About the Author

Jocelynn Drake is the New York Times bestselling author of the Dark Days series and lives in Florida. When not at her desk, she is most likely to be found playing video games, watching movies, or hanging with her family.

A Southern girl with an overactive imagination, RITA® and PRISM Award winner Terri Garey lives in Florida, where anything weird is considered normal. A former computer analyst, she left the dry world of logic behind in order to write novels filled with fantasy, romance, and happily-ever-afters.

Caris Roane has had a longtime love affair with vampires and now writes in the paranormal genre. Her Guardians of Ascension series is set in a unique vampire world based on ascending dimensional earths, and the sixth book, Gates of Rapture, will be released in 2012. Caris lives in Phoenix, Arizona, with her two cats, Sebastien and Gizzy.

Fang padded up to Bone, who was chewing on a old chicken leg bone. "Bone?" Fang asked. "Yes?" Bone asked. "Yes, family...just came in here. But I don't know what to say next. Can you tell me?" Fang asked. "Just say that to only be here for a moment-" Bne was interrupted by pawsteps coming through the twoleg alleyway. "Just go..." Bone hisses. Fang padded off through the corner to see a very small black tom with a white paw sniffing at a hot dog. Cross, Fang's friend, was watching next to Fang. "Should we scare him off?" Cross asked. "That hot dog does look tasty. I wouldn't let that runt get it. Let's do this." Fang whispered as he and Cross flies through the air and towards the black kit. "Get lost, scrap!" Cross hissed as he and Fang devoured the hot dog as the small black kit continues to walk down the alley. "Hey! You! Little bit." Bell, Fang's mother, whispered silently to the tiny kit. 'She was living in a box!' Fang wanted to tell the kit, but he didn't say anything. The small kit looked around in bewilderment and then spotted Bell. "Yeah, you heard me. You lost? Want something to eat?" Bell asked the tiny kit. Fang jumped. 'My mother isn't that stupid! But what the heck! She's old!' Fang thought. "You...don't mind sharing?" The tiny kit asked her. 'Please let her say no...' Fang praises. "I can't resist kittens down on their luck. C'mere." Bell whispered to the tiny kit as she passes the tiny black kit a chicken leg. The kit sinks his fangs in the juicy food. "This is delicious." The kit commented. "What is it?" He added through a mouthful of chicken meat. Bell narrowed her eyes on the small kit. "Chicken. I'm surprised you don't know, you being a kittypet and all." Bell murmured. The tiny kit's head bolted up, his blue eyes focusing on her's. "I keep hearing that word. What's a 'kittypet?'" The kit asked curiously. "It's what you are. Cat that lives with the twolegs. That collar gives it away..." Bell meowed as Fang and Cross stare at the kit's plain purple collar. "I would ask what you're doing here, but hey...none of my bisinuss." Bell added. The kit nodded and looked at a shattered mirror Fang uses for battle training when he was little. Suddenly, the kit bites on his collar. Fang and Cross, along with other cats such as Tabby, Brick, and Spots, watches in humor as the kit rolls around, trying to tear the collar off. Fang and everyone else except for Bell broke out in laughter. Once the kit notice, he slauntered away in anger as he dissappeared when he walks over the alleyway's corner. Fang looked at Bell. "Yu seriously have to do that?" He growled. "What? That kittypet was starving unlike you and that friend of yours scared him off." Bell rasped. "Hey, Fang!" Cross called to him. "Spots and Roar found a whole statch of food lying around. You want to try some?" Fang turned to his friend. "Yeah, yeah sure. Anything t get away from my mother." Fang meowed as he padded next to Cross and walked to a small pile of food. He could see two gray-and-white cats already eating it. "Spots! Roar!" Fang called to them and sat next t them, his dark fur pressing against the earth as he lays down and eat. Cross sits next to Roar and his dark gray-and-white fur showed during the shining sun...
