Beneath the Surface (2018) by Lynn H. Blackburn is the first book in her Dive Team Investigations series. Beneath the Surface released this past March 6th, and can be purchased wherever books are sold. This book comes in all forms including eBook, and is 352 pages in length. With a full-time job and a precocious five-year old at home, this story took me two days to read. I received a review copy of this novel in paperback form from Revell Books. In no way has this influenced my review. The opinions expressed in this review are my own. I give Beneath the Surface 5 STARS. This story is a Christian Romantic Suspense. Whoa! Whoa! WHOA! Beneath the Surface is an edge-of-your-seat, nail-biting page turner. I was hooked from page one, and genuinely could not figure this story out. The writing is flawless, the suspense is INTENSE, and the cast of characters is great. The Investigative Team that we meet in Book 1 — Ryan, Gabe, Anissa, Adam, and Sabrina — is so diverse and unique. This is the book you read late into the night saying, “Just one more chapter. I can do just one more chapter!” Before you know it, it’s midnight and you realize your alarm is going to go off in a few hours. I definitely lost track of time reading this one. The characters in this story have a true relationship with God that is showcased throughout the entire book. It’s illustrative of the honest relationship we all should have with God. God is in this book all over the place: in Ryan’s cop car as he is driving to a crime scene, in the Emergency Department room when Leigh is working on a patient, around the dinner table as Ryan, Leigh, Gabe, Anissa, Adam, and Sabrina break from their work to eat a quick meal, and in the dark, scary moments when things don’t look so good for some of the characters. What I like so much is the example these fictional characters set for the reader. It’s subtle, but honest. The characters each relate to God in different ways, and have their own unique ways of praying, but they all relate to God as He wishes us to — as if He is physically standing next to us waiting to hear our prayers and thoughts. When Adam is frustrated, he yells at God out of frustration. When Leigh is scared, she prays desperate prayers. When Anissa prays before meals, her prayers are strong, sure, and confident as she speaks to her Lord. And, when the characters are confused and need answers, they go to God trusting He will give them the answers they are looking for in His time. At one point, Ryan is scared and frustrated and he starts to doubt, but he stops himself immediately and say, “NO! God’s got this.” And, then he confidently goes back to work. These excellent examples of relating to God throughout this book is my favorite part of this story. Such a great reminder to me to always be relational to God. God doesn’t want robots. He wants us in each and every moment — the sad ones, the frustrated ones, the happy ones, the boring ones! Lynn H. Blackburn is TALENTED! I have a MA in Literature. I can pretty much figure out a story 1/4 to 1/2 way into it. If it’s a TV show, I have those figured out by the first commercial break. It actually drives my husband crazy. I don’t say this to brag, I say this to express just how impressive Lynn’s writing skills are. There are so many twists and turns and trails in this narrative! I kept telling my husband, “I think I know who did it”…and then I was totally wrong. I was wrong the whole time!!! It was AWESOME.

If you enjoy inspirational romantic suspense, you will love this book. From a stalker to someone targeting her, oncology nurse practitioner Leigh Weston has to trust Ryan Parker to keep her safe. But when her attacker finds her at work in the emergency room, where can she go to be safe? Who wants her dead? From the first page, you won't be able to put this one down. Leigh knows God is in control, but Ryan is finding it hard to leave it up to Him. Ryan is investigating a John Doe's body that had been found in the lake. Then Leigh is attacked. Who is behind these attacks and why do they want her dead? I enjoyed watching Ryan grow in his faith and Leigh being strong in hers. For a suspenseful inspirational romance, Beneath the Surface is a must read. I received a free copy in the hope that I would mention/review it on my blog. I was not required to give a positive review, only my honest opinion - which I've done. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own and I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

This is the first book that I've read by this author and it's a great romantic suspense. The romance overshadowed the suspense at times and I was disappointed with how little of a part the killer had in the story. But, the book is a great clean read. There is also a good bit of faith content for those who look for that in a book. But believing God truly loved her, truly had her best interest at heart even when it didn't look like it? She didn't know if she could muster that kind of faith. The best she could do was whisper a humble "Help me." Somehow she knew that would be enough for now. That he heard her. That he wasn't waiting for her with a long list of grievances. That he was running toward her, longing to hold her close if she'd let him. The characters are what I really loved about this book. I really bonded with them even though Leigh seemed a bit juvenile to me. I liked that Leigh and Ryan had a history so that their attraction didn't feel like insta-love. There was a solid background to draw on for their mutual attraction. And I honestly loved them. I love the entire team. This is the first book that I've read by this author and I was impressed. While the romance got in the way of suspense at times...there were still some really intense moments. I chose to read this book at bedtime and kind of scared myself. I was a bit thirsty but too freaked out to go get myself some water. Either I'm a big scaredy cat or this book had some really great suspense. Overall, I liked this book and I will definitely pick up the rest of the series. In fact, I'll probably check out her other books as well. This book was provided to me by Revell Reads. I was not required to write a positive review, and have not been compensated for this. All opinions are my own.

