Ashes at Grumble Bluff
Katherine Anne and Greta are best friends who have just endured the toughest year imaginable. Not only were they ostracized and bullied at school, but they shared the tragedy of Greta's father's illness and death. Now, it looks like the girls might have to deal with another upheaval in their young lives. Greta's absentee mother has arrived from New York to claim her daughter. How will Greta cope with being torn away from Grumble Bluff; the magical forested ravine where she feels peace and freedom and contentment, and where her wonderful father's ashes are scattered? And how will Katherine Anne survive without her one and only true friend? "Ashes at Grumble Bluff" is the honest, poignant and often humorous look at the tumultuous life of two average teenage girls who are dealing with the pain, fear and joy that life dishes out...and doing it with remarkable maturity and humor. Growing up is tough. Katherine Anne and Greta are tougher.

About the Author

Author Karen Bessey Pease writes an award-winning column for The Original Irregular; a local newspaper serving the western Maine region. In her column "Observations from The F.A.R.M. (Fresh Air and Room to Move)" Karen writes humorous and sometimes touching stories about life in rural Maine, about living off the beaten path, raising country kids and properly educating a husband.
Karen is the author of the highly acclaimed young adult novel, Grumble Bluff and has completed two sequels: Ashes at Grumble Bluff and Home to Grumble Bluff.
In addition to her Grumble Bluff series, Karen has recently completed a novella and a full-length novel. Bee Dazzle and Following Seas, written with friend and co-author Eugene Saint, were the result of online games of "Writers' Tag." A sequel to Bee Dazzle is in the works.
In her spare time, Karen is busy writing novels, columns and poems and learning the ins and outs of marketing her work. She is available for book signings and speaking engagements and welcomes feedback from her readers.
Karen lives with her family and pets on a 70 acre homestead in the western mountains of Maine.
