Harper Wilson and all her siblings were relieved when they received the notice of their parents' demise. No one deserved it more, and the only reason Harper agreed to go back to that little town in Ohio was to make sure they were truly dead.

Bryant Prince and his family were immortals and hadn't aged since they'd reached the age of twenty-eight. He and his family had always lived next door to the Wilsons, but he never knew the Wilson children. The Wilsons had always kept to themselves, so no one had any idea what was going on in the little house of horrors. If they had, the Wilson parents would have been dead a long time ago.

There was nothing left of the Wilson house but one wall. The fire had taken the rest. The garage, however, was still intact, and this was where Harper wound up. Drawn in by dark, morbid memories from her childhood. Bryant watched her, knowing that he'd found his mate.

I usually read everything from Ms. Barton and love it, this book however is not up to her usual quality of work. Its all over the place and disjointed, I would have either wished for a longer than her 139 pages or possibly beta readers who could have pointed out the flaws in her storyline that caused it to be really confusing. I would hope she sees this and corrects the problems before launching the next book.

For the Wilson siblings, no better news could come to them than that their parents were dead. After growing up the way they did they vowed to never return to the little Ohio town they grew up in. However, Harper (the youngest) is determined to make sure that their parents are gone for good. The Prince family aren't your typical shifters. They were first black tigers that were later given the ability to turn human. Being immortals they've seen and discovered the worst of humans, but the Wilson parents and the way they treated their kids almost take the cake. When Harper Wilson returns to the "House of Horrors" Bryant knows he's found his mate. But what's he to give a woman like her when he barely has enough to help his family survive to the next month? I think what I like most about this book (and I'm guessing the series) is that even though the Prince family is immortal and seen the worst that human's have to offer, they still no matter what don't let it affect them or take these horrid actions to heart. The Prince family was first created by the Lady of the Earth as her special creatures with no ill will, only kindness to be spread. What I wish would've been included in the story was more about the reasoning behind the character names. For Fisher to tells his reasoning, but not Bryant when it's his book was a bit disappointing.
