Barefoot at Midnight by Roxanne St. Claire

Roxanne St. Claire's "Timeless" books celebrate the appeal of the silver fox hero! A little older, a lot wiser, and completely sexy, the heroes in the Barefoot Bay Timeless books are men in their 40's and 50's who find a second chance at love. Roxanne says her readers aren't 23...so why should the man of their dreams be that young? The Timeless books are all set on the moon-washed beaches of Barefoot Bay, a tropical island paradise that has been the setting for many beloved romances by this author. Joining the billionaires, brides, and bodyguards on the beach, readers can now kick off their shoes and fall in love with a man aged to perfection!

Barefoot at Midnight

Lawson Monroe is a chef without a restaurant...but his friend and mentor makes a deathbed promise to leave Law the only dive bar on Mimosa Key. Law has big plans for the place, until he walks directly into the luscious body and gorgeous face of Libby Chesterfield and her outrageous claim that the Toasted Pelican should come to her.

When Libby learned that the man who once owned the crappiest watering hole on the island was actually her biological father, she decided the least he owed her was his unclaimed business. The old man wasn't there for her when she and her brother were growing up near Barefoot Bay, but his legacy can help her build a new future when she transforms the property into Balance, a yoga studio. The only obstacle? Her father apparently named former bad boy and current sexy silver fox Lawless Monroe his heir.

Law never thought he'd want anything more than the chance to make a living cooking his food for the people of Barefoot Bay...but Libby arouses an irresistible hunger in him. Battling an attraction that sizzles hotter than one of Law's cast-iron skillets and uncovering long-buried secrets with more twists than one of Libby's yoga poses, they'll have find a way to both get what they want...especially if what they really want is each other.

LOVED this book. Ms. St. Clair's vision to write stories these stories, for those of us who have some life and years under our belts, I'm hooked. I'm completely in love with this series, and this one was my favorite. Law and Libby's story just rips your heart out and puts it back together. Both characters have well earned trust issues. Their honesty and hurt and struggles leap off the page and draw you in. Engaging, well written and paced. The characters have history so it's not insta-love. And the hint that there are another 3 silver foxes on deck....Sign. Me. Up.

I am loving these silver foxes from Mimosa Key. Lawson is my favorite, he has over come so much in his life, thinking now that he has the Toasted Pelican that was left to him by his best friend but soon finds out that the bar is going to his friend's daughter, Libby. The problem lays, is that his friend never knew he had children. Now to prove who really owns this bar. Their is an instant attraction between Libby and Lawless, can they fight it off while uncovering all of the secrets. Get ready to take an emotional ride in this story. Loved the character of Lawless, all of the obstacles that he has fought and over come in his life. Libby, who never had the loving family and so many secrets that come out of who is her real father. I highly recommend you read this addicting book! Can't wait for more silver foxes to come to Barefoot Bay.

This story you meet Lawson Monroe, who is a chef without a restaurant. Lawson, mentor had promise him that he was leaving him the Toasted Pelican that he owns on Mimosa Key to him. Since, he had no one else to leave it o.Libby Chesterfield, recently learned that the man who once owned the Toasted Pelican on the island was her biological father. Libby felted that since her father was never there for her and brother that she was the rightful owner of the unclaimed business, should come to her. So, let me give you a little background on these two people. Lawson and Libby both attended the same high school, and they both were attraction to each other in high school. But they never did anything about it. Fast forward year later they are at their class reunion, and soon they realize that they are still attracted to each other, plus they learned that they are both wanting to claim the same business. Roxanne St. Claire has written another winner. This is the third book of the Timeless trilogy. If you haven’t yet read the first two books, then they are a must. Except there are obstacle that they are going to have to figure how to deal with or can they work things out. This story has romance with many secrets that are entered twine throughout this story, and you are going to have read the book to find out how it will end.

