I have read the series from the beginning. This one was very confusing to me and just didn't make sense in the chronological order of the series. In #2 - Redemption, Gilles is already a widow. In this book - #5, his wife Ann is alive but very ill. It's as if this book should have been #2 in the series. The plot started of great but then became too muddled with characters, events, etc. Even though I read the last few chapters twice, I still can't figure this one out. It just didn't make any sense to me. I really enjoyed the 4 earlier books but this one just wasn't up to par.
