About the Author

Since the release of her debut contemporary romance novel, Sawyer Bennett has written more than thirty books and been featured on both the New York Times and USA Today bestseller lists on multiple occasions. A reformed trial lawyer from North Carolina, Bennett uses real-life experience to create relatable, sexy stories that appeal to a wide array of readers. From new adult to contemporary romance, she writes something for just about everyone. Bennett likes her Bloody Marys strong, her martinis dirty, and her heroes a combination of the two. When not bringing fictional romance to life, Bennett is a chauffeur, stylist, chef, maid, and personal assistant to a very active toddler, as well as full-time servant to two adorably naughty dogs. She believes in the good of others, and that a bad day can be cured with a great workout, cake, or a combination of the two.

Chapter 1
Bishop

I see her and it’s all over for me.

At least for tonight, anyway.

“I’ll be back,” I mutter to Dax as I push away from the bar, snagging my beer at the last second.

Shouldering my way through the crowd filled with twenty-something yuppies here to take advantage of the last few minutes of happy hour, I keep my eyes locked on her. How could I not, when those full, wet lips wrap around a straw sticking out of her fruity-looking cocktail, prompting wild images of those same lips wrapping around my cock.

Before I can reach her, another man—who I’m sure is having the same lewd thoughts as I am—steps up to her and blocks my view. An involuntary growl rolls up out of my chest and I grip my beer bottle harder than necessary. More images swamp my brain and I can see myself cracking the bottle over the idiot’s head. I figure at that point I’ll just drag her off to my lair like a caveman.

“No, thank you,” I hear her say as I pass behind her.

“You’re going to turn down a free drink?” the man asks incredulously.

“I can buy my own drinks,” she purrs at him before taking another long pull from her straw. Her cheeks hollow slightly and my dick twitches.

Stepping to her other side, I set my beer on the bar and lean an elbow right beside it. Her neck twists and her gaze locks with mine.  Those eyes are incredible—a golden color that I’d noticed earlier from across the bar. Even in the soft light provided mostly by neon beer signs, they almost glowed. I noticed that along with her gloriously long chocolate-colored hair as it flowed down her bare back revealed by her sexy halter top. Long-ass legs and curves everywhere. Tits, hips, ass—all f***ing spectacular.

The original plan had been to buy her a drink too, but that’s clearly not the way to this woman’s heart.

“What can I offer you besides a drink that would get you to talk to me?” I ask her.

The man on the other side of her snorts, but apparently my honest question has some merit. She tilts her head, studying me for a moment before she replies, “Read any good books lately?”

Well, heck. I’m not much of a reader.

I shake my head with an apologetic smile. “Sorry. Not my thing.”

“I just finished a reread of The Count of Monte Crisco,” the other guy says, moving in closer to her. I’m gratified by the humor that flashes in her eyes before she twists her neck the other way to give him her attention.

I see an opening and make my move. Staring over the back of her head at him, I correct his slip of words. “It’s The Count of Monte Cristo.”

The gorgeous woman whom I am bound and determined to take home tonight turns right back my way. My eyes drop and I grin at her. “I read it in high school. I have a good memory, so we could talk about that if you want.”

“I meant Monte Cristo,” the man blurts out almost frantically, but she doesn’t look back his way.

Instead, she holds out a perfectly manicured hand to me. “I’m Brooke.”

“Bishop,” I return as I shake her hand. I have an inherent sense that she would not be charmed if I kissed it.

To give the other dude credit, he knows this is defeat and melts away into the crowd.

Motioning to the stool beside her, I ask, “Mind if I join you?”

“Be my guest,” she says sweetly, swiveling slightly to face me. She uncrosses her legs and recrosses them, not even bothering to pull down her scandalously high-riding skirt. It’s black with shiny silver threaded through, and the silvery top she’s wearing displays a set of fantastic tits. I noticed them when I first saw her, but since coming to stand beside her, I’ve kept my eyes meticulously locked on her face. She knows they look phenomenal and that I’ve already looked.

