The climactic third novel in New York Times bestselling author Jeaniene Frost's Night Prince series finds Vlad and his newly turned bride, Leila, at odds with each other—and vulnerable to the one vampire powerful enough to end the Dark Prince's reign . . .

Play with fire, pay the price

Leila's years on the carnie circuit were certainly an education. What she didn't learn: how to be a vampire, or how to be married to the most famous vampire of them all. Adjusting to both has Leila teetering on a knife edge between passion and peril, and now the real danger is about to begin . . .

Vlad must battle with a centuries-old enemy whose reach stretches across continents and whose strength equals his own. It isn't like Vlad to feel fear, but he does . . . for Leila, because his enemy knows she is Vlad's greatest weakness. As friend and foe alike align against him—and his overprotectiveness drives Leila away—Vlad's love for his new bride could be the very thing that dooms them both . . .

I've been following Jeaniene Frost's books since I first found the Night Huntress Series: "Halfway to the Grave". These are wonderful paranormal/vampire books, well worth the read. After she finished with the Night Huntress series (Cat & Bones), she did the Night Huntress World books. Then she brought back one of two of my favorite characters of the entire series in her Night Prince Series: Vlad Dracul (the other is Menacheres). Don't call him Dracula, it's worth getting your body burned. "Bound by Flames" is book 3 of her Vlad stories and this time he's hunting his nemesis who has the ability to get to Vlad through his newly turned wife, Leila. As they chase the guy, Vlad makes the mistake of trying to protect Leila by hiding her away, something the very talented Leila won't stand for. Sparks lead to fire, and Vlad is the source. As I said, I love the Night Prince series, and "Bound by Flames" did not disappoint. Frost always writes the book so well that I cannot put it down and trying to read slowly to savor goes out the window as I get wrapped up in the story and just have to see what Leila and Vlad are going to do next. Go Get It. If you've not read #1-Once Burned and #2-Twice Bitten, read those first to get the full story and then go try to savor #3-Bound by Flames, it's absolutely worth it.

Bound by Flames, in my opinion, is the best book that Jeaniene Frost has ever written. I absolutely adore all of her novels, but this one really stands out. It is difficult to read in places (graphic torture), but it has heart, grit, and suspense. I couldn't put this one down. I'm a huge fan of the Night Huntress Series, and Vlad has always been one of my favorite "spin-off" characters, but this book goes above and beyond any expectations I had for him and his series. Well done, Ms. Frost. I can't wait to see what you come up with next.  The character growth in this novel is astounding and extremely organic. Vlad really grows as a man, vampire, and husband in this installment. He proves he loves Leila by actually listening to her (sometimes). Leila, for her part, is coming into her own as a woman, vampire, and wife. She is learning how to deal with Vlad's overbearing ways and how to work things out through compromise. I really had tons of respect for both of them in this book. Some of the secondary characters really grow and/or show who they really are as well, and there are some very touching moments.  Like all of Frost's novels, the pacing is pretty quick, and the plot is suspenseful, and full of action and romance with a touch of comedy. Some of the plot twists really surprised me, and I loved the cameo by Cat and Fabian. This novel had to be difficult to write with the torture scenes, and Frost shows that she doesn't shy away from challenges. She paints the torture scenes as vividly as the romance scenes, and that impressed me. While some of it is a little stomach churning to read (being skinned alive, for instance), Frost's ability to not back down while writing these scenes is deserving of respect. The Epilogue delivers some much-needed lightheartedness, and it's clear from the direction of this book that the series is winding down naturally (the next installment will be the last, unfortunately). While I can't wait to see what Frost comes up with for Leila and Vlad in the 4th book, I dread the end of this series. I've come to enjoy it just as much, if not more than, Cat's and Bones' books.  Overall, I'd recommend this series to anyone who is looking for a good vampire novel that pokes some fun at the old Dracula myths. Frost is a fun and talented writer, and if you haven't read anything by her yet, you're definitely missing out.

If Vlad is quietly smiling someone is about to go up in flames, and Leila with her special gift can help find who their enimes truly are. Jeannine Frost always writes a book you just can't put down until the very last page. Well written, I can picture every dress and scene she describes. I always check the book list to see when the next book is hitting print.

