This is a great continuation of the first book and unlike many series, doesn't loose anything when compared to book one. Book two gives a much deeper look into Rhane. We learn more about him (which is horribly interesting) and also get a glimpse into what it means for him to be the Banewolf. And it's not necessarily all it's cracked up to be. I gained a much deeper respect for Rhane and came out of the book cheering for him more than before. Kali also gains a nice aspect. Although she's waiting, she doesn't lean back and wait. I love how she dives into training to learn how to protect herself. She's full of spunk and life, and simply easy to sympathize with. The story itself is fast paced and won't let the reader go (which considering the length, isn't good for those of us who like to read interesting books in one sitting.) There's action, tension, twists and turns and everything needed to keep me wondering what was going to happen next. There are still a lot of unanswered questions, so I'm expecting book 3 to maintain this high level and can't wait to see what it brings. I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

It is a slow beginning but it more than makes up for that with that ending. Man oh man this book is a good one, it sets up for an epic third book with so many secrets left for one to wonder about. Kali and Rhane are back with even more problems than they had in the first book. Kali is learning more about her past which is something I really liked, how you got to see her re-experience her past lives and how they fit together to help her with what was currently going on. I liked also how much Kali trains to get better and stronger instead of sitting around for Rhane and the group to save her, I know that is what they say they are there for, but I also understand Kali not wanting to be weak and wanting to do something for herself. We also learn a little bit more about Rhane and what he is all dealing with that the Banewolf is not all it is cracked up to be. The only thing I keep getting hung up on is that Rhane is so much older than Kali. I know, I know they were lovers in Kali's previous life and age shouldn't matter but she is seventeen, that has to be effecting her judgement some what. Though I will say Rhane is a good guy he could use their past as an excuse to do almost anything he wanted but love doesn't take advantage of stuff like that so it is done well.

Banewolf is the second book in the Dark Siren series and it is a belter! The story continues where book 1 left off, although Kali has learned a new skill with regards to staying underwater. Rhane and Kali come back together again and life continues. It is hard for Kali to adjust, especially with all the changes and challenges she has faced and continues to face. There is action aplenty, and the story becomes more intricate as politics now plays a part. Kali is remembering more of her memories of when she was with Rhane in a previous life, and answers become clear on why certain things happened. Absolutely fantastic continuation that will leave you wanting more... immediately! Brilliant book and series. Highly recommended. * I received this book from Xpresso Reads in return for a fair and honest review. * Merissa Archaeolibrarian - I Dig Good Books!
