Bert the Squirt
Bert is a sad and lonely dragon. He is different to the other dragons at school, they all shoot fire and he shoots water. One day he meets Faye, a little fiery dragon who said she was once bullied too. She stopped the bullies because she learnt that she was perfect the way she was and they couldn't get to her anymore. Suddenly disaster strikes. The dragon school is on fire. No one knows what to do, except of course for Bert. Being the only dragon that can shoot water, he saves the day and puts out the fire. It turns out that it was the bully who started the fire and now Bert is the hero. He also learns an important lesson, that being different isn't bad and that he is perfect the way he is.

Bert the Squirt is a book about a dragon the squirts water instead of fire and all the other children at Dragon School make fun of him. He meets a smaller dragon and then comes to the rescue when the school catches on fire and Bert becomes a hero. The book is a good way to start a lesson about we are all different in some ways but also have the same feelings. It is important that we do not hurt others because of differences and saying things to hurt them. My preschool children loved this book and we had a very good discussion on being kind to others.