“Are you here by yourself?” I ask her, because while not totally unusual, most women dressed like that come out in packs for a night of fun on the town.

“I was actually meeting a coworker here tonight, but she texted me just a few moments ago that something came up and she can’t make it.”

That works for me.

“Gotcha,” I say as I pick up my beer and hold it up to her. “Then hopefully I can keep you well entertained in her absence. So what did you think about The Count of Monte Cristo?”

Brooke laughs and picks up her drink, tapping it to my bottle. “Actually, I’m not big into the classics. I’m more of a fashion magazine kind of girl.”

The fashion thing I get right away. I’ve dated enough women and paid for enough designer bags and shoes to know that Brooke is very much into high-quality retail. However, her refusal to let a man buy her a drink tells me she’s also independent, so she may not be into a man buying her those things.

Honestly, I wasn’t into it either—buying someone I was dating something expensive. I did it, I guess, as sort of a thank-you, and it was something they’d wanted. I did it knowing exactly what it meant to them. The women I date—and that most professional athletes date—are in it for the lavish lifestyle I can provide, with even grander hopes it could be a permanent thing one day.

It’s just the way it is.

“So what does this fashion magazine kind of girl do for a living?” I ask her, getting settled into the type of conversation that I hope will spark enough of a connection that I’ll be f***ing her later.

Her smile is neither coy nor flirty, but as direct as her gaze. “I do event planning. What about you?”

“Sounds exciting,” I say, having no goddamn clue what that even means.

She shrugs. “That remains to be seen. I just relocated out here.”

Funny. So did I.

Now would be a good time for me to wow and amaze this woman with the fact that I’m a professional hockey player and I just moved here to join the newly franchised team, the Arizona Vengeance. And you know, if it puts her in my bed all the more quicker, so f***ing be it.

I shoot a quick glance down the bar where I’d left Dax, my teammate who joined me here in Phoenix direct from our positions with the New York Vipers. The Vengeance is the first team that’s been added to the league in eighteen years and I’m not overly thrilled to be here. This year the Vipers are poised to give the Carolina Cold Fury a solid run for their money for the championship, and now suddenly to be moved out west to an expansion team has not made me happy. It’s why a night f***ing my brains out with this gorgeous creature would be a great way to end my summer vacation before training camp starts tomorrow.

Dax is talking to a woman—leaning intimately close—and I’m guessing he’s going to be getting lucky tonight. My eyes come back to Brooke, and I decide to leverage my star status to move things along. If my gut is right about this sexy-as-heck lady, it’s going to be a long night.

Before I can even tell her about how I’m a hot-as-shit right winger, she leans into me and places a hand on my thigh. “Bishop?”

5 star Review Bishop (Arizona Vengeance #1) by Sawyer Bennett This is the first book in a new series from Sawyer Bennett and she is off to a flying start and I do believe she has another winning series on her hands. This is Bishop Scott and Brooke Perron’s story. This is hockey at it’s finest. I loved the dynamic between Bishop and Brooke, he is sexually dominant and knows what he wants and goes after it. Hooking up for what they both expect to be a one night stand, Bishop is shocked when he finds out that Brooke is the daughter of his new coach and even worse that she also works for the team. I was absolutely hooked on this book from the first to the last chapter and couldn’t put it down. The chemistry between these two is off the charts and I loved the banter and humour as well. Throwing up a smokescreen engagement when her father catches them kissing it was fun to see these two travel the path together as the walls between them fell. There is plenty of action on and off the ice and I cannot wait to see where Sawyer Bennett takes this team and I am excited for the next release in the series.

