Bedmates is book one in the American Royalty series. I wasn't really sure what to expect when I started this novel but was pleasantly surprised to find a vegetarian leading lady that is passionate about animal rights with a yummy veteran as her love interest. We start off meeting Maddie McGuire, the President's daughter when she attempts to break into a facility to free animals that had been tested on. Of course, she's caught and winds up having to do volunteer work building houses for homeless veterans with Jake Simmons. Jake is the Vice President's son and a veteran that was wounded in Afghanistan. While they weren't exactly at odds in the beginning, they do quickly become closer and wind up falling into a relationship. This couple makes sense to me since both understands the hardships of being in the public eye all the time and there was some nice chemistry between the two. This wasn't exactly an easy going book on either of them though like I initially thought it would be, some personal demons arise and jeopardize their relationship along the way. Bedmates shows some strong factors that I'm really glad were included in the story. Jake is still mentally trying to recover from the war and it's taking a toll on him. Maddie is trying her best to be supportive and not pry into the matter but just wants him to find someone he can trust to work through it. The character's depth and details that were included were a really nice touch and made the story work for me. All in all, if you enjoy Contemporary Romance with veterans, or politics involved I think you'd love this book!

★★★½ Bedmates was a surprise in a good way. I listened to the audiobook as a way to pass time, not really excited about the synopsis, almost letting the title expire back to the library catalog...but there were some pretty complex themes incorporated that made me very glad I gave it a go. I have unintentionally read an overflowing handful of books lately about veterans and the aftermath of their combat experiences and Bedmates is another. I always applaud authors for showing the nightmare that some of these men and women face. Perspective and appreciation is a good thing. Lots of angst and romance, a bit of role reversal since we have a "bad girl" instead of the typical "bad boy", and lovely softening emotions. Check it out! My favorite quote: "Don't give up on being happy because of what might go wrong, because a lot could go right."

He's older and the VPs son. She's the President's daughter and in trouble. He's home from the Marines injured and hiding the worst of his wounds. She's getting caught breaking into labs to release animals used in experiments. Though they have been around each other for years, it's time for them to really work together. And I do mean work together. What a great story. I loved the characters so much. Jake is a wounded soul that I fell for immediately. His guilt ate at me. I just wanted to hug him and thank him for all that he'd done for our country. Then there was Maddy. She's strong and outspoken. A President's daughter that's not quite good enough for the VP's son - or so his mother thinks. Yeah, I wanted to slap that women. And the security detail? Tony is awesome. Mona made me laugh. And when characters get to my emotions like this, they are just done right. I really enjoyed their story. It was rich with politics, emotions and a life I've never seen. And though I could see where this relationship was headed, I cheered and had hope for them. One part had me crying. I have a strong love for the veterans who have fought to serve our country. To see their pain always gets to me. I'm glad for this one story but I'm sure there are so many that don't end as happily. Well written, with rich, full characters, this book will have you laughing, swooning and throughly entertained.

This is my first book of Nichole’s and I am so glad I picked it up. Maddie is the daughter of the President of the United States. She had an image to maintain so she can uphold the image that her father needs to represent. She is a passionate person and that passion makes me automatically Team Maddie I’ll admit. I know there is a limit to how much she can act out before it gets bad but I love how her father was like ‘use my name and make strides in the legal way.’ It shows he is a father first before the leader of the free world and in my option that is the way it should be. Jake is back from Afghanistan and I’ll admit I was nervous about how he would interact with Maddie but they funnily enough have this great chemistry and banter. I love them because they try and fight the attraction that thye have to each other but it simply doesn’t work because they’re magnets. They pull each other back to earth and keep the other person centred. This story is sexy, sultry, addictive and I am so glad I read it. I couldn’t put it down until sleep won. It is a story of love, politics and fighting for your beliefs. I implore you all to read it because you will not regret it at all. 5 stars!

When you're father is the president of the United States, people expect you to behave a certain way. Like, maybe not breaking into a lab to free test animals. Or spending all your free time helping at an animal shelter. Or walking around building sites in jeans, sassy tee-shirts, and mud. But Madeleine McGuire isn't the typical First Daughter. She knows how to play the political game, and does it grudgingly, all while being her off-beat, big-hearted self. Jake Simmon knows how to play the game, too. When your mother is the current VP, with sights set on becoming the next president, you have to walk the walk. As a wounded warrior, Jake is happy to give back to other veterans, but what he wasn't counting on was Maddie. Frenemies for as long as they can remember, Jake and Maddie have an edgy sort of relationship. Except, suddenly Jake is looking at Maddie with new eyes, and Maddie is seeing him in a different way, too, and, well, chemistry. BEDMATES by author Nichole Chase is a sweet, heartwarming, and, yes, sexy read. Although I tend to steer clear of the NA trope these days, there is something refreshing about this one. Maddie is a bit of a wild child, having inherited her free spirit from her mom. Although she tries to toe the line, well, life happens. When Maddie and Jake are forced to work together to promote a housing program for veterans, they have to make nice for the cameras, and, soon enough, find that they're interested in spending more than just air time together. Nichole has managed to capture the tenor of a life lived in the public eye, and what it must be like to always have to be 'on.' At the same time, she's written Jake, Maddie, their famous families, and the people that make Washington, D.C., what it is, in a way that makes them more likable and approachable. I really enjoyed that the storyline involves current events, things that will resonate with many different types of people. The animal rights issues, the wounded warrior issues, the political games, all add up to make a book that I liked very much. I would happily recommend BEDMATES, and rate it 4 stars' worth of love, laughter, and steaminess, with the added bonus of political celebrity thrown into the mix. Definitely a nice addition to your TBR.