Jeaniene Frost if one of my all time favorite writers. I read this when it first came out and then went back and read the first two and read this one again, I am always on the edge of my seat. I cannot find the words to tell how incredible these books are. They move you at every turn, You are either in suspense, or laughing or crying but all emotions are in engaged. Thank you Ms. Frost you have DONE IT AGAIN.!!!!!!!!

Writing the character of Vlad Tepesh has been done many times. Still, this book brings him to life in a way that is believable and exciting. Set in modern days Vlad's life is anything but normal. Married to a vampire he recently turned who is a real firecracker. The two smoke as each tries to overcome the odds set against them. Laila's powers of electricity and psychic reading through touch complement Vlad's fiery temper and powers. The end result is not necessarily what I read Jeaniene Frost's books. The journey is the best part. I would recommend this book to any friend I know that likes supernatural romance. It has the edge that keeps me coming back for more!

I enjoyed the twists and turns of the book in the Night Prince series. The story deepens as we continue to learn more about Vlad's awful past. Some interesting and new characters were introduced and I'm interested to see where this story line is headed. It's always the right mix of action, adventure, steamy romance and drama with Vlad and Leila. Jeaniene never fails me and I can't wait for the next book.

Reviewed by Francesca and posted at Under The Covers Book Blog I’m not quite sure where to start.  But let me tell you one thing…. Jeaniene Frost still got it!  BOUND BY FLAMES blew me away, kept me riveted and kept my adrenaline pumping.  This book lives up to every expectation I didn’t even know I had.  Yeah, it’s that good.  Vlad is back with a vengeance!  This is the Vlad I fell in love with in the Night Huntress series.  Ruthless, possessive, exasperating, pure dominant alpha male.  Did I mention Vlad tended toward the brutal side of archaic?  I think there will be a lot of Vlad gushing in this review, so excuse me from now. I don’t want to give too much away from the story.  Just know that Vlad is still fighting his number one enemy.  And this is a big sneaky one!  As far as bad guys go, Ms. Frost gives Vlad a run for his money with this guy.  Definitely a worthy opponent and one that really kept me on my toes and kept shocking me!  Making this such an action packed story. Leila, let’s talk about her.  She’s more and more like Cat for me.  She’s growing, she’s learning, she’s tough, and she will fight tooth and nail for her love and her relationship.  She will endure anything she must.  And she will survive.  Go girl power in this book, Leila rocks it!  And just as Leila rocks it, Vlad is so intense and overbearing that it’s everything I’ve always known him to be!  Oh, but if he was real I would stab him in his sleep.  But this is top book boyfriend material, not just for now, but forever.  Vlad has secured a permanent spot in my list of favorite heroes ever. utc-top-pickThis book is not as hot as some might have expected after such infamous scenes that Ms. Frost has written.  But every sex scene is so strategically placed and carries just the perfect emotion needed during that moment in the story!  What a great job with that!  And when I say not as hot, I don’t mean it’s dull.  Vlad knows how to rock a girls world and he definitely does that and then some.  Have I mentioned how much I need to change my name to Leila?  Leila Dracula that is. ;) For the Night Huntress series fans out there, Cat is in this one!  Beware that there is a huge spoiler if you haven’t read the last book in the Night Huntress series!  But Cat gets the job done here as well.  And some of our favorites from that series make a cameo in this one too, like Marie Laveau. BOUND BY FLAMES is a pulse-pounding, electric and combustible ride! This series just gets better!  This book is SAVAGE, that is probably the best way to describe it. I loved every single minute of it.  If you’re not reading this now, you’re missing out.  If you haven’t read this series yet, you’re missing out.  I can’t wait for more!

I love the Night Prince series and Bound by Flames was no exception, but wow are these books repetitive. So here's my issue with these books. I liked Vlad in the Night Huntress books as a secondary character but in his own series, he's become a tad one-note with the anger issues and burning things. That's his thing which is all well and good but when it becomes his primary reaction, it gets old. But of course it's going to come up because YET AGAIN Leila is kidnapped by the big bad. This has been the basis for three books. Three. Books. It's as if it's all Leila is good for, having some awesome powers and getting captured. And her character has grown on me since Once Burned but I don't get to know her much beyond how she handles capture and torture. Which brings me to the actual story: where was it? Much like the last books, Vlad has an enemy. They want to destroy each other. Cue a few hundred pages of sizing each other up before Leila is taken and Vlad has to save her. The bad guy doesn't have much of an obvious motive. Vlad and Leila have a luke warm romance that seems founded in one saving the other. And these books have slowly drifted downward in my opinion. At least Bound by Flames had more of a balance between the romance and story. By the end, you get SOME closure but still not enough, and these books definitely can't stand on their own which I would have liked. Then again, I do still like this series as a whole, but not nearly as much as the Night Huntress books. With only one book left in the Night Prince series, I just hope something new happens to end the books on a high note.