I love everything Sawyer Bennett writes, especially her books about sexy hockey players. So naturally, I was excited to learn she is starting the new Arizona Vengeance hockey series. The Arizona Vengeance are a new hockey franchise and the owner has been able to hire some of the best players from all the teams around the country. This first story in the series is about Bishop, one of the players traded to the Arizona Vengeance. Bishop is still adjusting to his trade when, just before training camp starts, he meets Brooke at a bar and they have a one-night stand. Afterwards, Bishop discovers Brooke is his new coach’s daughter and she also works for the Arizona Vengeance. Bishop is surprised and nervous by this turn of events. When Bishop's new coach finds him kissing Brooke, they decide to pretend they are in a relationship. Bishop and Brooke try to keep their distance from each other, but circumstances keep bringing them together. As they spend more time together, they discover they have a lot in common, enjoy each other’s company and share a lot of chemistry. I liked both Bishop and Brooke and thought they complement each other. Bishop is a great guy; he is caring and protective of Brooke and he also has a good relationship with his teammates. Brooke is sweet, has a big heart and she can’t help herself from falling for Bishop. This is a feel good, fun story with great writing and dialogue. The characters are easy to connect with and there are lots of entertaining secondary characters. I can’t wait I read more books in this series.

(3.5-3.75 STARS) TBH I was a bit skeptical about starting this series. I enjoyed Ms. Bennett’s CAROLINA COLD FURY series and my first though was “been there, done that.” While I could see similarities between both series, I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed BISHOP. I wasn’t too keen on how far they took the fake fiancé’ aspect of their relationship. Once that was exposed I wanted more and they definitely deserves an epilogue. Being able to look past my peeves, BISHOP was a strong start to the series and a great escape to get your mind of things for a while.

Bishop meets the most amazing woman. Then to his surprise, she chooses him for the night. What happens when he finds her at his place of work the next morning? Brooke is in utter shock to see Bishop at her new workplace. When he finds out she is his new coach's daughter, they both seem blindsided. Brooke has a plan. Let it play out. The start to this new Arizona Vengeance series, is incredible. True to this author's history, she knows her romance and she knows her hockey. I love this story and how the characters find one another. The sexy times are smokin' hot as well.

I thought this was a good read! The writing flowed well, and I thought the characters were developed nicely. Bishop and Brooke had great chemistry, and I thought they were good together. I wished Brooke would have had a little more backbone. She let Nannette walk all over her, and Bishop had to be the one to do anything about her. The only thing I would have liked would have been an epilogue. I know this is going to be a series, but I still would have liked a little bit of a longer look into their future. This was a first for me from this author, but it won't be my last. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.

I've read a few books by this author and absolutely loved them, and this one is no different. I haven't read too many hockey related books, but damn I do love me some sexy athletes! Bishop was just yummy! At 6'5", commanding and totally sweet as well, he's hard not to love! He starts off as your "typical" athlete, just looking for fun, nothing serious, but he meets Brooke and things take an unexpected turn. Their whole predicament was kind of silly, but completely entertaining. Brooke means well and Bishop, the nice guy that he is, goes along for the ride. I love how they both think this will end a certain way, but then find that they have more than just sexual chemistry. I love the scene where Bishop puts Sebastion in his place. Total Alpha moment and how I expect hockey players to act haha! I also love Bishop's take-charge attitude...those bedroom scenes...whew! HOTT!! Things go pretty great for the duo until an unexpected guest comes along, Bishop also gained more points from me with the way he dealt with the nutter, I hated that yatch...like with a passion! I loved the other guys in this book and can't wait to read the whole series with Dax, Erik, Legend and the mysterious Tacker. I cannot wait to read Erik's book. I find it absolutely hilarious that he finds a woman who is immune to his ways. The ending of this book kinda made me feel...meh. Okay, not meh, but I wish there was a little more to it. An epilogue or something, I sort of felt like it just ended. Anywho, loved the book either way and ready for Erik and Blue!! #B2BKristina

