Tales from Grace Chapel Inn: Back Home Again by Melody Carlson

Back Home Again is one of more than twenty-five books in the series Tales from Grace Chapel Inn. Once readers visit the charming village of Acorn Hill, they’ll never want to leave. And they’ll love spending time with the Howard sisters, who have begun a new life together in their childhood home, a gracious Victorian house that is now a bed and breakfast called Grace Chapel Inn. Here they rekindle old memories, rediscover the bonds of sisterhood, revel in the blessings of friendship, and meet many fascinating guests along the way. The sleepy town of Acorn Hill, tucked away in rural Pennsylvania, is in for quite a surprise. After Daniel Howard, the adored minister of Grace Chapel, passes away, his three spirited daughters reunite to remember their father, and find out that each has inherited a share of his worn-down Victorian house. As the three wander through rooms rich with childhood memories, Louise, the eldest, dreams of a small music conservatory where she can give lessons, Alice, who has always lived in Acorn Hill and is very involved with the church, thinks the house would be perfect for a youth ministry, and Jane, a splendid cook, would like to open a restaurant. The squabbling begins… as does a brilliant idea. Grace Chapel Inn—a unique bed-and-breakfast—is born. But where will they find the money to renovate it? How will they divvy up the work of running a B&B? What will the community think about all the strangers traipsing into their town?

This is an enjoyable read. It begins with the death of the characters beloved Father. Three sisters come together and decide to renovate their inherited family home and open a bed and breakfast. The local towns people are all concerned and many questions arise. The story openly shares the grief of losing a loved one. It also talks of starting over for 3 middle aged sisters who come together again as a family. The author presents some welcomed wisdom and advice for dealing with such troubles.

I had actually purchased this book as a gift. I have read about 6 of the books from this series "Tales from Grace Chapel Inn." And I intend to read them all. It is very very good reading. Slow, and Easy. A calming book series. You get so caught up with each character in the book, and as you pick up the next book in the series, you are right there at the Inn again. Sort of like the Mitford Series by Jan Karon. There are so many disturbing books out there now that you read, and this one just so settling. You can't wait to get into the next book. LOVE THEM, have recommended to many.

I came across this series in the Guid Post book store online. I'm so glad I decided to purchase them. I have several, but unfortunately can only read one at a time. I really loved this one because of the theme-God, a B & B, togetherness and a small town. The only thing better than this would be if it were one of my own books(I'm a writer-Fiction) and had been set in Scotland. Thank You for this book, I feel as though it might some how help me come closer to God myself.

Grace Chapel Inn, located in the village of Acorn Grove, gets its beginning in the sweet, light first book that is now extended to almost 50 books.  Melody Carson authors this first book in this Christian series about three sisters and their Bed and Breakfast, the Grace Chapel Inn.  Various other Christian authors take turns in continuing this interesting series on Christian life, problems, friendships and faith.  In this book, the sisters reunite after their minister father dies and leaves his old Victorian House equally to all three women. Alice, a single full time nurse, has been living with her father in this house all of her life.  Older sister, Louise, is widowed and lives teaching piano in Philadelphia.  Youngest sister Jane, whose birth cost her mother her life, is a chef and artist who has just gone through a difficult divorce in San Francisco. All three are very different people, but their father's legacy has them joining forces to restore the old family home so that they can open up a Bed and Breakfast.  Ideas clash, neighbors put in their negative and positive thoughts, and friendships and  God's Grace finds the Grace Chapel Inn finally opening to many new adventures.   The characters are different but definitely draw the reader into this story.  Issues which call upon Godly prayer and solutions make this story very compelling.  Looking forward to further adventures for these women and their future guests in the next books.

I just got my nook, and Melody Carlson is one of my favorite authors. I was looking through her books and saw that this one was only 99 cents. I bought it and cannot put it down. It is a beautiful and heartwarming story.

Not much depth to the characters in this book. Everything is just a little too perfect.