Series debuts with... Beneath the Surface Dive Team Investigations #1 By Lynn H. Blackburn When a training exercise uncovers a murder victim in the lake behind her house Leigh Weston's life is about to take on a dangerous twist. Having returned to her childhood home after dealing with a patient turned stalker, Leigh had hoped for a return to normal. A weekend training exercise in Lake Porter was about as relaxing as Ryan Parker could hope for while being on-call for the weekend. As part of the Carrington County Sheriff's Office dive team, he found this a relaxing way to work. But when the exercise turns into a homicide investigation his weekend and that of the dive team just went jumped to intense and frustrating. The unknown victim has had his identification quite effectively stripped from his person. And due to the location of her home and dock Leigh is asked if the department can make use of it for the duration of their investigation. With Ryan being her brother's best friend and her secret girlhood crush Leigh agrees. All too soon Ryan finds himself dealing with two cases - the unidentified murder victim and the attempted murder of Leigh Weston. Could Leigh's stalker be back? Or is it just a strange coincidence? All too soon it becomes apparent that Leigh is indeed in someone's sights - the question is whose. As the murder investigation takes an unexpected turn, the danger Leigh faces grows. Will they be able to determine who is after Leigh in time to save her life? Or will she too become a victim with unanswered questions left at her death? For those who enjoy books with a steadily growing level of suspense that branches off into different directions give this series debut a consideration. Fans of Lynette Eason, Patricia Bradley, or Terri Blackstone will want to try out Lynn Blackburn's work as she writes in a style that will appeal to these readers. The reader is effectively kept in the dark as to who, where, and why as the story progresses so one's attention is completely engaged throughout. And for those who like a dose of romance mixed in with their suspense - well you will be thrilled to know Beneath the Surface has that as well. A word of warning the murder is rather gruesome and does not make me want to join this investigative team - if I saw it I would probably be very sick and having nightmares for a very long time (Just saying). P.S. the excerpt from the next book in the series promises to be just as intriguing so don't skip it! I was provided a complimentary review copy of this book by the publisher with no expectations of a positive review - all opinions expressed are my own.

I picked up this novel because of the title "Dive Team Investigations Series". I thought that was a great idea for a story. I've been fascinated by forensics and recall reading a magazine that showed pictures of the effects of a body submerged for a day, a week, and a month and how they apply that when solving cases. So I had high hopes for this novel. For a reader that isn't too wild about romance, I seemed to be reading a lot of them lately. This book is no exception. So let's start with the negative... The romance got in the way of the story, in my opinion. It's not that I mind the start of character relationships, but I was under the impression this was going to be a murder mystery. Though there were moments of danger, those seemed to be overshadowed by does he like me or not story. Even some minor characters had the hints of a starting relationship. I felt like my kids whenever they watch a movie with a lot of talking. I just want to skip the dialogue and get to the good stuff! I know, I'm a baby. But I felt like the characters were just repeating the same thing over and over again. Yes, one of them is in danger. Yes, the other has sworn to protect. We get it! It was too much character and not enough investigating for my tastes. Now on to the positive... The parts where there was danger? Excellent! Exciting! Brake line cut, poisoning, kidnapping and more! This has all the makings of a great suspense thriller novel. And the part where the dive team finds the body was really what I was expecting. I wanted more of that. The investigating portions were good, though there seemed to be more theories than actual facts thrown around by the characters. This book is part of a series, so I hope the author focuses more on investigating, like an episode of CSI or something. There's great potential here for an exciting series. And yes, even in CSI, I desperately want to skip the character drama. Readers that enjoy suspense will like this book, but perhaps as long as they know going in that it's more about the characters, they'll be happy. Romance readers will love this book because that seems to be the main focus. Damsel in distress who ends up being more than capable of getting out of a tight situation without any assistance. For healthcare workers, they might like the fact that the main character is an Oncology nurse practitioner. All in all, this is a nice read while on vacation or relaxing on the beach.  I received a complimentary copy in exchange for my honest opinion.

