Oh my, so much valuable information and shared with a heart of love and compassion for all of us to truly reclaim the PEACE God promises. Never going back to fear as a way of life but I will enjoy my life with Jesus without worry, anxiety and fear! No enemy, NO MORE! This book so touched my heart because I was one who dealt with fear for 40 years and still struggle a bit. I appreciate how Dr. Michelle explains the meaning of worry, anxiety and fear and I found very important and valuable nuggets (truths) that I want to share with others. All the scriptures and songs had me worshiping the Lord as I read. I want all my friends to read this book as we all deal with worry, anxiety and fear. I see my life so much in this amazing book for I have overcome the control of fear and now I’ve learned even more how to stay in the peace God promises after reading 'Breaking Anxiety's Grip'. So thankful to Dr. Michelle for her obedience to the Lord in sharing her story as well as others' stories for me.

I just finished this book and it is the most powerful book I've ever read. It is written in plain everyday language that anyone could understand. I could feel the power of God as I was reading this book. I wish I had this book years ago, but it's never to late to turn your life around. This is a life changing book. Thank you Dr. Michelle Bengtson for writing this book to help everybody get the peace that only God can give.

I have read Dr. Bengtson's first 2 books, Hope Prevails and Hope Prevails Bible Study, and Breaking Anxiety's Grip: How to Reclaim the Peace God Promises, is just as amazing and helpful. I believe that God led Michelle to write this book at the perfect time! With all of the tragic events happening in our Country, and even in our own home towns, this book is the perfect book to help us deal with worry, fear, and anxiety! Packed with Scripture and Biblical wisdom, Dr. Michelle shows us through her own experiences how to walk through the storms of life, and the tragic events without allowing the enemy to steal our peace! She also shares the stories of several others who have dealt with worry, fear or anxiety, so there is something in this book for everyone! At the end of each chapter you will find "Your Rx," which has questions that take you deeper into the study and scripture. "My Prayer for You," Dr. Bengtson has written heart-felt, beautiful prayers for her readers. "A Recommended Playlist," Worship and Praise songs that Michelle recommends from her own personal journey.  I have taken so many notes in my journal and highlighted so many areas of the book. One of my favorite quotes from the book is near the beginning, "Trusting God means acknowledging that he is in control. We can remain content in that knowledge rather than striving in our own strength. When we trust God, we relinquish control while telling God, I believe your way is best - whatever that may be." I highly recommend this book for anyone who struggles with worry, fear or anxiety! Even if you don't, we all know someone who does, and I would suggest you get them a copy of this book! I have a family member who is suffering from anxiety right now, and I can't wait to get a copy of this book in her hands! This is a book I will definitely be re-reading because there is so much good that I know I will miss something on the first read!

In her newest book, “Breaking Anxiety’s Grip”, Dr. Michelle Bengtson addresses what she has called “the common cold in mental health” – our daily struggles with worry, fear, and anxiety. As a reader of her first two books, “Hope Prevails” and “Hope Prevails Bible Study”, I knew that Dr. Bengtson was knowledgeable in her field of neuropsychology. I also knew that she was able to relate to her readers personally, making each of us feel as if she were walking beside us as she provided sound advice and Biblical truth. I was delighted to see that she again walked with me as she shared of the truths she has discovered that can help to free me and others who have struggled with the “what ifs” in life that steal our peace. In “Breaking Anxiety’s Grip” Dr. Bengtson again shares her story and ways she has been able to break free from the thought patterns of worry, fear, and anxiety and find God’s peace. She has also invited others to share their stories with us. I am sure that there is a relatable story in this book for everyone. My favorite “take away” statement from the book was this: “As I prayed for God’s joy and peace to consume me, I realized the truth of Scripture that God is our peace. Peace is not a thing; peace is a person.” (Chapter 8, Breaking Anxiety’s Grip) You will want to read this book. It will help you reclaim your peace!

