This is the second book in the series and like others I had an advanced copy. I really loved the first book, but this one was amazing! You don't have to read Assassin's Honor to understand Assasin's Heart, but you will want to. Assassin's Heart is almost impossible to put down. It is a roller coaster of emotion and danger. Monica Burns writes incredible stories with incredible characters and the sex isn't bad either. :) Buy it, you will LOVE it.

One year ago the Praetorian Guard captured Sicari assassin Lysander. They tortured him, but that is not what disturbed him the most about his captivity. He learned to his horror that he is half Praetorian; every time he looks in a mirror he sees the monster he is and hides from his peers. After escaping, feeling less then worthy by not being a purebred Sicari, Lysander ended his promising relationship with healer Phaedra DeLuca. He has successfully avoided her until now. Lysander and Phaedra travel to Rome together to search for the ancient artifact, the Tyet of Isis. The pair shares a dream about an ancient Rome couple Maximus and Cassiopeia whose lives ended tragically. As they struggle with their attraction and the strange nightmare, a Praetorian, aware of Phaedra's skills, plans to snatch her. The second Order of Sicari romantic urban fantasy (see Assassin's Honor) is an exhilarating second chance at love suspense thriller. The keys to this fine tale are the fully developed lead characters, the Burns world that enhance the growing feelings that the heroes are in deep trouble and the dreams of the Ancient Rome star-crossed lovers. Assassin's heart is terrific mostly because of Lysander who psychologically feels unworthy of Phaedra as he fights against half his nature and, his love for his companion who desperately wants to heal him though he says no. Monica Burns provides a fabulous fantasy. Harriet Klausner

Assassin's Heart is a fantastic story in the new Order of the Sicari series. Monica's characters are sensual, honorable, protective, and stubborn. I'm impressed with the depth of Assassin's Heart and Monica makes you "feel" the love as it's developing between the characters. Interactions are intense and can be extremely emotional, often sensual. This one is a real page turner and I couldn't put it down. I really liked Assassin's Honor (first in the Order of the Sicari series) and as good as that was, this one was even better! I highly recommend Assassin's Heart! It's romantic and sensual and I feel confident you'll love it too! Don't miss it!

So to start Monica Burns has sent me advance reads of this series so I have a bit of a jump on reading it. I loved the Assassin's Honor and I LOVE Assassin's Heart even more. I can say that I liked the story of Lysander and Phaedra a bit better then Ares and Emma. I'm not saying the 1st book was bad because it was really good. The back story of Cloe and who her father really is was a little hint of what might come in the next book and I would love to hear more about how they come to terms with the lies. This series is getting better and better and I can't wait to read the next one. One a side note Assassin's Honor was the first Monica Burns book that I've read and she has now been added to my list of favorite authors. Pick it up, you will not be let down.

Assassin's Heart (Book 2) is fantastic just like Assassin's Honor (Book 1)! This is a book you just have to add to your MUST READ list and don't miss Assassin's Honor either. Monica Burns is a great author and I love her books! I can't wait to read more from her in the future. I highly recommend both Assassin's Heart AND Assassin's Honor! If you love romance, you'll love these books and they are definitely sizzling hot! 5 STARS!

Assassin¿s Heart is the second novel in Monica Burns¿ Order of Sicari series. The night over a year ago when Lysander¿s world came crashing around his ears has left him more than just disfigured, it left him longing for a woman he still loves and vows he can never have, a way of life he still honors and a way to exterminate even more a Praetorian enemy who threatens his ¿Assassin¿s Heart¿. Phaedra witnessed the murder of her parents when she was just a child and she¿ll never forget the voice of the monster who committed it, now she¿s all grown up in love with a man who threw that love back in her face after the night he almost died. Lysander and Phaedra are sharing a dream of ancient Rome and possibly a past life where they were a couple, they¿ll need to uncover the reason for these dreams or die again trying.Ms. Burns second in her Sicari series is more intense and a more sensual love story then the first one, perhaps it¿s because it¿s my favorite kind of romance, that of second chances but whatever the reason you¿ll find one heck of a plot between the pages of this novel, you¿ll also find a dialogue that will transport you to the different locales of the story through her impressive vivid depictions. Her hero and heroine in this read are larger than life as they both lead two lives one past and one present and as I said above the romance is that of second chances and is presented to her audience with turmoil and unbelievable obstacles that makes their HEA that much more deserving. The love scenes are earthy, sensual and graphic so make sure you¿ve got your personal fan waver to ward off the excessive heat along with a tall glass of something cool to quench your thirst. If you haven¿t yet immersed yourself in the secret Sicari society let Assassin¿s Heart be your first as it does very well as a stand a lone, but why diminish your joy also get Assassin¿s Honor to go to the beginning and not miss a beat or the swish of a sword.

I liked this book much better than the first. Lysander is the most interesting character for me, even with his dark side. Phaedra irritated me for a while, though; she seemed to lose the tough side she had in Assassin's Honor, but she perked back up later. I'm also very interested to see where the story will go from here -- there are many more characters I want to know more about.