I was in like Flynn in the first chapter of this book. There were so many hooks that all just worked together. Leigh draws you into her heart from the very beginning. Having recently moved back to her childhood home after the passing of both her parents she leaves behind the memory of a stalker and changes her career specialty. She finds herself in contact with her older brother’s best friend, who she may or may not still carry the embers of her teenage crush, and a body found in the lake behind her home. By chapter two, her brakes are cut and the hunt is on. More bodies pile up and more people around Leigh, as well as herself, are hurt. The bigger issue is whether they are all tied together. And if so why? This book was overall very fast paced but not breakneck. I might have stayed up entirely too late because I needed to know the answers. I needed to know if the crimes were related and why and how and and and. . . I needed to know. I needed to know if Ryan ever got over his fear of disappointing his best friend by being in love (since high school!) with the off-limits baby sister. There were a few things I found a little unbelievable such as the spare no expense to protect Leigh and the everyone hold team meetings at a victims house while including the victim. I’m not law enforcement but somehow I feel like that’s taking a stretch for the sake of the story. There was some lull in the middle but never too much to make me lose interest. I’ve never read Lynn H. Blackburn before but I’m on board for just about anything she can put out. Enticing story lines with believable characters made this book for me. Leigh felt a little juvenile at times for me with wanting things her way but then if I stop to think how I’d react in her same situation I’d be dead already. So there’s that. Well, to be fair a lot of the team felt juvenile a time or two. Ryan with his concern over how his bestie would react. His bestie, Leigh’s brother, and his over-protectiveness of his grown 30 year old sister. That didn’t detract for me though. And a bonus for keeping me guessing throughout the ENTIRE BOOK for the bad guy. I had some inklings here and there and even the actual person was on my radar for a bit but I didn’t solve the case until they solved the case. Always a win for me. I was provided a complimentary copy of this book by Revell. I was not compensated for this review and all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own. I was not required to write a positive review.

Romantic suspense just as I like it. This one was a page turner in so many ways. Who was the killer? What did Leigh Weston have to do with it? Who was John Doe? Would Ryan just kiss her already? Yes, the romance kept me turning pages as well. I really enjoyed the way that it continued to simmer throughout the suspense. This is my first book from this author and it will not be my last. Full review is at my website. I received this book complimentary as a participant of the Revell Blog Tour. I was not required to give a positive review. All of the opinions I have expressed here are my own.

Beneath the Surface is book one in Dive Team Investigations series by Lynn H. Blackburn. This romantic suspense is an amazingly entertaining novel. The plot is extremely well crafted with non-stop action and thrills that keep the reader engaged. The opening scene immediately pulls the reader in with a shocking find during a dive team training session led by homicide investigator, Ryan Parker. They discover a body in the lake near the home of nurse practitioner, Leigh Weston, and the plot escalates fast to an attempt on her life and a search for a serial killer. Leigh had moved back to her home in North Carolina to escape memories of her frightening experience with a stalker—an obsessed patient. Now she is drawn into Ryan’s investigation of the horrific crime due to its proximity to her home. Ryan and his team must connect all of the clues to an apparent serial killer to protect the woman that he has secretly loved for years—his best friend’s sister. This is truly a wonderfully satisfying romantic suspense story not to be missed. Book two in this series, In Too Deep, follows this riveting book. The author has also written Hidden Legacy and Covert Justice. I received a copy of this book and requested only to write an honest review.

Wow. When I finished this story my mouth was wide open. My heart was pounding. I had just been on a journey that was filled with twists, turns and so much suspense. I thought I had it figured out, then another wrench thrown into the mix. I absolutely cannot wait until the next book to come out. I received a copy of this book through the author - all thoughts are my own.

The author places Leigh Weston on your heart from the very beginning of this story, and soon we are caring about several other people, they seem to have a heart for the Lord, but also for their fellow men. Can you imagine being stalked by a patient, but she worked as an oncology nurse, and guy has died, so now who wants her dead? Your mind is going to change constantly from whom you think is the perpetrator of evil, and once you finally decide, you will be changing your mind. A page turner as we need answers, an old high school crush, a brother who wants to protect his sister forever, even from across the ocean, cute! Once you begin this book, you will be hooked and wanting answers, there is a deranged evil person out there and the law does not want them to win any longer. I received this book through the Revel Blogger Program, and was not required to give positive review.