I don't normally review books before I finish them; this is only the second time I've done it. I am reading an Advanced Copy of this book, Breaking Anxiety's Grip, and it is just too good not to share. I have suffered with anxiety for most of my life, probably about the last 35 years. My daughter also suffers from anxiety in a much worse way than me. This book is giving me so much hope for both of us. This book reminds me that God is here, with me and my daughter. We are not alone. And with God all things are possible. I could say so much but I really want to get back to reading. I will come back and expand on this review once I finish the book. But please trust me when I say that if you or someone you know suffers from anxiety you and they need this book. It's amazing, it really is. I just finished the book and, wow, it's just amazing! The author shares her own experiences and it is so easy to see where she could've completely given up and even doubted God. Her experiences show me that she knows what she is talking about, because she has been through so much...just like the rest of us. I truly beleive that people who really read this book, I mean really take in what it says...lives can be changed. God has spoken through the author, Michelle, and we just to listen, trust, obey and let go of all that is wearing us down.

Yet the battle against anxiety is one we all experience at one time or another in our lives. So how does one break the grip of anxiety? Anxiety and stress are real factors in today's world. Dr Bengston brings her knowledge as a neuropsychologist, and offers God's word to help us overcome the stressors that we may incur. No need to stay stuck in that place that zaps energy to become numb and tired. This has been an excellant help to me and it will help so many others. This book will be on my desk and shelf near by for future reference!

This is unlike any other book you have read on anxiety. Dr. Michelle marries the science and clinical experience of her degree in neuropsychology along with the Word of God to bring the reader to the foot of the cross where they meet the chain-breaking Creator. He is ready to break those chains of anxiety, worry or fear. The scriptures and techniques could be applied to any stronghold you face. This is an easy read, yet has sustenance. The tools in this book are tangible! You want to read this book!

This book is filled with so much insight and practical information. The fact that it addresses the spiritual component of anxiety and fear is what sets it apart from other books about the same subject matter. There is much wisdom between its pages. It is a "must read."

Part of my work, or better say, most of my work involves working with people, and that includes dealing with personal matters. These last years I’ve seen a dramatically increment at people, mostly youth people, dealing with anxiety. It was a blessing to see someone tackle on this issue from a Christian perspective. Breaking Anxiety’s Grip is an easy to understand reading for those struggling with fear, panic or anxiety. It starts with the medical part of it, giving some background and useful information for everyone to really get how does our brains and bodies work, then Dr. Bengtson shares daily examples from her own and some patients to give us a clear picture on how anxiety and fear can be intimidating but also on how to deal with them. I admire Dr. Bengtson not only for being vulnerable to share her personal and family experiences, but also for her standing on the Scriptures as an answer to this problem. To recognize God’s truth in the middle of any situation is the key and the difference between responding out of fear or faith. I’d recommend this book to anyone dealing with anxiety or to anyone, like me, that want to have a better understanding on this issue, even more if you have people close to you. Because Anxiety doesn't come from God but he does want to help you through it. I picked this book up because for as long as I can remember I have moments where I've dealt with Anxiety and most things had worked but only for a season. This book armed with scripture and even songs for different types of Anxiety. Not every chapter in this book is going to be for everyone. But with the set up of this book, the reader can pick and choose which chapters are best for them. However, this book shouldn't be used to replace professional help for your Anxiety. I received a copy of this book from the publisher a part of a blog tour. I was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine alone.

If you struggle with overwhelming worry and anxiety, Breaking Anxiety’s Grip by Dr. Michelle Bengtson is a book you need to read. It is filled with Bible-based wisdom regarding how to overcome feelings of anxiety using the power that God has given to each of us. The subtitle, “How to Reclaim the Peace God Promises” is key, as God’s peace is the ultimate anecdote to anxiety. The author shares many several personal experiences with her own feelings of worry. A significant source of her anxiety stems understandably from her husband’s cancer diagnosis. Dr. Bengston is in a unique position as a board-certified neuropsychologist in that she has the professional training and experience to help others with their mental health problems. However, even with her extensive head knowledge about mental health, Dr. Bengston is not immune to the worry that can creep in when a crises hits. It is this vulnerability that makes this book feel authentic and helpful. Breaking Anxiety’s Grip is filled with Bible verses that are a great reminder to us of God’s faithfulness through all of life’s circumstances. This book is a valuable read because it offers pragmatic ways to gird our faith in God’s plan and to equip us with strategies to fight back against anxious thoughts.

