Jane is struggling to make her career a reality. As the brains behind a successful social media influencer, she spends all her energy trying to please her self-absorbed boss. Things are just as stressful in her personal life. Her fiance has a change of heart on the night of her hen party, crushing Jane's dreams for happily-ever-after. Luckily, she has her flatmate and best friend Freddie to help her keep her life on track. The two share nearly everything. Too bad they're only friends. Meanwhile wedding bells are ringing for Jane's bestie, Rach. A little secret about her friend's not-so-devoted future hubby spoils Jane's enthusiasm for the big day. Jane puts her animosity aside and assumes her position as a bridesmaid along with Rach's childhood friends. But all is not rosy with the ladies. Maddie and Sally are in love with the same guy, and their other friend Beth is a new mum with a mystery man. Will Jane remain tight-lipped or will she spill the beans and risk ruining her best friend's magical wedding day? Bridesmaids is a hilarious take on the drama and heartache associated with a close group of childhood friends. The witty repartee and comical scenes make this delightful read fun and flirty. The best part is the sweet relationship between Jane and Freddie. This is my first book by this author, and it won't be my last. Stoneley is a gifted writer who knows how to deliver a highly entertaining read.
4.5 Stars! Hilarious, romantic, and highly entertaining! Bridesmaids is a spirited, deliciously scandalous tale that takes us into the life of Jane and some of her mates from school as the preparations for the upcoming nuptials of one of their own will cause revelations to be revealed, secrets to be exposed, and true love to be found. The writing is witty and light. The characters are quirky, vibrant, and endearing. And the plot is an engaging, funny tale full of secrets, misgivings, friendship, chemistry, humorous mishaps, tricky moments, awkward situations, romantic drama, and self-reflection. Overall, Bridesmaids is an uplifting, comical, refreshing read by Stoneley that I think would be perfect for fans of chaotically charming, contemporary romance novels.
This book was witty, charming and just plain fun! It has the feel of Bridget Jones Diary to me. There were times I literally giggled while reading it. The main character was great, as were many of the friends. They were people I would love to hang out with!
4.5 STARS Bridesmaids is a funny story about friendship and love! I knew right from the first chapter this was going to be a book I enjoyed. Jane is absolutely hilarious. It begins she says with a lie she told her best friend, Rachel. You see, Rachel, is getting married, and Jane isn’t really about marriage these days. Her ex-fiance dumped her by text while she was at her hen party. However, she adores Rachel, so she decides to keep her honest opinion to herself even though Jane isn’t Rachel’s fiance’s biggest fan AT ALL!!! This is the beginning of a book full of humor, love, friendship, and secrets...and maybe betrayal! It culminates in the best ending I have come across in quite a while. Jane, Rachel, Sally, Beth, and Maddie have been friends since they were young. Life has taken them all in different directions except Jane and Rachel. They have remained close. Each woman is very different. Rachel is the sweetheart! She has the biggest heart, forgiving others for the wrongs they have done. Beth is a single mother who is hiding a GIGANTIC secret. She won’t divulge who the father is. Maddie thought she had her life planned out when she was young, but she discovers she doesn’t. Sally is the one who has to be in control, and by the way, Maddie and Sally are in love with the same man. He is married to one of them. As you can imagine, this is a book filled with drama, yet there is also quite a bit of laughter as well. Our heroine, Jane, is the one who holds these women together. She has a problem of her own...she may be falling for her flatmate. All your questions will be answered, and all their secrets will be revealed. Read on to find out how it all pans out! Not only is this a romantic comedy, but it’s about friendship and how it changes over the years. These women knew each other like no one else when they were young, and now, each have their own secrets they are keeping from one another. Can they find that special bond between them again? This is a gem of a book about love, the changes life throws at you, and lasting friendship!!!!
A fabulous, light-hearted read with plenty of high and lows; I've giggled my way through this one! The very last thing Jane wants to do is attend a wedding. When her very best friend, Rachel, announces she is getting married to the man she broke up and whom Jane knows is a cheating liar, she sticks a smile on her face and agrees to be chief bridesmaid, despite her own planned wedding turning out to be a non-event. Along with Sally and Maddie, they all vow to make Rachel's day the best it can be - but both these two are in love with Jack, and one of them is his wife. And then there's Beth .. with her young son in tow and no-one knowing who the baby daddy is. What can possibly go wrong? This novel has it all. Sadness, happiness and everything in between. It's the kind of read where you find yourself egging on various characters several times over until they actually do what you want! I have, once again, got a very bemused husband as I have spluttered and chuckled repeatedly. It's a well-thought out story, well-written and with many lively characters - all entertaining in their own way; I have loved everything about it. Most definitely a book to brighten your day, and fully deserving of a full house of bright, sparkling stars!
