Busted by Karen Barefoot

Imagine finding a treasure map. A note at the top says, "The journey will be difficult, but I promise you, the treasure at the end will be well worth the trip. Love, God".
You're excited at first, but as you begin studying the map, you find clues like "Defective Parts Recall - Breast Overhaul", "Chemical Warfare Ahead", "Going Under... the knife, sedation, the skin".
That's how it felt when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. All of a sudden, I was living my own version of Survivor! Feeling clueless, I simply walked the path He had laid out for me while keeping my eyes on the prize, Jesus Christ. Along the way, He continually surprised me with fresh insights, blessings at every turn, and a growing intimacy that's indescribable! At the end, X marked the spot: the priceless treasure of a deeper, abiding relationship with Christ and joy unspeakable! I discovered the priceless gem of Genesis 15:1: "I am your shield, your very great reward." Plus, I received a bonus; I now have my very own new treasure chest!
I invite you to come along on my treasure hunt. I'll keep you abreast of my uplifting adventure as we follow God's 'treasure map' in this serious, yet light-hearted book. Proverbs 17:22 says, "A cheerful heart is good medicine". I hope that if you're going through your own cancer experience, you will come away with a more cheerful heart, renewed hope, and encouragement for your future.
Lover of the Lord, Servant of God, Loving Wife, Proud Mom and Adoring Grammy describe Karen Barefoot, in that order. She and her husband, Don, live in Oak Ridge, NC, where they are blessed to serve Christ in a variety of different roles.

I just had to write a review on this awesome book written by a breast cancer survivor with the heart of Christ and the sense of humor of a comedian!!! Touching, funny and wonderfully written. I have given it to many upon being diagnosed with breast cancer but all will enjoy the authors writing style. An A+++!!! Buy more than one as you'll want to share it with many others!!

The author really knows how to make a time of trouble one of laughter, joy and hope. I thought I would never stop chuckling and thought about the truths of this book long after reading it. I purchased many more to spread the mirth and to let others know that breast cancer can be BUSTED with laughter. Karen really points to the One who gave us this ability to laugh and tells how He held her hands every step of the way!

Karen's humorous style is balanced with complete honesty about what it is like to have your life interrupted by cancer. This book is both realistic and inspiring. Best of all is how Karen demonstrates how faith can actually grow in the midst of suffering through cancer. This is an excellent book.

I,to this day, am amazed at the courage and the unshakable faith that this book shows Karen has. I know that breast cancer may not be the thing that alters the rest of my life but, through this reading I see where I will go when my day or days of testing come...and I know they will come. Thank you for living out your faith in such great times of the unknown.

"Busted" by Karen Barefoot was a short, easy read but packed a long hard punch of hope and encouragement for anyone going through life's difficult times! The author's sense of humor along with her unfailing trust in God's promises and sovereignty throughout her journey leaps off every page. She truly has a way with her words in reminding us to not look around during the storms of life but to forever look up to the one who calms all storms. I would highly recommend this week to not only women going through similar circumstances but for anyone who is seeking to find that source of perfect peace that we all hunger for during life's trials and tribulations. Well done......
