My name is Phoenix Swartz. I am trapped in a nightmare marriage of fear and abuse and cannot escape my tyrant husband. Charles Swartz was abusive and demanding. He ruled my life with a leather strap and harsh words. The physical and mental abuse I suffered at his hands made me hate and fear him.
Death would be the only thing that could release me from our marriage.
I've met a man named John Westerling. He is not what I've learned to expect from men. He is caring, thoughtful, encouraging, and dotes on his only daughter. He treats me as his equal and his encouragement builds me up. His displays of patience and love to everyone around draws my heart to him.
Can the love we are finding together stand against a woman from his past who threatens to tear us apart and destroy all that we are working to achieve? Will I be able to trust again after being married to a tyrant?

Excellent take on the subject of abuse and recovery. And had a couple of good plot twists. Great read.

Imagine falling in love with the perfect man who's polite, smart and handsome. You marry. Instead of the romantic trip (he promised), you go straight from the church to your own living hell! Beatings, not romance, starts off your marriage. Constantly belittled, no one to talk to. Sex wasn't often but it was painful. That's how Phoenix and Charles lived. Then, Charles was gone. Phoenix met John when she was planting a rosebush. She'd never felt a physical attraction to a man before meeting him; it scared her. Men scared her! Slowly, Phoenix rises and blooms with John and his daughter, Anna's help. And she's not the only one to grow. Enlightening and endearing story of abuse, faith and transformation. Received book free for honest review.

4.5 star This is Phoenix and John’s story. Phoenix’s husband is abusive to her but she has strong beliefs in her vows.  When she is at her lowest she gets a savior in the handy gardener.  What happened to her husband?  Not telling.  This book shows you even when you are at your lowest you can find someone to lift you up and make you believe in everything you ever wanted.     I loved these characters and also the side characters. There are some tear filled moments and some anger filled moments in this story. But all in all I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read.  I highly recommend this book and can’t wait for the next story from this author.

Very Emotional and Moving Story, Don't miss this one! This is an extremely emotional story. My heart breaks for Phoenix Swartz and the abusive life she endured under her husband Charles. The love John Westerling showed his daughter Anne his faith and love of God. This story covers so many levels of emotions, from the pain, mental and physical abuse, to seeing the other end of the spectrum with love, gentleness, respect, a relationship with God, prayer, faith and honest commitment. This story shares the love of God and a true faith without being a preachy story.  Can a woman who has lived such an abusive life find love with a faithful Christian man? Where is God during all the pain and suffering and can she learn to believe and trust. This story is well worth reading and I am happy I read this emotional story, yes you can have the HEA ending.

Cathy Jackson is a wonderful talented writer. I was asked to read this and give an honest opinion on my thoughts. This type of book is not generally one that I would pick up off a shelf, however when asked to read I couldn't say no as the description pulled me right into it. I fell in love with Phoenix and John and little Anna from the moment they were introduced. Their story ran parallel with my own life, from my first marriage to my second marriage. This book will pull you in from start to finish, and how someone struggles finding and coping with life and love. I kept telling myself through out my life that you have to go through bad things in order to appreciate the good things that God does give to you. It has made me cherish everything, God, my husband, family and every moment I have in my life. I have come to realize that everything that comes your way, comes with a reason, you may not know that reason but sometime down the road you will shown what that reason is. Sit back and enjoy the book. You will need to have a box of tissues nearby as all sorts of emotions will emerge when reading this. God works in mysterious ways and I believe he did this with Cathy Jackson and her book BLOOM. Thank you Cathy for writing this beautiful emotionally filled book. I will definitely put you up there with my favourite authors. You are really a talented writer.