The first half of this book introduced the setting and main characters very effectively. We learned a lot about the past and current situation of the female lead, Leigh Weston, and the male lead, Ryan Parker. There is a lot of action involving these two characters. Leigh Weston is a nurse practitioner at the local hospital and Ryan Parker is an investigator with the county Sheriff's department. Ryan has been Leigh's older brother's best friend for many years. The second half of this book was well-paced and packed with action. I especially liked the team-like rapport the investigators had with each other and Leigh as they worked on solving multiple murders and violent acts targeting Leigh. The many characters representing several agencies bonded by their common concern for Leigh's safety, and I felt the author did an excellent job of showing the progression of these peripheral relationships. I also enjoyed the diversity of the characters the author developed for this series. The final few chapters of the book are filled with the twists and turns that make suspense books so fun to read! I highly recommend this book for fans of clean fiction, romantic suspense, thrillers, medical fiction, and mysteries. The second book in this series, 'In too Deep', will be released in November, 2018. {Note: Some of the forensic evidence and physical violence in this story is gruesome in my opinion. The book is completely clean in language and content.} Disclosure from reviewer: I received a paperback copy of this novel from the publisher in exchange for an honest review to be posted on my blog and on retailer sites and Goodreads. I received no compensation for my review or posts here or on any other site. #########

An intriguing novel full of suspense, murder, friendship and romance. Follow an investigation team as they dive and look for suspicious activity under the waters surface. Leigh is a nurse practitioner who was being stalked. She moved away and thought she was now safe. But cut brake lines on her car, among other things tells her she isn't safe after all. Is she not even safe working her new job in the emergency room with all kinds of security? Enter Ryan, a friend from high school, who is now a volunteer underwater investigator. How does what is found under water in a lake close to Leigh's house tie in with what is happening to her, or does it? I kept trying to figure out who or what was happening but my guesses were way off base. If you like a great suspense novel please give this one a try. You won't be disappointed. I received a complimentary copy of this novel but was not required to write a review.

** “How could he do it? How could he let it all happen? He was God. He was in control. He had the power to stop it. Didn’t he? She knew he did. So if he did have the power, then why wouldn’t he use it on her behalf? Didn’t he care? She didn’t have the answer. Her parents would have said of course he cared. That he was working out everything for her good and his glory. But it certainly didn’t feel that way.” ** Lynn H. Blackburn’s newest novel, “Beneath the Surface,” is an intense, can’t-put-it-down, keep-you-guessing-until-the-end romantic suspense thriller that will definitely gain her many new fans. When homicide investigator and dive team member Ryan Parker, along with his partner Gabe Chavez, finds a body — missing its head, feet and hands — in Lake Porter, his life is thrown in a flurry of craziness. Seeking the help from childhood friend and secret crush Leigh Weston, a nurse who happens to live near the recovery site, sends his life into even more of a tailspin. When a second body in a similar condition is found, and when attempts on Leigh’s life are made, Ryan and his police buddies must dive deep into what’s happening in their quaint little North Carolina town … and determine if the two dead bodies have anything to do with the incidents against Leigh. “Beneath the Surface” is a heart-pounding, fast-paced suspense thriller with just enough romance thrown in to delight both the fans of love stories and thrillers. And Blackburn has developed a great core of characters that I’m sure we will see again in future installments of this series. Ryan and Leigh are both strong characters but with very real flaws. Fellow cops Gabe, Anissa and Adam are dedicated yet quirky. And computer genius Sabrina is both funny and delightful. But Blackburn offers more than just an amazing romantic thriller with a great plot and great characters in “Beneath the Surface.” She also offers many great lessons and gems — how to carry on when God seemingly stops answering your prayers; how struggles can draw us closer to God; God’s faithfulness and His promise that he “will never leave you, nor forsake you”; and safety and security are ours as children of God. And as the title even hints, this story reminds us that there is so much more to what we can see in each of our lives … beneath the surface. Fans of Lynette Eason, Patricia Bradley, Terri Blackstock and Sandra Orchard will enjoy “Beneath the Surface.” Blackburn was a new author to me, but I’m now a fan and I can’t wait for the series’ second installment, due out in December. Five stars out of five. Revell, a division of Baker Publishing Group, provided this complimentary copy for my honest, unbiased review.

