Burn in Hail (Hail Raisers Series #3) by Lani Lynn Vale

One look at the sixteen-year-old, prim and proper town goody-two-shoes, Hennessy Hanes, and Tate Casey knows he's in trouble. He knows he should stay away from the preacher's daughter, but there's something about her he's drawn to, and he can't resist the pull.

The more he gets to know her, the more he realizes that something isn't right. He may not be able put his finger on what it is, but he's determined to find out what's going on with the girl with the haunted eyes.

Tate didn't anticipate that someone else would be just as determined to keep Hennessy's nightmare a secret, and he never realizes just how far that person is willing go to keep those skeletons in the closet until it's too late.

With the very real threat of jail time hanging over his head, Tate leaves without a backwards glance at the town or the girl. The problem is that out-of-sight doesn't necessarily mean out of mind, and it's Tate who's now haunted by his decision and memories of Hennessy.

***

Hennessy Hanes knows better than anyone not everything is always as it appears to be. After years of being on the receiving end of her squeaky-clean preacher father's abuse, she seizes an opportunity to leave it all behind and runs.

Her only regret is that in walking away she loses any chance with the one person who tried to save her.

***

Fast forward ten years, and they're both back where they started.

Tate was never a good boy, and it turns out that the man he's now grown into isn't all that much better. Anger is a living, breathing part of him, and there's a court order forcing him to seek help from the one person he's never forgotten.

Hennessy never thought she'd see Tate Casey again, and certainly not on her couch. But now it's her turn to save him, and there are rules she must follow as his psychologist, not to mention a court order instructing her to help him manage his anger. If she doesn't follow those rules, he'll end up back in jail.

Tate Casey has never been a man who followed the rules, and Hennessy is no longer the straight-laced, timid preacher's daughter she once was.

His hands may be tied, so it looks like for the first time in Hennessy's life, she'll be the one breaking the rules for the chance to finally get what she's always wanted. Him.

I usually love this author but this book missed it's mark for me. I felt the pacing was to fast & the story line just didn't work for me. The do as I say not as I do father, the ex girlfriends secret, her crossing the moral line & the rush ending to resolve the father problem felt forced. The editing was really bad. I cringed every time I read a typo. On the positive side this author has a way with words that can keep a reader interested. I did look forward to the next story in the series & I hope it has a better story line than this one.

I love this series, but this one felt really rushed. Typos galore and the abrupt ending took me by surprise.

I love her books and this series but wow was this book written by someone else? Typos everywhere and it read more like a hurried afterthought than a real novel. This is the first time that this author has dissappointed me wish I hadn't read it.

This was my favorite so far. Loved the story and ..... well I feel like I'd spoil certain parts if i went any further. I also really enjoy how the stories end... i feel there is notbung unanswered.

Her series are off the charts. Her characters in all her books interact beautifully.

I LOVE Lani Lynn Vale! I never get tired I her books but this one had so many grammatical errors and misspelled words that it kept bringing me out of the story in irritation. Then it just abruptly ends, kind of like “oh, that happened, so ok, let’s rush off now!” I really enjoyed the book and think it had the potential to be one of my favorites but I just couldn’t get on board with this one.

This is the story of Tate and Hennessy, book 3 of the Hail Raisers.  The Hail Raisers is a group of men that are employees of a Repo Company owned by the Hail Brothers.  They are loosely associated with the other series written by this author.  Each book, as well as each series, can be read as a stand alone, but are much better when you have already immersed yourself in the other series. Although Tate and Hennessy know each other from their childhood, circumstances prevent them getting to know each other more than in passing.  Tate has always been a bad boy, in every sense of the word.  He has just been released from prison and is seeing Hennessy as a condition of his parole.  Hennessy is the only daughter of a preacher in their small town.  She is quiet, reserved, and friendly.  From the outside, her life seems picture perfect.  But everything is not as it seems to be.  There is undeniable chemistry between the two, but they try to ignore it, each for their own reasons.  As the story unfolds, things come to light that throw them together, and make it impossible to ignore any longer.  Together they bring out the best in each other, and fight to make their lives everything they know it could be. This story is heartbreaking at times, but there are just as many times where I couldn’t contain my laughter.  The description is enough that I could picture myself there as the action was unfolding.  And it was HOT!  Definitely got my heart racing!  As with all of Lani Lynn Vale’s books, the story flowed well, and there was enough action to keep it moving, but didn’t overshadow the romance between Hennessy and Tate.

I love all Lani Lynn Vale's books, but the misspelled words and general errors are really annoying. This book seems to be the worst yet.

Early release from prison required anger control management. That was bad enough. Did they have to assign the one woman he'd wanted since she was too young for him? Tate would attend. He'd follow the rules--outwardly. At least the scenery would be good. He had his job back, repossessing cars and some construction on the side. The money was good. Danger didn't scare him. Hennessy made a daily vow to be professional. He needed help, although she couldn't fault him for why he'd been in jail. She'd do her job. She would. So what if she upped her wardrobe on his appointment day. She didn't expect them to become closer or for him to learn the nightmare her life had been. She didn't think she'd ignore the rules. Guess she hadn't realized just how much they'd wanted each other. This was another great read. Tate may be the town bad boy, but she knew differently. His mother's reputation sullied him. His incarceration saved someone's life. The rumors were far from true. The man who deserved a rep was thought to be beyond reproach. Right. She knew better. Despite the reputation, she couldn't resist him. He got what he wanted and he wanted her. Now what? These two have so much against them. Watching them overcome the small town, the baggage they both carry, and the courage and growth makes for a good read. They are steamy together. Her language compared to his is a hoot. The ending and the person to step in will bring another smile. Good reading and a recommendation for this and the whole series. Reviewed for Words Turn Me On.

I love this author. However, this book could have been edited better by my 10 year old. Slow down when editing. The first 3 chapters were the worst