This is the third book in Roxanne St. Claire's Barefoot Bay Timeless Series. The Timeless Series gives us three stories involving older, mature characters and second chances for love. Barefoot at Midnight is the story of Lawson Monroe and Libby Chesterfield, former high school classmates with a history who meet again at Mimosa Key High School reunion. Lawson earned his nickname Lawless because of his past problems with alcohol and the trouble it got him into. He owes his life to Jake Peterson, a man who took him in, treated him like a son, straightened him out and got him on the right path as a successful chef. Before Jake passed away, he told Law his pub, the Toasted Pelican, would be left to Law but Law needs to find the proof. He needs Jake's will but hasn't been able to find it. He only has a few days left before the court date that would award the property to an anonymous shell company owner. Libby has had several relationship problems in her past with two failed marriages resulting in her decision to never get into another one. Instead, she wants to start over as an independent woman and fulfill her dream of opening a yoga studio. Problem is, she plans to open her studio in the same place as Jake's pub. Unless Law can find that will. But if he does, will it be worth giving up the feelings he's beginning to have for Libby? This book has everything. Mature characters with undeniable chemistry, twists and turns that you don't see coming, moments of tears and emotion and a second chance for love. As much as I enjoyed the first two books of this series, I would definitely say that this is my favorite. It can be read without reading the first two, Barefoot at Sunset and Barefoot at Moonrise, but I would recommend reading them in order as some of the characters reappear in this book. These books provide the more mature reader a nice change from the all-to-common twenty and thirty-somethings. Nicely paired with a good glass of wine. 4.5 stars I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review

Libby and Law are perfect. What a convoluted road they had to happiness, and, the Twisted Pelican. A great final book to this edition of the Silver Foxes. I'm glad this Barefoot Bay Trio is just the beginning.

Recently Facebook was abuzz with the news that Luke Perry was on the cover of the latest AARP magazine. Obviously this showed up in my news feed, so it gives you an idea of how old I and my friends are, hint: over 40. We grew up watching Luke Perry and others on our screens. As they aged, so did we. In an interesting phenomenon, the heroes of romance novels have generally not aged; they are stuck in that NY perfect age of 20-something. Though some may make the 30-something category. Needless to say, when Roxanne St. Claire started writing what she called her Timeless heroes of Barefoot Bay, I was all in. Heroes and heroines my age? Sign me up. The latest installment in the Timeless series is Barefoot at Midnight. Bad boy Lawson “Lawless” Monroe finally catches the girl of his dreams, Liberty “Libby” Chesterfield. Not surprisingly, for those that read the first two books in the series, Libby has taken ownership of the Drunken Pelican, the bar Law found refuge in almost thirty years ago. Libby wants to turn it into a yoga studio; Law wants to make it an acclaimed gastropub. Though on the surface competing interests, when they start to work together they find common ground. While I adored the first two heroes in this series, Law is by far my favorite. His and Libby’s story captured me from the first book and watching them come together to achieve their own HEA was well worth the wait. I’m officially hooked on timeless. I hope more authors realize that readers aren’t all in their 20s and our book boyfriends shouldn’t be either. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Libby and Law reconnected at the all-class reunion several months previous and now are reconnecting again. Law has been trying to find out who owns the Toasted Pelican since Jake, the man who literally saved his life as a teenager and helped him sober up as an adult, told him on his deathbed the bar was his and there was a will (or at least that is what Law has thought for the past year while still searching for it). Finally fed up with the sub-par cooking of the chef at the Ritz and having to deal with him, Law quits in the middle of the shift and heads back over the causeway to Mimosa Key to the Pelican and finds himself at the bar and guess who is tending bar...Libby Chesterfield. Oh, what a tangled web they have weaved and what fun it was to watch them unravel it. These two circled each other and watching them fall was a pleasure. This is one of my favorite series and I am thrilled it is going to continue. I highly recommend each and every one of the Barefoot Bay books and the Timeless series is especially poignant.

I know I have said it before but I LOVE Barefoot Bay books and this series with the silver foxes is brilliant. I have already read the other 2 books in this timeless series and I have been waiting patiently for Lawson's book because you just know through the other 2 books that he will fight his Happy Ever After because he thinks he can not commit because of past experiences. The lady in this book is Libby and because men have always used her for her body she has decided to be celibate. So we have a man who just wants sex and no commitment and a woman who is sworn to celibacy - so let the fun and games begin. Law is a chef who is trying to find a will that his friend Jake has said he has left and on his deathbed he says that he wants Law to have the Toasted Pelican - a pub that Law spent lots of his youth and older years in with Jake. One problem he can not find the will and a skeleton company has moved into the pub saying they own it and Law can not find out who they are. I do not want to spoil the story but I will say this is an amazing story about people learning to give, learning to trust, forgiveness, hot silver foxes, strong women and there are a few twists and turns along the way, Roxanne keeps you guessing about certain things in this book right till the end and I loved that I was kept on my toes. Well done on this book - you gave Law and Libby a great story. I would recommend this to all romance lovers out there.

