but from the minute they meet, Max can't get her out of his head. So long as she's only there a week, what's the harm in a little friendly, flirtatious competition?

It's all fun and games...until someone loses their heart. Will they walk away at the end of the week, or are they playing for keeps?

A sweet, sexy love story. Max and Emma start off with a major attraction to each other. They have both received warnings from their best friends to stay away. They work through their preconceived notions about the bother one, and embark on a slightly bumpy road to a relationship. I enjoyed Max and Emma's snarky dialogue. There were moments that were fun, and funny. Max, his sister Holly and their competitive nature added to the overall fun. I voluntarily read and reviewed this Advanced Reader Copy.

Who knew summer camp for adults could be so much fun? Emma and Max do a whole lot of flirting at the wedding of her friend Ruby and his friend Josh when she's the maid of honor and he's the best man. They're definitely attracted to each other but neither one of them would ever acknowledge the sparks they feel, especially when Josh and Ruby have specifically warned them away. But when they find themselves in close proximity as competitors in the Scout Wars games at Camp Firefly Falls their one night stand turns into so much more than just scratching an itch. This story is an entertaining war between the sexes that grows into a heartwarming journey of the heart. I read a complimentary copy of this book and all opinions expressed in my voluntary review are completely my own.

Anything You Can Do by Lily Danes Camp Firefly #16 The song with the book’s title popped into my mind as soon as I read it – did you know the lyrics were written by Irving Berlin for the Broadway play “Annie Get Your Gun”? I remember seeing and hearing it but had forgotten exactly where it originated. I just watched a few versions of it on YouTube and that was fun – especially with Hugh Jackman and Neil Patrick Harris…Anyway…this is not a musical but it is as much fun and just as entertaining :) Emma is bridesmaid for her friend Ruby and Max is best man for Josh at the wedding that took place at Camp Firefly. Both Ruby and Josh want to save their best friends from heartache and heartbreak so warn their attendants to stay away from one another. They were just looking out for their besties BUT Emma and Max are attracted to one another so…will they listen to the advice they have been given or not? Both are surprised the next day to find out that they will be spending a week at Camp Firefly competing against one another trying to prove whether the men’s team or the women’s team are best at various scout-based activities. Well, a week is plenty of time for them to begin wondering if there might be a future for them together even if they live a great distance from one another. Will they opt for some fun times at camp? Will they listen to the advice of their friends? Or, will they listen to their hearts? This story was filled with fun events, entertaining situations, some steam, some soul searching, sharing, caring and it proved to be a very enjoyable escape for me this summer day. It took me back, in some ways, to summer camps I once attended as a camper and a counsellor…and the fun times I had long ago :) Thank you to the author for the ARC – This is my honest review. Oh…can’t get the song out of my head now ;) 4-5 Stars
