In ‘Break on Through’ the third in the Rock Royalty series we get the chance to watch as Reed and Cleo fall in love. Once again Ms. Ridgeway brings us Hot and Steamy… The women in Ms. Ridgeway’s stories show us that with the right amount of strength and gentleness you can make any guy rethink their bad boy or in this case loner status. Reed grew up in a compound with eight other kids raised by Gwen a groupie for his father’s band the Velvet Lemons who just happened to be Rock Royalty. Each of these boys had demons to fight and Reed was no different. He chose to fight his on paper ending up being a successful children’s horror story author…reminds me of something along the lines of Goosebumps. He liked his loner status but it was nice when Cleo and her two boys moved next door. Cleo out of an abusive relationship finds that talking to her new neighbor Reed over the fence is nice. The fence adds that little bit of mystery while keeping them so that they don’t actually get too close to each other. It also is kind of cute. I have to admit I did expect Wilson to show up every once in a while. Cleo would put baked items in Reeds mailbox….ahhhhhhhhhhh! Reed liked to keep his distance because of his past he was afraid to fall for Cleo and her boys but fall he did. I think anytime children are involved it just adds that element that pushes you over the top. Ms. Ridgeway made the interaction between the boys and Reed very lifelike adding that extra spark of depth to the story. Cleo just wanted a normal life free of abuse. As a mom she needed to protect her boys and show them that there are good people out there. I once again enjoyed the journey that was Reed and Cleo. It was nice getting to know these two as they took us from conversations over the fence to hot and steamy. I also enjoyed the camaraderie between the boys (big fans of Reed’s books) and Reed. They talked and became friends just as it should happen but sometimes doesn’t. The fence… the baked goods in the mailbox were just little touches that helped bring this fun story to life. Ms. Ridgeway has brought her characters to life filling her story with warmth that keeps the reader captivated and eager to find out what happens next. I am going to grab my tea a settle into to a comfy chair to await the next story.

A Good Book California Rolling Stone magazine once dubbed the nine collective children of the most famous band in the world “Rock Royalty,” years ago. All the princes and princesses are coming back to L.A.’s Laurel Canyon now that they are all grown up. They are also trying to discover if love can be found among the ruins of their childhoods that was steeped in sex, drugs, and rock ‘n roll. Reed Hopkins enjoys his solitary existence as a reclusive novelist. At least until Cleo Anderson who is a single mom and her two kids move in next door. The exasperating woman wants to be neighborly. What he needs is either a mean dog or a better security system. Cleo’s compulsion to make the strong silent man on the other side of the fence smile is one she can’t control. Reed is a magnet to her kids and also to someone that is lonely and is beginning to dream. When trouble arrives at her door Cleo is suddenly afraid she is about to lose more than her heart. This is a good story that fits in nicely with the first two books in the series. There are a few editing problems but once the reader gets past those it is a very good book. The characters are likable and move the story along very well. It will also have readers wanting to read the next book in the series. It is proving to be a fun and an emotionally engrossing series. It is nice to see each of the “Rock Royalty” put their pasts behind them and find a happy future. It is also nice to have past characters make cameo appearance so the reader can see what each one is up to.

Reed is used to being alone, then his neighbor, Cleo, starts bringing him baked goods. Then her two adorable boys come over and makes him feel things he doesn't want to feel. Cleo moved away from her ex-husband because he hurt her and made her boys afraid. Reed is so good with the boys and with her too, but she is afraid to want more. She isn't sure that he will want to give her more.

Conversations over the fence, Reed Hopkins is a night owl, writing his horror stories for children, resulting in his ‘rock royalty’ family referring to him as a vampire. Cleo Anderson and her boys have recently moved into the house next door and she has taken to leaving Reed baked goods in his mailbox, Reed has taken to holding conversations with Cleo over the fence in the back yard. They haven’t actually met, until one day he overhears her boys in trouble and he rushes out to help but ends up scaring them badly. Cleo has to bring her boys over to see their ‘monster’ is just a nice man and … well, wow!! They get to know one another, Reed interacts more and more with the boys. But he knows he isn’t cut out for the long term.. yet… Christie Ridgeway writes a good story, this third in her Rock Royalty Series is a touching book and a great read. Reed and Cleo are a bit more down to earth, I think you will enjoy this one

This was the 3rd tale in the Rock Royalty series- romance stories about the children of the fictional rock band the Velvet Lemons. In this story, novelist Reed Hopkins (the so-called "prince of darkness") gets his chance at love with single mother Cleo Anderson. This book seemed a bit more tame than the previous books in the series, but I did enjoy the word play/"eggcorns." Thanks to CR's California Girls for the copy of this book.

Ms. Ridgway took an interesting approach with Break On Through. Reed and Cleo are different as night and day. Reed is a pessimist who has shut himself off from the outside world after a tragedy. He lives vicariously through the stories he writes not letting in the opportunity for more pain. Cleo has endured her own share of hard knocks. A single mother seeking a chance to start fresh and create a better environment for her children, she plays the hand life dealt her with optimism. I found it funny that she managed to weaken the walls of Reed's heart but her children were who broke right through it. Along the way each learns that in order to find the bright side you have to face the dark alleys.

Reed is the complex dark prince of the "Rock Royalty". His nocturnal habits and authorship of "children's horror" novels help him escape the dysfunction of his childhood and demons. The new closeness of the "Rock Royalty" and a new neighbor (Cleo) and her two small boys begin to test his self imposed boundaries and weave their magick of love and togetherness as he struggles to accept his worthiness! This is a remarkable story of two people's journey to love, passion and self discovery! Another exceptional chapter in the lives of the "Rock Royalty"

Solitary, moody writer meets lighthearted single mom. This is Reed Hopkins’ story, book #3 in the Rock Royalty series. Reed is one of the nine progeny of the rock band, Velvet Lemons, a group of kids that grew up without any rules, supervision or love. Hopes for a real life with a solid relationship have never been in any of their minds, especially Reed’s. He was ‘rescued’ by a Grandfather only to be thrown into a military school that did nothing but give him fodder for his future job as a horror writer of children’s fiction. Reed stays to himself and writes to try and keep the nightmares at bay, especially the one of the boy he was unable to save. His writing schedule is disrupted by the presence of Cleo Anderson, single mom to two adorable, rambunctious boys. Despite himself, Reed can’t manage to stay away from Cleo. She seems to have a calming effect on his dreams and it has thrown his world awry. Suddenly, he has boys climbing into his tree house in his front yard, fresh baked cookies in his mailbox, and a need to defend his neighbors from zombies at Halloween. Cleo is funny and pure and trying to find herself again after leaving behind a marriage that failed and an ex who could be dangerous to her and her kids. She is completely attracted to Reed but knows he’s not the ‘forever’ type of guy. Attraction goes both ways, however, and soon the heat between the two overcomes either’s better intentions. Passion ensues and decisions must be made, is there a chance for Cleo to find a hea with this man or will he be lost to his nightmares and walled off to everyone forever?