This is the first book I have read by Ms. Blackburn. This suspense-filled story is engaging and entertaining! This is a modern day romantic suspense novel that focuses on two characters, Leigh and Ryan. Leigh is a nurse practitioner at a local hospital who someone is trying to kill. Ryan is a cop that investigates what is occurring in Leigh’s life. As you read, you will wonder who is guilty and what will occur next. If you are looking for a new book and/or author to read in the suspense genre, this would be a great selection for you. Her books remind me of Lynette Eason’s thrilling books. I highly recommend you read this book! After reading this book, I will be reading her other books. ***I was given a free electronic copy of this book from the publisher. This is my honest opinion. Even though I received this copy free, this is my own opinion.

Beneath the Surface starts off with a bang when a body is discovered, get this, beneath the surface of a lake. But while this gruesome find is mysterious, the overall story is about one woman, who is targeted to be the next victim, and one man, who does everything in his power to make sure that doesn’t happen. The situation appears helpless, hopeless, and downright dangerous, and time is running out. Leigh and Ryan are friends from childhood, but recent events have thrown them together as adults. As the threats against Leigh escalate, the romantic sparks begin to fly between these two, adding another exciting layer to the already tense situation. The characters and plot are well developed, and the author has crafted a fast-paced story that hits the ground running and doesn’t let up until the last page. The best part about Beneath the Surface is the overall message of how you really don’t know the people with whom you work or come in contact throughout your life. This aspect is the real horror of the story because people aren’t always what they seem. The truth of people’s personalities and motives is sometimes just beneath the surface. Leigh doesn’t make enemies, so why is someone trying to kill her? Read Beneath the Surface to find out the thrilling details for yourself. I have to admit I thought the killer was someone else. I was convinced page after page, but oh how wrong I was. Well done, Lynn H. Blackburn!

I thoroughly loved this book! I started it the evening I got it thinking I would spread the time over the weekend reading it. Nope! I could NOT put it down. I even tried the "I'll just read to the end of the chapter" idea. Not a chance. If you love being drawn into a story as if you are living it too, then you will love the way the author got you so involved with what was happening. There was suspense. There was action. There was romance. A few chapters in, all while clues were beginning to give you a picture of who might have done the horrific things, I began to think I had it figured out. I was going towards another person in the story, not the one or ones that were sort of becoming a little obvious. So, of course, there was another reason I couldn't put the book down—I had to see if I was right! When I turned to the very last page at 1:00 am, I found I was close . . . but wrong. Lynn Blackburn did a wonderful job with this book and I can hardly wait for #2 in the Dive Team Investigations to come out. I highly recommend this book if you love a suspenseful romance. Disclaimer: I have received this book with no expectations in return. The honest thoughts regarding this book are mine.

I received a copy of BENEATH THE SURFACE by Lynn H. Blackburn from Revell in exchange for an honest review. It is the first book in the series “Dive Team Investigations.” I love a good mystery. There’s nothing like getting lost in a who done it. The mystery portion of this takes a back seat to the action. There is action after action after action. The characters are believable, with a strong female lead. There is some romance, but it isn’t the central point. If you love books with plenty of suspense, the kind of suspense that keeps you reading, you cannot miss out on BENEATH THE SURFACE. This is Christian fiction, so the faith is strong, but it isn’t all the book is about. Instead, it is woven seamlessly into the adventure. Don’t start reading this if you don’t have a lot of time to devote to getting lost in chapters.

Wow and wow. I rarely use the word “amazing” in a review. I’m using it in this one. It takes less than five minutes to get completely absorbed in this story of mystery and suspense. The plot is intriguing and every page holds a new twist that you did not see coming. I completely connected with these characters and cared very much about them. I did not want to put this book down until I had finished it. It’s a pleasure to read such a well-crafted mystery story that has an element of faith carried throughout the whole story line. No bad language, no embarrassing scenes. I am so looking forward to reading the next book in this series. Lynn H. Blackburn, you are now on my list of must-read mystery writers! I received a copy of this book from the publisher for review. I was not asked to give a positive review. This is my honest opinion of the book.