Ahhh! This book is all of the things I love: strong characters, unique storylines, politics, romance and an unexpected, tear-jerking, angst that moved me as a reader! Maddie is the best kind of charmer. She lights up a room without ever working an angle. She's strong, smart, compassionate, principled and hard-working. She also happens to be the President's Daughter. Jake is a charmer in different ways. He's handsome, confident, loyal, well-spoken, passionate and a war veteran. Oh yeah and he's the Vice President's Son. They're so different from one another, but so similar at the same time. And they will both need all of their best qualities create a relationship that lasts past this election cycle. I'm a HUGE fan of Nichole Chase's Royals Series, starting with Suddenly Royal. I've been anxiously awaiting Bedmates, and this first book of the American Royalty series did NOT disappoint! For fans of the Suddenly Royal series, Alex and Samantha not only make an appearance in this story, but play a critical role. This is more than a cameo appearance and their scenes move the storyline forward in a way that feels so familiar and wonderful to fans of that series. This is a MUST READ new series that I will be recommending over and over in the coming weeks/months. Add it to your TBR today! And, join me in anxiously awaiting the next book in this great new series. An advance copy was received in exchange for an honest review. BFF Book Blog also uses a set of icon ratings. This book received additional ratings for: angst, butterflies, character development, hero, heroine, romance, tears and happily ever after.

4/5 Stars!! I was super excited to read Bedmates! I mean, really? American royalty, the president's daughter + the VPs son who is also a wounded vet. Bingo! Count me in! I really enjoyed Bedmates. Maddie and Jake had this history together, she secretly crushed on him and he pushed her away at every turn. Except, Jake really had a thing for Maddie but she was "off-limits" per his mother. He went away to serve his country and came back wounded in more ways then one. When Maddie and Jake are thrown together on a volunteer project, those sparks that have been held back for years are finally set free. But, of course, it can't be that easy. They have opposing forces around every corner. This was well-written for the most part, but some parts were a little unnecessary to the overall story. The book had a nice emotional component and a great plot and overall I really enjoyed it. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

WOW! . . . . a captivating and alluring must read! American royalty + wounded vet = steamy and sexy love story! Bedmates hit the mark in all the right places. Intrigue, passion, turmoil...the unfathomable emotions just flow from the pages! The chemistry between Maddie and Jake was perfect! Their shared history with each other made for an entertaining read, along with their banter and sarcasm. They both have something to prove in their own way. Maddie doesn't want to be known as just the President's daughter, and Jake is striving to be not just another wounded warrior. But when real life, and truth and consequences take center stage, can they each move past their mistakes and find a new life together? This book isn't all roses and delves into the deep emotions, the mind, and the heartache of being in the public eye. And it's not just Maddie and Jake who battle with holding in the chaos of a life that will never be the same. This story was wonderfully written and takes on a lot of dark issues that can be controversial to write. But there's always light at the end of a dark tunnel. . . Bedmates is an undeniable MUST READ! 5 Powerful Stars!