When Sawyer Bennett announced her new hockey romance series, I automatically added all the books to my TBR. As always, Bennett delivered a great story with a fabulous heroine and hero, and also, some hockey. I loved the set up of this story so much. One night stand to fauxmance to romance. I always enjoy seeing this type of relationship evolve into something real, and Bishop and Brooke are no exception to this rule. They had great chemistry. They were fun and playful, but you could totally see it turning into more. They shared laughs and hot sex, but they also found themselves confiding in each other, venting to one another, and sharing quite a few sweet and tender moments too. Bishop was an interesting hero. He seemed to be this macho alpha type, but then he started talking about his mom, and this whole other side of him was revealed. I watched him turn from this party playboy to a one woman man. It was gradual, and I really liked the way Bennett slowly pulled back his layers. Brooke was, simply put, a really nice person. She uprooted her life to move to Arizona in order to lend emotional support to her dad. She showed kindness, when other people didn't, and I found her really easy to like. At one point I was shaking my head, because her big heart got her into a little situation, but I never stopped rooting for her. I have to say, I am really excited about this series. Bennett introduced many of the members of the Vengeance, and I am looking forward to getting to know them better. I have to admit, I am most excited about Tacker's book. He was one of the most complicated players we met, and I KNOW his story will, no doubt, be super emotional. Overall: A fun and sexy start to a series I am excited about.

Forbidden fruit always tastes better! With the kick off of a new hockey series, Sawyer Bennet introduces us to the Arizona Vengeance team and brings us Bishop's story. The characters are quick to grab attention, and keep us entertained throughout. The team is coming on strong and has a batch of guys that look for some fun times as we dig further into this series. Can't wait for more of their stories! Really enjoyed! Hot shot hockey player Bishop Scott might just have a little grudge to even up against his former team now that he's been snapped up by the newest team in the NHL, Arizona Vengeance. He plans to play the best hockey of his life, but needs to cut loose the night before training starts to get it out of his system for a bit. When he meets a gorgeous woman at the bar who seems just as down as him for a single night of hot, steamy, no holds barred sex, he's ready to go! Brooke Perron had no idea the guy she slept with last night was one of her hockey coach father's players! She sitting here in her office at the arena and in he walks to snag her into a steamy kiss like the night never ended. Too bad her dad just walked in! She has to save Bishop from her dad's wrath, so she conveniently introduces him to dear old dad as her fiancee. This fake relationship might end quickly, but it's going to be a lot of fun while it lasts!

Sawyer Bennett is one of those authors I keep meaning to check out and just never have so when I saw this book listed on NetGalley I requested an ARC immediately. This may have been my first Sawyer Bennett book but it will not be my last. I love how easily Bishop and Brooke go from one night stand to fauxmance to real relationship.....almost without even noticing it themselves. I can't wait to read about Erik and Legend. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I loved this first book in this series. Bishop was hot, sexy and all kinds of sweet. Brooke was sweet and kind. These two together were so cute, I loved the friendship they developed over time and that is wasn't just about sex. When everything comes out in the open can these two survive? I loved meeting all the players on the team and I can't wait for their stories, some of them look to be very interesting.

I received a review copy of the book before release for an honest review. I LOVED this new story from author Sawyer Bennett. It is a fun new series about a new Arizona Hockey Team. Bishop is the new kid on the block and on his first night he meets Brooke who he has a one night stand with. The next day he runs out on her and then sees her at the hockey center. They end up very close and when her dad, his coach finds them, Brooke realises that Bishop could be in trouble so she claims they are engaged. Bishop meanwhile feels like it is fate and so he goes with it. I loved his character so much. He is very open to life and love and he was a really fun character. He and Brooke get to know each other and while having hot sex, they also become very close friends and fall in love. But what happens when her dad finds out the truth? This was a HOT and fun story and I cannot wait for more in this series.

