Barrett Fuller's Secret

Barrett Fuller’s privileged life is about to change radically … or else.

Barrett Fuller is a world-famous and very wealthy children’s author who writes under a pseudonym because he’s a self-absorbed womanizer and drug-user. His life changes when he receives an extortion letter, challenging him to live up to the morals he currently espouses in his books. He is presented with a series of tasks to complete or face having his identity revealed to the public, resulting in the ruin of his financial empire.

Richard Fuller, Barrett’s nephew, has a secret too, and it’s one no kid should bear. He knows why his father left the family and he’s never told his mother.

When the extortionist challenges Barrett to spend time with his nephew, their respective secrets move towards a collision that will change their lives forever.

Table of Contents

OPPORTUNITY #1: SACRIFICE. You will donate the equivalent you have invested in Blast to the Child Labour Project and the local Big Brothers centre equally, tomorrow, from your yacht, dressed as Sindu the starfish from Mil Bennett’s imaginary world or I will release all my information to the press. You will also invite children from youth centres around the city to your yacht, where you will announce that you are donating the yacht for sale with the proceeds to be divided evenly amongst youth centres across the city.

OPPORTUNITY #2: NOTHING IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN FAMILY You have a sister raising a child on her own and you do nothing to help her. This is a pathetic reality for someone that makes millions writing allegories about family values. You have one day to spend some time with her kid, record some of your activities and download the proof or the world will see just what a con artist their precious Russell Niles is and your career will be over.

OPPORTUNITY #3: ACTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES The female you had sex with in her car the other day is a seventeen-year-old, grade eleven student. You have twenty-four hours to donate three million dollars in scholarships to the Empowering Young Women scholarship fund for disadvantaged teens and copy the Once Upon a Hypocrite site as proof, or she will go public about your intimacy, the police will visit your home, and every parent that buys your books will know you had sex with a teenager.

OPPORTUNITY #4: TREAT ALL WOMEN AS PRECIOUS AS YOUR MOTHER The way you treat women is an embarrassment to real gentlemen. You will attend a sensitivity training workshop at 500 Palson Street tonight at eight this evening and download proof of your attendance or the public will know how their beloved Russell Niles really feels about women.

OPPORTUNITY #5: HONESTY You have twenty-four hours to record yourself admitting to your publisher that you’ve been having an affair with his wife and then upload your admission to me or I will expose you to the world.

OPPORTUNITY #6: LOVE YOURSELF I see that you have a new woman in your life. One that lasted more than a night. Admit to her who you really are or she'll find out with the rest of the public. You have twenty-four hours to upload your taped confession.
