A very sweet story of two people who didn’t plan on falling in love. Neither of them had time for a relationship. Both have been hurt badly from their last relationships. It was all planned out. Rachel Cassidy’s friends have wanted her to start dating for a while now. The bachelor auction was just the right time. They put their money together and bid on one of the bachelors. He was Ryan Henderson, a Parisian-trained chef who worked at Grey’s Saloon. After Rachel’s failed marriage, she moved back home to Marietta to be near her family. She is now a family physician and focusing on her patients with very little time for a social life, other than getting together every once in a while with her friends. Ryan moved back home to help take care of his elderly grandmother. He spends his time taking care of her when he isn’t working. When Rachel’s friends win him in the auction, he just plans on cooking her a nice birthday dinner at her home. Things heat up quickly and not just in the kitchen.

A very sweet (pun intended) read. Though the relationship seems to go fast. It's not in a bad way. Good book.

I absolutely loved this book! I loved the chemistry between Rachel and Ryan. I loved the idea of a guy making a cake every day to show how much he loves her.

**I received an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion** Rachel, as a doctor is a smart cookie; as a woman, she's brokenhearted. For a birthday gift, her friends "buy" her a bachelor at a fundraiser auction. The prize--Ryan, a gourmet chef extraordinaire. And, his gift ends with an unexpected "extra" dessert. Suddenly, they're friends with benefits. The problem with that is sometimes the heart wants more than the other will give based on life's other obligations. Neither is good with interpersonal relationships--trust issues galore. But, Ryan finds a way back into Rachel's heart, and together, they find a way to balance life, and love.

Bachelor at Her Bidding by Kate Hardy is book #2 in the Bachelor Auction series by published by Tule Publishing, and is a good addition to this Bachelor Auction series. In this book we have Ryan Henderson as our bachelor, Ryan is a hot pastry chef who is back in Marietta, Montana to take care of his ill grandmother, a responsibility he takes very seriously, so seriously that he put his own dreams on hold. Dr. Rachel Cassidy comes back to Marietta after a bitter divorce. At the auction Rachel's sister and a friend bid on Ryan, win and give Rachel the date with Ryan. Neither have the inclination or time for dating but you can guess it, they are attracted to each other. Read the book to see how these two reach their HEA. This book by Kate Hardy is a quick read that had me wanting my own chef bachelor. A good read by an author new to me but one I would read again.

Reviewed by Natasha Jackson for Readers' Favorite Bachelor At Her Bidding by Kate Hardy is the story of Ryan Henderson and Rachel Cassidy. Ryan is roped into being auctioned off for charity, even though he really doesn’t want to date. Ryan has come back to Marietta to help care for his aging grandmother. Dr. Rachel Cassidy has returned home to Marietta after a marriage gone bad, and she definitely isn’t in the market for a relationship. But anything can happen at a bachelor auction when a gourmet cooked meal is offered along with hunky eye candy. Kate Hardy does a wonderful job illustrating the chemistry between Ryan and Rachel, as well as their reluctance to act on it. That’s part of what makes this story so special because you truly believe Ryan and Rachel have no interest in romantic entanglements, they aren’t just paying lip service. Bachelor At Her Bidding is a great small town romance filled with great characters. Both Ryan and Rachel have pretty disgusting exes that have tainted their views on love and commitment. Their budding friendship quickly morphs into a casual affair that burns hot and bright. What I liked most about this story from Kate Hardy is that you can actually see the friendship that develops despite their wicked hot chemistry! They seem to like each other as much as they want each other, making this story more enjoyable and romantic. Add in a sexy chef with a bunch of Parisian recipes and you have a story that is ripe for tension and steamy love scenes. And who can resist a guy who brings his A game to apologize?