Wow! I wasn't expecting Lawson Monroe's story to be so emotional. When we met him in the other Barefoot Bay Timeless books, Law was always the laid back, here for a good time guy. I never expected there to be such an emotional man lurking behind that facade. Law had a rough childhood. Losing his mom young hadn't helped. Then when Law lost his brother, Beckett, his dad turned to drinking and took all his pain out on Law, causing Law to drink too much also. In order to escape his father, Law spent much of his time at the Toasted Pelican with a man named Jake, who owned the place. Jake became like a father to Law and eventually helped him get sober and even go to culinary school. Law owes Jake everything and he really is his best friend, even if he's almost twice Law's age. When Law is summoned to a hospital after Jake has had a stroke, he feels like his world is falling apart. Jake tries telling Law that he wants him to have the Toasted Pelican and that he needs to find the will! After cleaning out Jake's things, Law cannot find a will. He also finds out that someone else is running the Toasted Pelican but he cannot find out who the owner is. Imagine his surprise when he finds Libby Chesterfield working the at the bar. Law also had a crush on Libby and ruined his chances when they were in high school. Now in their 40's he is attracted to her even more! As Law and Libby spend more time together, Law realizes that Libby is the hidden party that is claiming ownership to the Toasted Pelican. After the two of them lay all of their cards on the table, they both decide to try and find out the real story behind who owns the bar. I really loved the time Law and Libby spent together. They both had some demons from their past that was hurting their future. Their chemistry was great. I really liked how their sexy times together was so authentic for people in their 40's! I also really enjoyed the suspenseful part of finding out the real answers they both were looking for. What a great surprising twist! Never saw that one coming! Overall, I really enjoyed both of these characters and their story. I just LOVED Libby's daughter, Jasmine. She was a hoot! Their final happy ending was great for the two of them too! I'm so glad we will be getting three more books from these Silver Foxes! Love it!

Law had a turbulent childhood. A good man took him in and helped him. Now that good man is dead, he promised his bar to Law except Law can't find the will. He has been trying for almost a year to find out who is running the place. Libby has been running the place, but she doesn't want Law to find out. She and her brother will take it over at the end of the year and she will make it into a yoga retreat. Law is going to make it into a gastropub. Neither one of them really have a legal claim, yet. Law wanted to date Libby when they were in high school, but he didn't stay sober long enough. Libby has always been attracted to Law, but she has sworn off men because she has already been through two bad marriages and doesn't need anymore drama. She had enough of that from her mother. She wants stability. Law has never been stable. So why is she so attracted to him?

Great stories just seem to keep coming in this series and this was one of my favorites. I love Law's quick wit and charm. The fact that he's a little flawed and courageous enough to be open and honest was refreshing. No excuses from him just facts made him feel real and true. Libby was a bit tougher for me to warm up to but after learning her story I couldn't help but love her too. I adore these stories with the silver foxes and the fact that no matter what your age love can always find you gives hope to everyone. I think you'll adore Law and Libby as much as I do. I highly recommend this one and I'm so happy to know we will be getting more of these stories next year.

Libby was lied and cheated almost all her life - by her mother, abour her biological father and by both the men she married - and now she's got issues with trusting someone. Law never felt loved and worthy since a sad and dramatic event happened in his childhood and he's going through life without getting attached to anyone or anything. Except for Jake and his bar, The Toasted Pelican. Now, both Law and Libby want this little bar. And each other. This is a sweet and endearing story of love and trust and it was a pleasure to read it. Of course, each Barefoot title, by Roxanne St. Claire, is a treasure and a world full of promises and a well-spent time.

Mimosa Key may be small in size and population, but never lacks in personality. In Barefoot Bay the beauty of the location is overshadowed only my the overpowering since of community. Arms are open wide in welcome and caring is in abundance. In a world full of angry words and unnecessary violence Ms. St. Claire uses her imagination to create a beacon of hope, the ideal Utopia. Barefoot at Midnight is a story of sacrifice. Law and Libby are dreamers that have had their hearts battered by life. Can one deathbed promise and a piece of property make their dreams into the start of something wonderful? Roxanne St. Claire must be doing something right. Barefoot Bay is the perfect destination for finding the heart's desire. A dream come true.
