Fairytales and folklore have always been an enduring part of the literary world. In The Blue Scarf, a new fairytale with echoes of familiar fairytale elements has been written. A servant girl named Alina is given a magical blue scarf for helping a caravan of gypsies. The scarf leads her on a journey of dreams and new hope. Along the way she discovers what, and who, makes her life worth living and gains the courage to stand up to those she fears.

The Blue Scarf is a beautiful fairytale of enchantment and reality. Alina has a Cinderella-like attitude to her plight of servitude, and is rewarded not with riches and a prince, but with the true love of a common man. Shelby Vice is a talented writer with an imaginative wit and a gift for the pre-teen genre. I look forward to seeing more of her work in the future.
