The book Ape Plays with His Father was inspired by the authors love for the game hide and seek, which she fondly plays with her older sisters, Shanice, Sydney, and Samara. The highlight of the book, where Apple saw Apes reflection in the mirror, was an idea that came about from the authors love for science, and she actually learned this concept that same day, when she sat down to put her ideas on paper.