This is actually my first Nichole Chase book and it certainly won’t be my last. I’ve always liked stories about Royalty children so when I read this blurb, I knew I had to get my hands on it. Maddie McGuire is currently the First Daughter. With her father as President of The United States, a lot of responsibility is on her shoulders. She’s just like her mother, full of passion and goes at things head strong. Unfortunately, that trait actually causes her to end up in handcuffs. Of course, not the publicity needed or expected from the First Daughter. In an attempt to honor the consequences of her actions and help rebuild from her embarrassing act, Maddie is asked to do community service with RCVA, Returning Combat Veterans Affairs. While she’s all too happy to help Veterans, she’s not happy to learn who her new sidekick will be. They don’t have the best history. Jake Simmons, the son of the Vice President of The United States, has returned from his latest tour in Afghanistan. He is recovering from a bodily injury but secretly battling the mental demons left behind from war. When he finds he is paired with Maddie, he isn’t exactly thrilled. They’ve never really gotten along. But now that he’s back and has a different look on life, Jake is starting to realize that the girl he thought Maddie was is the complete opposite of who she actually is. She quickly gets under his skin and his attraction grows. Will he be able to push that aside and just focus on the community service at hand or will Maddie grab on to his heart and change his world? “Politics makes for interesting bedmates.” Well, that’s the truth. I enjoyed this book. I enjoyed Maddie’s spirit and her desire to be her own person and not to be shaped by what is expected by her. She is genuine and honest. Loving and caring and it makes sense that she is considered American’s Sweetheart in the media. She also has a great sense of humor and definitely keeps Jake on his toes. My heart bled for Jake. The pain and guilt that he has been caring around since his last tour in Afghanistan has really taken a toll on him. While he continues to struggle with it, you can tell that he wants help but he just doesn’t know how to go about it. When he gets the devastating news that pushes him over the edge, the vulnerability, pain and sorrow that he feels is heartbreaking. I think there will be many people that can relate to his story and understand what he is dealing with. Overall, I really enjoyed this book. I liked the community service ideas and the passion that they have for other causes. There’s just enough drama in there to keep the storyline going. I’m glad I read this and I can’t wait to check out more of Nichole Chase’s books!

Maddie was the kind of woman you kept forever. And I wasn’t looking for that type of relationship. Right now, all I could focus on was today. Forever wasn’t in my vocabulary. Especially with someone my mother had outlawed. ** With the nearing elections, this book is bound to get you excited about voting for the next President of the United States. Nah. I'm just kidding. But it should get you excited to read another toe curling-sexy as all get out-book by Chase. I could say that this book was all romance 24/7. But I would be lying. Sure it is full of it in the first half, but then comes the gritty. The gritty that tells you life isn’t always sunshine and happiness. There is sometimes ugliness and pain. And Chase did a fantastic job not sugarcoating a very heavy topic that needs to be out there for the world to see and not covered with a band aid. Many times in the second half I shed a few tears. Some scenes were rough to read. But like I said, Chase did an amazing job. I really felt she shed a light on a topic many people, I fear, think is better once a solider returns home. There is brokenness and hurt buried deep in these men and women, and I for one hope they are getting the help they so desperately need, without feeling like a burden to their families. So kudos, Chase for taking up the torch and shining light in such a dark area. I don’t think you could have done a better job giving us readers a fictional story but at the same time opening eyes to many who never knew this hurt existed. And yeah, there was romance. MERCY!! Was there ever some romance?! I had to fan myself a few times during a few scenes. But with the chemistry that built between these two amazing characters it’s easy to see why the romance was so hot! I absolutely adored these 2 characters. I fell so hard for Jake and know that most readers will. He is so stinkin’ delectable. I couldn’t get enough of him. Maddie was such a great character as well. Strong willed and confident, more than she gave herself credit for, it was easy to fall into this read and hard not to love who the author created. Such a fabulous book, that it was definitely worth the wait for another great read from Chase. Perfectly done…this book delivers!! 5 Stars!!

This is my first Nichole Chase book and I gotta say I really enjoyed her writing and I’m actually now thinking about going back to read her other works because I’m sure they’re just as good as Bedmates. In Bedmates we meet the first daughter, she is called Maddie and she is fierce, spunky with big dreams of changing the world and making things right for the right people, it was so refreshing to see a strong female character. Along side Maddie we meet Jake, he is the son of the Vice President and he just got back from the war with a severed leg and unfortunately with memories that won’t let him feel completely normal. They are both admirable characters, they both have a good heart and they make the perfect couple, It seems like they bring out the best in one another and I think that’s what a good relationship is all about. Nichole’s writing was perfect in this book, she made me care for the characters and for the outcome at the end. She also made me hate one or two characters as well which for me is always good because that is how I know that I’m reading a good book.

When I picked up this book, I honestly didn’t know what to expect. I’ve never read anything by this author before, but I have heard so many great things about this particular book, that I just knew I had to pick it up. And let me tell you, I am so glad I did. Bedmates was so refreshing and took me by surprise. From the moment I picked up this book, I feel in love. Maddie is the girl that is easy to relate to. Although she’s the president’s daughter, she isn’t afraid to stand up for what she believes in. She makes mistakes like everyone else and just because she’s the president’s daughter, that doesn’t make her exempt from consequences….And Jake…Well, there’s more to Jake than meets the eye. His time in the military has left some pretty deep scars. He always strives to do the right thing, even if he doesn’t agree with it. Maddie and Jake may seem like an unlikely pair, but these two are better matched than anyone ever expected. Overall, I found this book to be a very enjoyable read. I love enemies to lovers romances and I have to tell you, this one does not disappoint. Jake and Maddie’s story is filled with angst, sweet romance and just the right amount of steam. This book was so much more than I was expecting. This is my first book by this author and I have to say, she has definitely made a fan out of me. I look forward to continuing on with this series and seeing where it will go next.
