Book of Secrets: Unlocking the Hidden Dimensions of Your Life by Deepak Chopra

"The Book of Secrets is the finest and most profound of Deepak Chopra’s books to date. Want the answers to the secrets of life? Let me recommend that you start right here." -- Ken Wilber, author of A Brief History of Everything

We all want to know how to find a soul mate, what career would be most fulfilling, how to live a life with meaning, and how to teach our children well. We are looking for a personal breakthrough, a turning point, a revelation that brings with it new meaning. The Book of Secrets--a crystalline distillation of insights and wisdom accumulated over the lifetime of one of the great spiritual thinkers of our time--provides an exquisite new tool for achieving just that.

Every life is a book of secrets, ready to be opened. The secret of perfect love is found there, along with the secrets of healing, compassion, faith, and the most elusive one of all: who we really are. We are still mysteries to ourselves, despite the proximity of these answers, and what we most long to know remains lodged deep inside.

Because answers to the questions at the center of life are counterintuitive, they are often hidden from view, sequestered from our everyday gaze. In his ongoing quest to elevate our experience, bestselling author Deepak Chopra has isolated fifteen secrets that drive the narrative of this inspiring book--and of our lives. From "The World Is in You" and "What You Seek, You Already Are" to "Evil Is Not Your Enemy" and "You Are Truly Free When You Are Not a Person," The Book of Secrets is rich with insights. It is a priceless treasure that can transport us beyond change to transformation, and from there to a sacred place where we can savor the nectar of enlightenment.

Even though this comes from the realm of Hindu Mysticism, it defies denomination. This is a book on spirituality without invoking a specific religious tradition. It is highly influenced by Hindu Mystic thought, however. The book is divided into 15 "secrets" or aspects of spirituality. Chopra is amazing at explaining these aspects and then giving suggestions for how to incorporate them into your life. This book is written from an incredibly human perspective, which is nice in a book on spirituality. Usually the perspective comes from a "divine" or "enlightened" source. Instead we get it from a person who will include examples from his own life to explain something (everything from driving his family down the road to teaching to visiting a Hindu astrologer). I plan on sending a copy out to both my brother and my sister. We all have different brands of spirituality (he's a Gnostic-influenced Christian, she's a Pagan-influenced New Age Christian, and I'm a Mysticism-influenced Hellenic Pagan) but I think that they both will appreciate this as I have. It's a fantastic read for anyone with a deep interest in spirituality.

When I¿m presented with the latest Deepak Chopra book, I know I must carve out an entire day to sit and saturate myself with his poetic words and heightened illumination. After that day is done, nothing is quite the same. So it was with The Book of Secrets. Subtitled Unlocking the Hidden Dimensions of Your Life, this is presented by Chopra as the only way to fulfill our 'deepest hunger'. He describes it as a 'mystery' and sets out to inspire the reader 'to feel the passion and dedication required to get there'. In his fifteen secrets, ranging from 'you are not in the world, the world is in you', to meeting your real self, from the 'choiceless life' to the power of alchemy, from the natural compatibility of life and death to 'escaping the bondage of cause and effect', it¿s all here and all seething with energy. Exercises at the end of each chapter draw the reader further into the subjective perspective. I love what he has to say about seeking, about spirituality, about fear and evil, and about awareness and perspective. If you think you have already read Chopra and know what he¿s about, then I invite you to read deeper now and immerse yourself in the 'dimensions of your life'.

Deepak again hits the internal struggle we all experience head on addressing all three areas of Mind body and spirit perfectly. This book is medicine for the soul, for the physical body, centering one to their inner and outer purpose. I found this book/audio to cut through ego based boundries and open the heart to the flow of life. Surrender and acceptance are key to good health and real happiness.

What a wonderful find! I felt uplifted and inspired by the words put down in this book. I purchased this book along with Islands of the Soul: A Guide to Personal Truth and Happiness, and derived so much from reading them together. I understood more about my true self, and felt myself breaking through walls that I had previously built. I would hope others can find such goodness in their reading, as well.

Chopra's books are always a wonderful read and this was too. He breaks down this one into a series of secrets about how to break free from our self-made restrictions and to awaken to the glorious life that is our right, right now. There is an interesting free feeling to this book, as though Chopra is in a new place too. A wonderful, wonderful book. Highly recommended!!

I found 'The Book of Secrets' to be a most readable book that raises many important topics such as compassion, who we are and going beyond narrow materialistic thinking. The book asks us to go beyond materialistic achievements and limited thinking.