Bishop Scott was traded to the new NHL expansion team in Arizona, the Arizona Vengeance, along with his best friend of many years Dax. Deciding to party some before their first day of practice, they head off to a popular hot spot. Noticing this beautiful woman sitting at the bar by herself, Bishop decides to make a move, even thou every other guy seems to have the same idea. As she turns down a guy next to her, Bishop makes his move and it seems like they both are in the same mindset. A night of hot sex with no strings attached. Even as he walks into the arena the next morning, he can’t stop thinking about Brooke wishing he would have gotten her last name and phone number. Passing through the staff offices, Bishop does a double take when he sees Brooke sitting down in one of them. Going up to her, they continue where they left off last night with a very hot kiss. That is until they get interrupted by the Coach, who also happens to be her father. To protect Bishop, Brooke tells her father that they are engaged! Unable to utter a word, Bishop is struck numb. Later that day Brooke explains that if she hadn’t said that, her Dad would take it out on him and possibly bench him. Bishop at first is extremely angry about the lies, till Brooke explains that they will just plan a breakup in a couple of weeks. It’s a win win situation, what could go wrong? Everything, that’s what! I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Bishop by Sawyer Bennett is Arizona Vengeance book #1 and if this series is anything like Ms. Bennett's Cold Fury series we are in for a lot of fun. Bishop Scott is out for a night of fun before his first meeting with his new team, the Arizona Vengeance, the newest expansion team in the league. When, Brooke Perron, the woman he has his eyes on seems just as amiable as he to have a night of fun he is in luck. The next day when it turns out she works for the team things heat up again real fast. That is until her father, who just so happens to be his new coach catches them in the act. Thankfully Brooke is fast on her feet, but all of a sudden Bishop has fake fiance and a coach that is breathing down his neck more than any other player on the team, and for more than one reason. Brooke's plan to eventually ease away from each other and take the blame for the break up seems like a good one, but the adage that practice makes perfect is usually more true as practice makes permanent and what Bishop and Brooke are practicing is starting to become both. Perfect and maybe permanent. Ms. Sawyer has a talent for crafting fun characters that are put in interesting situations and this story was a fun ride. Brooke and Bishop click so well that it's not possible to let go. Both of their personalities shine through and their connection is strong from the start. Overall I very much enjoyed Bishop by Sawyer Bennett and can't wait for the rest of this series. (I voluntarily reviewed an advance review copy of this book I received for free from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for my open and honest review. Bishop is a good start to Bennett's new hockey series. The book is a fun read about finding love while painting yourselves into a corner with lies. I liked the character of Bishop and his love interest Brooke, too. I felt like they were well matched and both deserved to find love in each other. The secondary characters are likable as well and I look forward to their books. I will say I found the ridiculous names many of the secondary characters had distracting. We all have one friend who ended up with a stupid name, but multiple friends with stupid names? Not usually. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Sports or Contemporary Romance. I received an ARC in exchange of my honest review.

This one was a winner! It didn't take much to get me excited about this book. Once I saw Sawyer Bennett's name on the cover and saw that it was about a hockey player, I knew that I had to read it. The fact that it is the first book in a new series is even better. I have really enjoyed the Cold Fury Hockey series but I was looking forward to meeting a new group of characters. I ended up having such a good time with Bishop! Bishop has been added to the new expansion team, the Arizona Vengeance, and is new in town. The whole team has just been put together and he is excited to see how things will work out. He goes out to a local bar the night before his first team meeting and meets Brooke. The two end up spending one very steamy night together. Turns out Brooke is the coach's daughter and an employee of the team and things are not as simple as they thought it was going to be. When Brooke tells her father they are engaged, Bishop doesn't know what to think. I don't always spend a lot of time reading book descriptions so I had no idea that this book was going to have a fake relationship. I love the fake relationship trope lately so I was really excited to see it play out in this book. These two had such great chemistry with each other so it was really no hardship for them to have to spend a little bit of extra time with each other. This fake relationship started looking pretty real to me rather quickly. I really liked the characters. Bishop and Brooke were both new in town, having moved to Arizona to be a part of the new team. Brooke is dealing with a few more changes in her life since her new job isn't really what she wants to do long term but she feels like she needs to be there for her dad. Bishop wasn't really all that thrilled to have to move to the expansion team but he wants to make the most of it. There were a few of Bishop's teammates that played a pretty big role in the story and I really liked what they added as well. There was one character that was really hard to like in this book but it was kind of fun to see all the crazy things she was doing. I would recommend this book to others. I had a great time with this romance and found it to be the perfect blend of great characters, steamy scenes, and heartfelt moments. I cannot wait to read more of this series by Sawyer Bennett! I received a digital review copy of this book from Random House Publishing Group - Loveswept via NetGalley.

