CHAPTER 1
We called him Big Papa because he was the biggest, strongest person we ever knew!
Everything about him was big and strong, especially his hands. Big Papa had the worlds strongest hands!
I bet he could open a walnut with his hands!
One time, at the movies, we actually saw him pick a man up right out of his seat!
He really loved it when all of his grandkids used to sit on his back at the same time.
His favorite thing in the whole world was wrestling with all his grandkids. He would turn and twist us, and tell us we looked like pretzels. We laughed until our bellies ached!
Big Papa was very silly!
Sundays were our favorite days with Big Papa.
We would have sleepovers and look forward to special oatmeal in the morning for breakfast!
Then we would run outside with Big Papa and play. Big Papa loved to play baseball, go apple picking, and go for walks.
After a long day of playing, we would go inside for a huge dinner!
Big Papa loved to eat - he'd eat salad right out of the big bowl! (sometimes he would let me try that too!).
We used to have so much fun with Big Papa!
He loved to talk in his own special language where he would change around the first letters of each word in a phrase.
So "Chicken Nuggets" became "Nicken Chuggets" and "Spelling Bee" became "Belling Spee."
Our teachers did not think the special language was quite as funny!
Big Papa loved sports! His favorite team was the Chicago Cubs.
He used to listen to all the games on his little radio.
