In 1952, after twenty-four issues, Lev Gleason Publications decided to change the title of their romance comic BOY MEETS GIRL to BOY LOVES GIRL. The name change also came with a slight change of tone. The characters portrayed were more mature and there were sordid tales of relationships gone bad rather than the challenges of new relationships.