Bachelor # 2 brings food and romance. Rachel Cassidy is back in Marietta after a painful divorce that has shaken her self-esteem. She is busy building her family practice and has no desire for a man, much less a relationship. Chef Ryan Henderson, who trained in Paris, gave up a chance at his own restaurant in a bigger city to come home to Marietta and take care of the Grandmother who raised him and is showing signs of dementia. Ryan has been recruited for Marietta's Bachelor Auction, offering a gourmet meal to the highest bidder. Rachel's friends decide the dinner would be a great birthday present, and win him for Rachel. These two spark right away, but are gun-shy when it comes to a relationship. They decide to enjoy the right now, but keep it to themselves. There is hurt and misunderstanding on both side, and Ryan has to convince Rachel to give him another chance...and the way he does it was amazingly yummy! This was a quick read that, while part of a series, works well on its own. I loved the descriptions of Ryan's food, especially his desserts, and would really love his famous Red Velvet Cheesecake...yum! A fun addition to the Bachelor Auction and Marietta in general.

I like this Bachelor Auction series, it has been a lovely surprise for me. First, let me just get this out there, the desserts and cakes Ryan is making are a delight, and brought back a lot of great memories to me. Made me want to go to the kitchen and create a cake again. Ah, the pastry chef in me was getting a treat indeed. Okay, back to the book review... Ryan and Rachel have both been hurt by the people they loved. Their trust is hard to come by, and they are vulnerable, fragile, stubborn and a bit ornery when it comes to issues they were let down and hurt before. Nothing happens fast, they have weeks of getting to know each other, they pretend to have just a fling, but feelings do get involved, things get complicated, and feelings get hurt. But it took ten days with glorious cakes, and true graveling from Ryan, for Rachel to give up her stubborn streak, and to be able to vulnerable, to trust again. The story is well written, with a lovely flow in it, that took me right into it, and I read it in one sitting. Yes, it is a novella, but it is an interesting story, and the issues are real, how the dementia of Ryan's grandmother was dealt with was actual and authentic, and heartwarming. The problems in the past, and current, relationships were true and raw, and how they were dealt was satisfying. The tale is easy to relate to on many levels, and great addition to the stories from Marietta, Montana ~ Four Spoons

Ryan Henderson is back in Marietta Montana. He's there to take care of his grandmother. He put his dreams of opening a restaurant on hold so that he could provide the care she needs. He has no social life and he's fine with that. Suddenly he's taking part in a Bachelor Auction. What happens when the winner is a beautiful woman that he's attracted to? Rachel Cassidy is beautiful inside and out. Her divorce has left her broken and unsure. Her ex had no honor. Ryan and Rachel are perfect together. I enjoyed their flirting and their lively banter. This man is pure temptation as are his desserts. The story is filled with passion, heartbreak and humor. I love Marietta and her people. Carol Bingley adds some spice with her gossipy comments. Their romance is passionate with a touch of sorrow. Ryan's relationship with his grandmother had me in tears. Kate Hardy wrote a highly emotional story that left me feeling good.

Review 3 1/2 stars. I had a really hard time with the beginning of Bachelor at Her Bidding. Ryan and Rachel's relationship just moved way to quick for me. I did really enjoy the ending of Ryan winning Rachel back by cakes and chocolate slade's with messages. The desserts just sounded sinful.  I received an ARC for a honest and fair review.

Here comes Bachelor #2, Ryan, a chef, who is bought as a birthday gift from a group of women, for the new Doctor in town, Rachel Cassidy. For their date Ryan prepares a dinner for Rachel. So yummy! Both are cming off previous bad relationships and not looking for for love. Ryan gives Rachel much more than food though. Who doesn't love food and love. I am a sucker for it and loved it. All those wonderful sweets that Ryan prepared to win over Rachel, put five pounds on me, by just reading. Loved this story, along with the other Bachelor Auction books. They are all stand alone books, but highly recommend that you read them all.

This was a fun story. Ryan, a professional chef,  was guilted into being a part of the bachelor auction to replace someone who backed out. He wasn't in the market for a girlfriend, or even a date, but it was for a good cause so he agreed. Rachel is a doctor and after her divorce she did't want to be in any kind of relationship. But thanks to her friends she ended up with the date with Ryan. I loved both Ryan and Rachel, they made quite a team. The descriptions of the cookng, especially the cakes, were drool-worthy. I would have loved to have Ryan cook for me.  Wonderful story with a great ending. I highly recommend this story.