This book was very unique, excellent writing and compelling to read with that also had an encourage, spiriting and guide you to finding peace and set us free when you have feeling worry, anxiety, emotionally and physically full of fear with all any course that make you suffering from financial, relationship, stress from timing with living life in the fast word and hi technology. This book will provide and help you to maintains your pace and trust in God and his love you always with you. A powerful formula for letting go of anxiety, fear, and worry Dr. Michelle Bengtson’s latest book speaks to a rampant facet of today’s society. How many of us succumb to worry, fear, and anxiety over life’s speedbumps? I dare to say anyone who’s human has room for improvement in this arena. With great insight, examples, explanations, and action plans, Dr. Bengtson lays the framework for the old adage “letting go and letting God.” As Dr. Bengston describes, our responses to life’s curveballs are choices. She has laid out an alternative path that requires letting go of control, saying ‘no’ to fear and worry, and praying, among others. These steps lead to greater reliance on God, and ultimately the peace we all yearn to have. However, the truth of the matter is these words on paper (or in cyberspace) are only meaningful if we truly take them to heart and choose different responses during challenging times. Breaking Anxiety’s Grip is as much about God as anxiety. He is the answer – literally. Dr. Bengtson sprinkles inspirational tidbits throughout – such as, “God is trustworthy”, “God’s love is good no matter what”, and “Prayer is the most powerful gift we can offer others and ourselves”. How this book affected me: I would say my overall anxiety level is generally low-to-medium, especially since my semi-retirement. :) I chose to read this book because I felt it was a relevant topic for today’s harried society. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that everything Dr. Bengtson wrote was applicable to whatever level of anxiety, fear, or worry the reader faces. There were many great lessons and examples included that reminded me to hand everything over to God and just trust Him. 4.5/5 stars. Thanks to Revell, a division of Baker Publishing Group, for sending me this book to review. I made it 50 pages in and just can't continue to read. I thought the title was interesting and likely pertinent to my own life and that of my patient's lives. Many people suffer anxiety, worry, and panic that can turn their "ideas/thoughts/worries" into physical symptoms: dizziness heart racing, increased work of breathing, sweating. So I am always interested in seeing what other trained experts, such as the author Michelle Bengtson who is a neuropsychologist think. However, this book fell very short for me. I'm just not in the same place with my faith as the author is. She has a different idea on how to treat anxiety. One that I don't feel comfortable utilizing in my own care of patients with panic and anxiety attacks. For instance, she writes, " to gain freedom from worry, anxiety and fear, we must shift the responsibility for all outcomes to God." (pg 44). Alas I'm just not in the same line of thinking nor feel comfortable suggesting that treatment/care plan to my patients. Not the right book for me.

You know it’s a great book when… … you immediately think of other friends or family members who would benefit from reading it. …you have to stop reading and find someone to share what you’ve just read.
 …you need to sit and absorb something you read, letting it seep into the deepest part of you. Breaking Anxiety’s Grip is one of the best books I’ve read on the subject of anxiety. Dr. Michelle Bengtson does not just give you a bunch of facts with verses tucked in between. She opens the door to her life letting understand the truths she shares are those she is applying to her life as well. \ Though she is a Neurological Psychologist, she uses terms we can all understand. And the stories of others she tucks inside each chapter are an added bonus. I especially enjoyed how she clearly broke down the definitions of fears, worry and anxiety. And how she explained “God doesn’t give us peace, He IS peace!” I love this book, but my biggest takeaway is the fact we have choices. We can choose to let our worries consume us, or we can bravely turn them over to God. And the more we saturate ourselves in God’s Word, the more we’ll be able to change our actions which will result in changed behaviors as well as changed thinking. I highly recommend this book. Dr. Michelle Bengtson, thank you for writing a book that will help me as well as so many others.

Dr. Michelle Bengtson writes a compelling book that exceeds one's expectation. For the person struggling with worry, fear or anxiety, this book will give a roadmap to how to break the cycle of anxiety, fear, and or worry. This book is a page turner and I finished reading this 5 star book on worry, fear, and anxiety. It is an excellent book that I didn’t want to end. Dr. Michelle Bengtson uses her own personal experiences, and those of many women to encourage the reader overcome worry, fear and anxiety. Some of the quotes that really spoke to me are: “ In direct opposition to worry, anxiety, and fear is peace. It’s physiologically impossible to be relaxed (at peace) and anxious at the same time. When we entertain worry, anxiety, and fear, we sacrifice our peace.” “Fear, anxiety, stress, and worry are the enemy’s tools to keep us in bondage. But fear is NOT our portion! God desires for us to experience his peace.” “Anxiety is one of the most prevalent mental health disorders.” “Anxiety is more common in women” “ Anxiety starts out small and inconsequential but left untreated it takes on a life of its own.” At the end of each chapter is a prescription an RX. These prescription assist the reader to claim God’s peace. Please join me in buying a copy of this well-written book on how to overcome worry, fear, and anxiety.

