Overview

Missy Robertson knew that marrying duck-hunting family man Jase Robertson would be an adventure . . . and she was up to the challenge. Their life together was good (even after Jase grew the beard). They had two children, worked hard to help build the thriving Duck Commander business, and loved and served God.

But after a difficult and risky pregnancy, their daughter, Mia, was born with a cleft palate—a serious condition requiring multiple cranial and facial surgeries. As their baby struggled to breathe, and Missy and Jase faced a life that suddenly looked very different than the one they’d planned, they found themselves staring down one of life’s biggest questions: Where is God in all this pain?

This is the Robertsons’ story. It’s for anyone scared and overwhelmed by a problem they can’t fix; anyone lost and searching for a way through. You’ll meet the young girl Mia who captured A&E’s Duck Dynasty viewers’ hearts, and learn how Missy and Jase have raised her and their sons to be faithful, confident, and secure in who they are. You’ll be inspired by how the Robertson family stuck by each other through the hardest times. And you’ll discover that God’s blessings are bigger than you ever dreamed—and there when you need them the most.

I will give this to my daughter who also has a little girl with special needs. It is amazing to me how Mia's journey parallels Emma's, including many surgeries. Emma is also an avid hunter and I've been told I am the Miss Kay of our family. I really enjoyed the Spiritual encouragements in the book, too.

I thought this was very well written. Like many I knew a little about the Robertson's as a whole, but discovered so much more depth to the family and ,of course, to Missy and Jase Robertson, through this book. They are such great examples of hanging on through the hard and trusting God. Whether or not someone reading this book has themselves had similar hard times or not, I think this book is definitely worth anyone's read. That being said, if someone is facing similar hard times this is a great resource.

Mia stole my heart on Duck Dynasty. Missy shares the story of her, Jase, their two sons and Mia in a very open and honest way. Their family and faith and how she and Jase reacted in different ways made for an enjoyable read and the highlight of the book is a copy of a speech Mia gave when she was 11 in the end of the book. Read that speech with a tissue, Mia is an inspiration. I love the part of the speech where she talks of not letting people get her down, she just laughs it off like her Dad did when he was thrown out of the Trump Hotel. Perhaps this book should have been called Mia Moo. Great pictures are included in the book. I especially love the one of Mia's brother escorting her down the hospital hall after surgery. I have read several of the Robertson books and I have yet to be disappointed. I highly recommend UnPhiltered and Si's book.. The tabbed Duck Commander Bible is beautiful also and would make a beautiful gift even if it is a gift for yourself.

Since their rise to fame a few years ago, the Robertson family has taken turns releasing books that tell their stories. The latest family member to take a turn is Missy Robertson, wife to Jase. In her book, Blessed, Blessed…Blessed, Missy shares the story of how she became a member of the famous duck hunting family and all the things the family has faced, the main focus being the journey they’ve faced in dealing with their daughter Mia’s cleft lip and palate. Missy’s writing is honest and heart-felt, giving readers an insight into how the family faced this ordeal. She doesn’t try and sugar coat anything, but reveals just how they struggled with the situation and how they saw God’s hand at work. I enjoyed reading this story, especially learning how positive Mia has been throughout her struggles. It was amazing to learn just how God intervened in the situation and the fact that Mia seems to be truly aware of this, she has such strong faith for such a young girl. Just like the other books written by the Robertson family, Blessed, Blessed…Blessed gives readers an opportunity to get a little glimpse into their lives and get to know their story a little better. They had two children, worked hard to help build the thriving Duck Commander business, and loved and served God. But after a difficult and risky pregnancy, their daughter, Mia, was born with a cleft palate―a serious condition requiring multiple cranial and facial surgeries. Not that the book was uninteresting, just some moments included within the book didn't hold my interest and I would jump to another book and rad a few chapters before switching back to this one. Although the Missy does a great job of portraying emotions she walked through with her pregnancy with Mia and Mia's series of surgeries. The heart and message of the book is that no matter how difficult, God is there waiting to bless us. I would recommend this book especially to Duck Dynasty fans. All views are my opinion only. I received this complimentary book for reviewing purposes from Tyndale House.