Beneath the Surface is a fast paced, edgy suspense that I found hard to put down. A headless, handless, and footless body is found in a lake in central North Carolina by sheriff investigators doing a practice dive. The location is near the dock and house of Nurse Practitioner Leigh Weston, friend of one of the investigators, Ryan Parker. Because of the location, he asks Leigh if they might use her dock as a point to meet and investigate from. The next morning after working in the emergency department at the hospital all night, Leigh is on the way home when her brakes fail. Someone has cut her brakes on purpose. She wounds up back in the hospital. Leigh's life is suddenly put in danger and as attempts on her life continue, Ryan and his team try to find answers and protect Leigh. Why would someone want to kill her? There are so many questions and no answers. How can they identify the body and is there a connection to what is happening to Leigh. Then another body shows up at a house on the lake. The plot to this book is intricate and complicated with layers that kept me interested in finding out the mystery of how it all tied together and it was not what/who I came close to guessing. The characters are real and likable with a camaraderie was intense, funny and endearing. There is a little romance brewing by the end of the book. This is a great Christian suspense that I highly recommend. I look forward to reading the next book and got a glimpse of it at the end of this book. Lynn H. Blackburn is a new to me author and I plan to look into her other books. Thanks to NetGalley and Revell for allowing me to read and review this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

"Was that when it all started? The slow drift away from a God who, in her mind at least, had let her down? Did she quit talking to him when he didn't save her dad?" As Leigh Weston struggles to understand why someone is trying to kill her she also questions God's presence in her life. "Was he working for her good even though it looked like he was dropping the ball? Could she trust him to keep her alive? Or trust him if that wasn't his plan at all?" These are just a few of the very realistic passages that Lynn H. Blackburn shares in her new novel "Beneath the Surface". Leigh Weston is conflicted about her beliefs after surviving several attempts on her life but, even as she doubts, she isn't completely alone. A long-time friend of her brother becomes involved in her case as he works to determine if the threats against Leigh are somehow connected to the serial killer who is targeting middle-aged men. Homicide investigator and volunteer dive team member Ryan Parker has a very strong faith and as he works to solve these crimes he also tries to help Leigh find her own faith again. I thought that these two characters were very realistic in their portrayal of someone who is being tested and tried and the person who is trying to help them. It is easy to let doubts weaken one's faith and people often need help in finding their way back to belief and trust! "Beneath the Surface" has drama, suspense, and mystery and it also has sweet romance and a subtle, faith-based message. I enjoyed this exciting novel and I recommend it to other peoole who enjoy Christian mystery and suspense. I received a copy of this book from the author but a review was not required and the opinions are my own.

Excellent start to a brand new series! Author Lynn H. Blackburn is definitely one you will want to add to your 'must read' list. The suspense is great from start to finish, and there are plenty of twists and turns to keep you guessing till the end. Leigh Weston believes she has left all of her problems behind when she moves back to her childhood home. Leigh starts her new job at the local hospital with no fear of having to face a stalker from the past. She is certain the stalker was one of her patients that died before she even moved back home. Leigh is very surprised when her brothers best friend from high school, Ryan Parker shows up at her front door. Ryan works in law enforcement, and volunteers with the local dive team. When Ryan discovers a body in the lake, he asks Leigh if his team can set up their investigation on her property since she has a dock with lake access. Soon after Ryan's team starts their investigation, Leigh's life is threatened. Could there possibly be a connection, or has the stalker from the past returned to haunt her. Ryan knows his team must solve the murder case quickly, especially when Leigh may be the next target on the list. I really enjoyed the two main characters, and the interaction between them. I also liked getting to know the other members of the dive team. I am very much looking forward to reading more in this series. * I received a complimentary copy of this book. BENEATH SURFACE by Lynn.H..Blackburn..Baker Publishers Ryan and Gabe homicide detectives on a dive , volunteering to be on call, when needed. Finding weighs and chains to a body, wasn’t the norm to find on a dive. Using the dock at Leigh’s place, he was keeping eye on her anyway, brother had mentioned, she had a stalker. A good plot, trying to figure out the stalker, and assuming it is a man, and why did it envole her. An usual plot, that keeps you to the end, and the reaso behind it all. Given ARC by Net Galley for my voluntary review and my honest opinion.

From the moment I saw the cover of the first book in Lynn H. Blackburn’s Dive Team Investigations series, I was intrigued. Then I read the synopsis and have been waiting for it’s release since. Now it’s here and it was so worth the wait. When full-time homicide inspector and part-time dive team investigator Ryan Parker comes across an unexpected discovery during a training dive, he professional plate fills. Leigh Weston has returned to her family home after a harrowing experience at her previous job. Working in the Emergency Department of Carrington’s hospital is fulfilling yet residual fear remains. When multiple attempts are made on Leigh’s life, Ryan takes on the responsibility of protecting his best friend’s sister. But is he balancing too much? Will dropping the ball cost Leigh’s life? Beneath the Surface is the perfect introduction to the entire dive team, the town of Carrington, and more. With two cases, multiple intense and heart-rate-increasing situations, and a possible serial killer, this is a book you will not want to put down.