God presented this book to me at a time where worry and anxiety were playing a huge role in my life. I knew this book would be different from the typical self help books because of the spiritual side it offered. Dr. Michelle weaves in scripture that makes you truly understand God's will for you is peace. You will want to read this book over and over again for the wonderful advice and scripture passages! Truly a gem if you ever needed help with worry or anxiety!

This is such an incredibly needed book & is so very rich in Holy Scripture's!!! I am having a good challenge in deciding what to share in my review? Thank you Michelle for listening to the voice of the Holy Spirit in writing this book as I am stilling myself to hear that still small voice as to what I shall share?!!! Please do yourself a favor and do not miss the opportunity to free yourself and others from Anxiety’s Grip. Breaking Anxiety's Grip Chapter 3: You talk about your first memory of fear. As I reflect I realize fear and anxiety are such a given in life that it is almost as though while reading your book I do not remember a time they were not present how sad is this? So I think for myself to really just allow the that fact of recognizing fear, and anxiety so I can claim freedom would be a perfect starting place! Also the never ending guilt when I recognize them and attempt to seek freedom Michelle Bengtson · Marie Bride I think a key here is recognizing where that guilt is coming from. The enemy doesn’t play fair. First he tempts us (with worry or whatever) then he shames and guilt's us for giving into him. Chapter 10: Live in His Love through remembering: What a challenge! To remember embrace and put into actions the unfathomable Love Christ Jesus has for us! It truly is beyond our ability to understand. And that being said thus we fall short our thought’s start dwelling there and the evil one attacks us in our weak spots with the fear, anxiety etc. Chapter 11: Living in Peace: Now were talking like so many are afraid to talk about how the evil one attacks us but if we are truly in the frame of mind understanding Christ’s perfect Love we have to acknowledge the whole reason is because the evil one exists and attacks we have to cling to Christ as He is the only hope!

I love how Dr. Michelle acknowledges the physical aspects of anxiety, but gives us so many Biblical tools to combat it. With real life stories and lots of scripture, you will really feel well armed in the fight against anxiety. Highly recommend.

I’m a worrier and have dealt with anxiety since I was a teen. I’m 50 now and I wish I had had Breaking Anxiety’s Grip back then! Dr. Bengtson has written a gem of a book. The examples she shares are so relatable to me and her solutions are so good. I love the RX at the end of each chapter. Scriptures to write and memorize relation to fear, anxiety and worry. I’ve also made playlists of the worship songs she has shared in each chapter. I’m in a stressful time of life right now and these things truly have helped me. I’m ordering a few copies for friends and family. I would highly recommend this book to anyone experiencing fear, worry and/or anxiety.

I could not put this book down! It's the book I wish I'd had while managing PTSD. At times I still struggle with anxiety and this book is such an encouragement. Not only does Dr. Michelle Bengston tackle the emotional and physical aspects of anxiety, but she addresses the spiritual component as well. I particularly enjoy the RX section at the end of each chapter as it helps me reframe my thinking within a Biblical context. This book is a must-read for anyone who longs to be released from the painful experience of living with anxiety. I cannot recommend it enough!

I joined her launch team to read this book, because I wanted to learn how to fight back when anxiety, and worry rear their ugly heads. I wanted to learned to identify when these lies try to steal my peace. And near the end of her book, she writes "This is exactly what we’ve discussed throughout this book. When the spirit of fear comes to taunt and haunt us, we can choose to refute his lies with God’s truth. Then we can maintain our peace because we trust God to be true to his Word." Words that gave me my answers.

As a believer in God, it is important for me to include scripture as part of my healing process. This book combines the struggle with anxiety and the healing words of God. Dr. Bengston helps combine the symptoms and struggle of living with anxiety and biblical knowledge. Every chapter is filled with hope from the bible and passages to heal our daily struggle. This is a must read for anyone struggling with anxiety.
