Blue Lines: An Assassins Novel by Toni Aleo

Opposites do more than just attract in USA Today bestselling author Toni Aleo’s latest Nashville Assassins novel about a very bad boy and the good girl he can’t resist.

The instant Piper Allen sees Erik Titov, she wants him—wants his rock-hard body, sure, but the strength and mystery that lie behind that superstar hockey jock demeanor, too. So when he sidles up to her at a bar and slinks his arm around her waist, she’s lost. What follows is the wildest night of her life . . . followed by inevitable heartbreak the next morning. And then, a few weeks later, a very big surprise: two blue lines on a pregnancy test.
Only a check to the head could make Erik fall for a nice girl like Piper. But since their crazy-sexy night together, he’s been trying to forget about her alluring body by falling into bed with every woman in Nashville, and it’s not working. So when Piper shows up at his house with a baby-bomb to drop, it doesn’t take much for Erik to suggest the nuclear option: marriage. While it’s supposed to be all for show, the second they say “I do,” the ice between them starts to melt into sizzling steam.

3 STARS I liked the storyline. I like the characters. at first I did not like Erik but the more I learned about him the more I liked him. I also liked seeing the characters from other novels in the Assassins series back to see what they have been doing. The pace of the story moved right along. The things I don't like about the story is all the sex scenes and swearing. The plotline we do see is a one night stand that leads to unplanned pregnancy. Erik never plans on having a father and all of a sudden he finds out that in three months he will be one. He also gets in trouble with the Assassins team because of all his catting around. So he talks Piper into a temporary marriage to save his job and family. Piper is also his sister-in-law. Piper is a talented artist. She changes careers often. She has loved Erik for a long time. She believes in him even when he doesn't. She hides her pregnancy from everyone for a long time. Erik never answered her phone calls. Erik is a good hockey player but he cats around a lot especially after sleeping with Piper the one time. In fact he is on a lot of magazines with different women and all over the place. 5 different ladies say he is their baby's father. The Assassins are a professional hockey team. They are close together with each other. The owner Elli is also one of Piper's good friends. Elli's husband Shea is team captain. Erik's brother is on the team too. Piper's best friend is marrying a Assassin too. I skipped over the love scenes but it is hard to skip over all the swearing. I am undecided on wanting to read the next book. I really like the series except for a few parts. I was given this ebook to read and in exchange promised to give honest review by NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group - Loveswept

Unbelievably the worse romance I have ever read. How could a woman write about a selfish, weak, a-hole of a man and try to make him appealing. This guy Erik was a tramp, a jerk, unwilling to commit and pathetic. He really came across as THE GUY you should never mess with. Piper was weak, begging, and a disgrace to any woman who is about to be a mother. Wow.. he will leave her butt in a few months cause "I don' t know if I can do this" What a LOSER! No self respecting woman could tolerate the bull from this book. DELETE!

Erik is a jerk. How was anyone ever attracted to him? Piper is pathetic. She makes one stupid move after another. I didn't care about either of them and that made the whole story pointless. I saw how popular this book 4 was and so I decided to give it a chance and then catch up on the whole series later. Glad I didn't buy the entire series. If the storylines are this bad at book 4, I never want to read book 1.

I like this author- sexy without being vulgar

Erik is the biggest a-hole I have ever read. It was impossible for me to embrace his change of heart because he is so heartless in the beginning that I hated him too much to care for his redemption. Piper is an idiot for loving him. So his dad was a douche big deal, he had a lot of people to love and care for him in his life. So he follows the example of the one person who was bad. Doesn't even make sense. No excuse for what a complete and total jerk he is. All he blame others for his mistakes. He's mean cause of his daddy issues, he's a manwhore because of Piper, he's losing his job because of Piper and Elli. His behavior is immature and he is completely selfish.

Loved all the characters in the book and love the way each is spotlighted in the series. Highly recommend it!

This book would probably be 25 to 30 pages shorter if the f-bombs were even cut by a fraction. I had a very difficult time getting through the whole thing because of the foul mouthed characters. The characters were hard to take for other reasons, too. Erik is not someone that is worth knowing. Piper definitely makes women look ridiculous. I thought they weren't really believeable. I have read worse stories, but this one will surely be on my bad list. It drags...I fell asleep twice while reading this one. Cannot recommend this book.

The story line was good but the leading male character was completely unlikable, not even in a sexy bad guy way.

I loved this book. I loved that it was not the cookie cutter story of man meets woman and after a crazy night she gets pregnant and then all is right in the world. This book was great because it was very real. Everyone is not ready to be a parent and it actually brought you through the journey of him getting ready for it and her dealing with his reluctance. I laughed, I cried, and I cheered for them the whole time. I wasnt just reading it , I felt invested in them. This Auther drew me into the story of this shattered child growing into a man and being afraid to love; and a woman who grew up with so much love in her heart she had enough to envelope him and make him know real love.

## RIDICULOUS. Are you freaking kidding me? This "hero" was a complete assh*ole. He was horrible. Not to mention a womanizing pig. It was way too late in the game to try to redeem his character. God, and the heroine was TSTL (too stupid to live). Can you say human doormat? Ugh, there wasn't anything good about this book. Do yourself a huge favor and skip it. It just pissed me off that I wasted my precious reading time on this douchebag.

I dislike that she talks about all these tats on the characters but yet shows all this clean bare skin on the covers. It just doesn't work. Not that the covers aren't nice, they just don't fit the stories inside. s.

~Reviewed by FRANCESCA & posted at Under the Covers Book Blog Piper has been attracted to Erik forever, and for one night they both indulge in that attraction.  No strings attached.  It’s hot and explosive and leaves them both thinking about the other for the longest time after.  But Piper is forced to get Erik back in her life when she discovers that night of passion got her pregnant. I usually think these kinds of stories can be cute, but I found it hard to get over the jerk-y behavior from the hero.  Just when I thought I could start liking him, he did something else that just came across selfish and rude and made me want t bang his head against a wall a couple of times.  And I get that he was trying to deny his attraction because he never planned on being in a relationship because of his past etc.  It didn’t work for me. Piper is also a bit wishy-washy.  She’s seen as the irresponsible in her family, the one that you would expect would just get pregnant out of wedlock or even a relationship.  So in a way, faking they are a couple (and have been for a while) works just as much in her favor as well as Erik’s.    I gotta say I wish she would’ve shown more growth.  Starting out one way, but then when faced with this new stage of her life and the responsibilities that come with it, she could’ve stepped up and put some big girl panties on.  Taken charge.  That didn’t quite happen. The books I’ve read in this story have been cute and light and maybe a little sweet.  This was going for that and it hit at some points.  It wasn’t the strongest by far.  You know when I’m rooting for the heroine to wake her ass up and leave the bastard hanging, taking baby and everything, there’s a problem. Still, Piper and Erik have their hot moments among all this chaos.  And once I took myself out of the equation I managed to enjoyed the train wreck that was their relationship, like watching bad reality TV, I managed to enjoy some of it.  I still will give this series another chance.  I have read completely out of order but I believe these books work very well as standalones.
