It takes awhile before you are sure where the threat is going to be coming from and you may get a bit impatient, but in the long haul, it's another good entry into this dog loving series. The mystery was a bit far fetched, but to be honest, half the true crimes you hear about are often just as weird as this one is. You aren't completely sure who the culprit is although you have a good idea that it's within a group, just not who in the group and why. I enjoyed having Holly's step mother in this one a bit more. She's a fun character and of course the dogs are like family now. I enjoyed it as I usually do. As always, the dogs are the most sane in the bunch.

I love to read and I love dogs so all a book has to have a is a dog in it and I am interested. As a result I have every one of her earlier dog mysteries and I used to check monthly to see if a new one was being published. All I saw were some cat mysteries written with her daughter, so I was surprised and excited that she finally brought Holly out in a new book. The voice of the book seemed different and it was not up to par. It just wasn't the same, I actually felt like was written by someone else.

Susan Conant is a good writer and has never written a bad book. Brute Strength lives up to the standard she set with her 1st.