I'm a huge fan of the Cold Fury series, so I couldn't wait to jump into Ms. Bennett's new hockey series! This was a great book while telling Brooke and Bishop's story it also sets up the new world we are embarking into. Brooke and Bishops fake romance which turns real was hot and exciting. Meeting all of these new players and immersing myself in this world was so much fun! I love Ms. Bennett's world building and 3-D characters. This was a great start to this new series and I look forward to so much more to come!

Sawyer has cleverly created a spin-off from her Cold Fury series to include some of the players that have made an appearance in the books but were not actually part of Cold Fury.  The first hockey player in the spotlight is Bishop, a high flyer in the hockey world which also means he has a high salary to go along with his status, making him vulnerable to trades. Which is how he finds himself on a new team that has been created to expand the league. A mixture of resentment at being traded and excitement over being in the team from the beginning are at war within Bishop, yet he always brings his A game. Even in other areas of his life  Bishop and Brooke are at the same club the night before the pre-season training is due to begin, both letting lose before they have to buckle down to their respective new lives. One thing leads to another and things get hot, hot, hot. While they both make a lasting impression on each other, neither thought to pursue anything beyond the one night due to their relocations. However, fate has other plans in store for Bishop and Brooke when Brooke's new job for team relations is for none other than the Arizona Vengeance who Bishop now plays for!!!!! Not only that but Brooke's father happens to be Bishop's new coach!!!!! Caught in a compromising position by said coach/father, causes Brooke to invent a committed relationship with Bishop going so far as to claim an engagement. Going along with the deception and getting to spend more time with Brooke are a positive for Bishop. We all know that fake relationship leads to real feelings, however, Sawyer adds a humorous twist to her tale by adding Bishop's inner monologues to the mic and his battle to understand his emotions, lol. Team-mates are introduced along with snippets of their backstories paving the way for their individual stories in the series. There is also a clever sub-plot within Bishop that adds an extra dimension to the plot as a whole and forces Bishop and Brooke to accept their feelings for each other.

4 Stars Review by Amy W. Late Night Reviewer Up All Night w/ Books Blog Sawyer Bennett starts her Arizona Vengeance series off with a bang. Bishop is a fun, entertaining and sexy as hell read. Bishop Scott has been traded to a new team and moved to a new city. A night on the town and a little 'fun' leads to the one-nightstand of one-nightstands. Brooke seems absolutely perfect and they are compatible in and out of bed, too bad he'll never see her again, right? Brooke Perron accepted a cushy, made up position in order to be near her grieving father. When her hook-up from the night before shows up in her office, sparks fly for them yet again. Then her father walks in and she drags Bishop around on the ride of his life with her announcement that they are engaged. I see her and it's all over for me. I was hooked from the first line. This is definitely a charming sports romance with lots of laugh out loud moments. Both characters have no inhibitions when it comes to sex and they let the passion fly. Outside the bedroom they have to work at a relationship, but that's mostly because they get in their own way. I haven't read any of the Carolina Cold Fury novels and it's not necessary in order to begin this series, but I totally need some more hot hockey players to tide me over until the next book comes out. Bishop is a winner for me.
