Really enjoyed this book. Loved Lexi and Austin together and that they get a HEA. Can't wait to read the next book in the series, to find out about each of their friends, recommend this author and this series. Mjw

I was hooked from first couple pages. I've read her romantic suspense series and loved those. Since my daughter lives in CO the setting is familiar. Enjoyed the storyline progression, colorful characters, and the romance ends well.

Really! This isn't just a story about relationships, there are many interesting facts about an actual forest rangers job. Which made for a more believable story. It made me want to live in a small town where everybody knows your name. Yes, there were typos, but nothing you can't figure out what was supposed to be written. I heartly recommend you take the time to read the story of Lexi and Austin and just enjoy!

This could almost start once upon a time, because they were first loves before they weren't. When they again meet 12 years later the attraction and deep feelings are still there. Can the hurt be forgiven and love refreshed? I loved this book begining a new series of small town romances set in the mountains of Colorado. I really want to visit and find myself a guy at the climbing gym or local dinner pub and go skiing or climbing or hiking once more in the mountains.

Second Chances When Lexi comes home to help her and step mom figure out their problems she runs into her first love Taylor. The one person she didn't want to run into. Boy do things what up.

Good short read. About 300 pages. Easy to follow, a few to many supporting characters for my liking, but it wont stop u from understanding the plot

Needed a good copy editor. Missing words from sentences, misplaced punctuation, word usage errors all detracted from a good reading experience. I probably glossed over numerous errors but know I easily spotted five or six that were really obvious I cannot see a decent copy editor or even a decent spellcheck program did not flag them.

I love all of Pamela Clare's books, though I honestly didn't intend to be up until 2:30am finishing this one! I went to bed at the start of Ch 17, and I simply could not put the book down after I hit 19 or so... Things simply exploded, then fell down a Mineshaft, and I was loving every second of it. Some people, in other reviews, have complained about the "technical" aspect of how all of the Climbing and rescue services were described, but I found no issue with this. While I didn't understand all of it right off, once I did, I felt it gave me a better picture of what was going on. I enjoyed the ride so much, that I can't wait for the next book to come out—Which I believe it Hawke and Vic's book. :D

5 - "We care about our own in this town." Stars! Barely Breathing was a book of firsts for me in that it’s the start of a new series, and it was also the first book I have read by Pamela Clare. Hugely impressed are the first words that come to mind. I have seen a lot of positive feedback for this author over the years, so it was nice to read what all the fuss has been about, and I was not disappointed. Lexi Jewell and Austin Taylor are your perfect couple for a second-chance romance. As teens, they were inseparable, but college came a-calling and one left town with a view of permanence to pursue a future in the city, while the other came home and lived the life they had envisaged them both sharing. Harsh words were spoken, and young hearts were broken. But it’s pretty clear from their first meeting that that old burn of attraction is still glowing strong between them. But Lexi is only planning on being in town for a couple of months, and although Austin wants her to stay, he will take whatever he can get while she’s in town, and work on trying to keep her around for as long as possible. "Let’s just enjoy each others company-no expectations, no strings." There is a lot going on in this book, new town, new characters and a lot of back stories and past to be interspersed within the relationship rebuilding between the main pair and I think the author did really well, nothing was confusing and everyone was bought in at a pace that you remembered who they were and what their place in the story was as it progressed. "You give head with that dirty mouth?" The banter between the Search & Rescue guys was absolutely spot on, and I just loved the locale and descriptions that the author gave, it was easy to picture and I really did travel to Scarlet Springs, Colorado in my head for the time I was reading. The sexy-times between Autin and Lexi were imaginative, plentiful and at times funny and the suspense aspect played out really well too, it was just really good all-round reading for me. As I said this book was a first for me, it definitely won’t be my last. I will be waiting (im) patiently for Pamela to deliver up more books from the Colorado High Country Series, and looking to familiarize myself with some of her already published work as well. ARC generously provided via Netgalley, and it was a pleasure to provide the above honest review.

Pamela Clare has once again shown us how talented she is with the first book in her new series. I look forward to visiting Scarlet Springs again.

I have read all of Pamela's books so far and I am always amazed. This is no exception. I definitely had reservations about a straight contemporary romance as every other one I've read fails to do anything for me. This was an amazing read. I devoured the whole thing in one night and will be going back to savour it properly. The characters are wonderfully developed and complex and the storyline is impeccable. I am already waiting for the second book and I read this on release day. I am so excited for Pamela's new series. Definitely worth the read!!

Wonderful fast moving contemporary romance! I have read Pamela Clare's I-Team Series which I LOVE but that series is not a contemporary romance. So I wasn't sure what to expect with this new genre. What a pleasant surprise! The characters are well developed , the interactions between characters believable. There are places where I laughed right out loud and other places I was grabbing a tissue... And spots I couldn't turn the page fast enough!!! If you want a nice romantic story with some laughs and a bit of excitement this would be for you! I personally look forward to the next in the series!
