I love this author and have read all of the Bubba series! There is comedy, family relationships, mystery and all over good times. Brownie in this story reminds me of about every boy I every met- mischievious, can find trouble without even trying, but tries very hard to behave. Start with BUBBA AND THE DEAD WOMAN and you won't go wrong!

Brownie is back for spring break, and he has been severely restricted. Miz Demetrice has taken away the sharpies and all of his good "toys", but you know Brownie. Nothing stops that boy from causing trouble. In this novella, he has a 'partner' sharing in the mischief. There are mysteries to solve and Brownie and the Dame are on the job. I have to admit, they cause less trouble than before, but Brownie is still someone to watch. I enjoyed the novella, it was a quick read. I burst out laughing a few times. It didn't take me long to figure out who the villain was, but that's okay, it was a fun read. It definitely helps to read all the books in the series, in order. I can't wait for Bubba #4. This has to be my all time favorite cozy mystery series. Keep them coming, Ms. Bevill, pleeeese!

A very nice addition to the Bubba series. Short but sweet and a lovely treat while we wait for the next Bubba adventure. Hopefully without having to spend time in the hoosegow, that part of the otherwise enjoyable series is just a bit too repetative.

‘An addition to her Bubba series’. It is absolutely charming. Detective Brownie plays Sam Spade. A short read with good flow.

I have fallen in love with Bubba and all of his maniacal relatives/friends! I cannot wait for the next book. This particular novella was a quick read that had me laughing outloud. Many of the students in my classroom remind me of Brownie. Other than the occassional typo erros I have no complaints. I enthusiastically recommend this book.

Cute but not enough Bubba and Willowdean. The Bubba books are great kind of remind me of Joan Hess. Iwill definitely get the next one hope it is longer

I was not sure about this book at first but quickly discovered it was as good as the rest. I so look forward to reading all of her books.

Loved the storyline. Loved the characters. Best editing I've ever seen in an ebook.

A nice short filler between books three and four (since the first three books give more depth to the "other" characters, and explain some of the "reasons" behind adult actions in this read)- a little more childish (and Brownie is still a little over the top for me) but some of the language is not child appropriate. Overall a cute version of Bubba and Willodean (in a smarter and/or tougher, but younger persona). Definitely worth the short read.

I started with "Bubba & The Dead Woman" & have been going through series. I enjoy the poke fun of southerners & humor in Bevill's stories, kinda sitcom type humor. The slang she has coming out of our mouths is a little over the top, but that's what makes it funny. I've lived in Texas almost 60 yrs & never heard the term "ifin" or carp instead of crap. Still the stories are well written & thought out. I bet this woman is a hoot at parties. Anyway, if you have a southern sense of humor, enjoy a little who-dunit mystery, & appreciate a lack of profanity, you'll probably like this series.