Leila is now Mrs. Dracula as she is now happily "or sort of" married to Vald. When Vlad's enemies target Leila he knows that she may be safer apart from him. This is one battle that may not be Vlad and Leila may not be able walk away from. When death comes calling even the fires of hell may not keep it at bay. I love this couple so much and the emotions this book envokes it amazing. This is one series that I could read again and again.

lthough, I really enjoyed Bound by Flames, it didn't seem to grab me as much as the previous books in the series did. I'm not saying that it was bad, it was just that I liked her other stories a little more. It took me a little awhile to really get into this book, but by the time I reached the halfway point, I was totally hooked and couldn't put it down. Bound by Flames was filled with all of the good humor and fun dialogue that I have come to expect from Frost's books. This was a tad darker than her other books, but it was believable considering what happened. There were some twists and surprises, as well. I think I was just a little disappointed in Vlad, overall. One of the things that attracted me to his character (in the very beginning), was his sense of loyalty and commitment to the people in his line. While I understand his love for for Leila, it seemed like he was very quick to disregard everyone else he loved and who had depended on him for centuries. It was as if they did not matter, and that did not sit right with me. Not to mention, I did not like how he treated two of his good friends. It just seemed a little uncharacteristic. This is a guy who loves his power and authority. Don't worry, though, he is still one of my favorite MC's. ;) On the other hand, I really grew to like Leila in this story. I found myself rooting for her and hoping she didn't do anything impulsive. She showed so much strength, perseverance, and bravery. I am so happy that there is another book in this series, as there are a couple of things that I am hoping will get resolved. I cannot wait until Into the Fire gets released later this year!

This is the third book in a four book series. Once Burned is the first book in The Night Prince series. These books do need to be read in order. In my previous blog entries about this series, I have had a hard time swallowing Leila, as a real character. What I mean as real is could I actually see this person as being in the real world. For two books she felt fake, at times annoying, and not in the way that made her real to me. I guess, third time is the charm. I like Leila now, she grew from one dimensional to three. Why did it take so long? I have never had a problem not liking a character, like I have with Leila. This book takes place a few months or so since Leila had become a vampire. She and Vlad, have been on the hunt for an enemy from his past, that is out to end Vlad once and for all. This book has several twists and turns, and a whopper of an ending, that made this once planned trilogy become four books. I really enjoyed this book, more so than the first two but that had to do with Leila. This series is connected to The Night Huntress series and world. It can be read alone, but certain characters and plot parts make a bit more sense if you read the Night Huntress Series. If interested, the first book is halfway to the grave.

This was just what i expected from the author and this series. It was a really good book,i hate doing reviews,so this one wont be a big help. I wish that the author would continue writing and am glad that she keeps adding to this and i look forward tobthe next book and hope she can keep it going as well as she has so far. A lot of authors write and after a few books the series gets tiring but in these series and spin off series i find myself waiting for the next book and hoping it will continue.

Bound by Flames is book three in the Night Prince series. This time around, Vlad and Leila are on the hunt for their enemy, Szilagyi. I feel like we get to know Vlad a little bit better this time around. He's always been very guarded but we get to glimpse bits of him we haven't seen before. Anyway, since Vlad's looking for his enemy of old, Leila is staying in the castle so she's not in danger's path. Things quickly get out of hand and the book gets dark, very dark. There are graphic scenes that I know will bother some readers, so know that going in. Extreme violence and torture to name a few. That being said I think JFrost wrote the content very well. Overall, I'm really loving the Night Prince series, and I'm so glad to see this isn't the final book. Book four, Into the Fire, should be released later this year. I strongly urge you to read these books in order, since it won't make much sense otherwise. I recommend this series if you like vampire paranormal romance / urban fantasy.

While it was late coming out I did enjoy it very much. Leila is a character I can really get behind. She doesn't simper and wimper like many female characters. She fights even when she physically can't. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series to see where this wild ride ends.
